EricP reacted to GarryP in How to draw this wavy line
Palatino: Unfortunately your suggestion doesn’t add the rounded ends which was asked for.
LadyH: Do you want to exactly re-create the curve you have, but with rounded ends, or create a curve which looks like what you have but with rounded ends?
I’ve attached a video showing one – quite strange – way of creating a symmetrical waved line (not all steps are needed as I was playing around).
It’s maybe not what you want but it might be worth playing around with to see what you can create.

EricP reacted to debraspicher in Feature Request: please could we have a modifier key on the Flood Fill tool to switch to the Colour Picker tool
Hold the letter 'I' (as in Ice), pick up the color, and then let go 'I'

I've just tested it and it works great ! Really making a huge change when clipping multiple images into multiple shapes, this is now real smooth.
Thanks for listening to user feedback and the great work done in each release

EricP reacted to Ash in Ability to lock insertion target
Hi All,
The latest build (2.4.0.2240) which should be available shortly on auto update does now include the ability to lock "insert inside" in addition to the other insertion targets. We have also added the ability for you to use long press on iPad to lock insertion targets...
Other fixes in this build are listed in Patrick's post here.
Thanks,
Ash

Yes thanks all for your feedback on this, we will additionally add to Insert Inside to make it all consistent / cover the use cases you have described.

this is a great feature but any reason why this is not extended to "insert inside the selection" ?

Yes, I thought you feared the risk some users may inadvertently create russian-doll layer structures, but I think there is definitely value in being able to lock this button too. As Bit Arts mentioned in his/her post, I also find myself repeating an insert into clipping mask action several times and locking this button would definitely help.
I recorded this small video as an example. Note that on last step I forgot to click insert inside and got my shortcut action sequence wrong. But you should get the point

EricP reacted to loukash in Spiral Tool
Based on a feature request for a "concentric circles" tool, I've experimented a bit with the Spiral tool which is capable of creating concetric circles in the linear and decaying mode with Arc Angle = 360°, albeit all aligned to one side.
To center the circles subsequently:
convert to curves Layer → Geometry → Divide Layer → Alignment → Align Center Optionally, if you need rectangles rather than circles, select all nodes of the converted circles and convert them to sharp nodes.

EricP reacted to Ben in Spiral Tool
He came up with that example, because that's what I gave him in way of an explanation.
When using the cusped version, the spiral is formed from straight lines. The partial turn in this case is a percentage of the distance along these straight lines for a single 'turn'. To express this as an angle about a notional centre is less meaningful when the geometry is not an arc. Using an angle would result in non-linear interpolation of the straight line segments.
Note, a 'turn' is a complete lap around, not a segment or arc. Since arc angles (or more accurately, the circle divisor angle) can be arbitrary, a turn is determined as being independent of the arc angle for simplicity. So - you can specify a spiral of 2 turns (a notional rotation of 720 degrees) but then set the arc angle to whatever value gives you the visual result you want.

EricP reacted to CM0 in Move data entry improvements
It could be really useful and powerful to allow expressions in the input fields where there is a variable 'n' for the current instance number of the copy.
You could then create some interesting patterns.

EricP reacted to erdi12 in adjustment presets
Adjustment layers can be inserted in the layer menu. A dialog with the settings opens. Presets for the settings can be saved at the top right of the dialog. The presets can only be assigned via the settings panel. It would be much easier in the workflow to reload a saved preset in the adjustment layers dialog box. Please add a load preset next to the save preset. This opens the same menu that is also available in the adjustments. Yours

EricP reacted to Ruslan TV in Affinity Photo 2 | Eye Dropper for Bucket Fill
Another important thing for me. If you are using a brush, you have a hotkey "Alt + click" for Eye Dropper. But if you are using a Bucket Fill it isn't work. In many cases, when you are making flat coloring of line art, you are working with Bucket Fill, you need to quickly copy the color from a reference or another part of the image and fill in that shape. But hotkey doesn't work. It's annoying for ex-photoshop users.

EricP got a reaction from ronnyb in Grid Tool
Yes, quick grid can achieve the result (as the new power duplicate menu), but we're missing the ability to adjust the spacing and number of duplicates later, which a live shape would allow. Think of realigning different grids after scaling, changing the number of lines etc ... The workflow benefit would be before converting to curves, having the ability to re-adjust the parameters to fit the needs of the design.
You can also save presets, with different grid patterns that can be used for hatching, pattern fills etc.
Of course a more generic tool like the upcoming blender tool might bring this as well, but it may be overkill for some simple applications. We already have a "heart" and a "cloud" shape tool, which I am sure have some use, I feel a grid shape tool, although being basic, would have much more practical use cases and not be too costly to implement.
More generally, I would love Serif to add vector effect adjustment layers, like the mesh warp introduced in V2.0. A live vector repeater would address this need and much more.

EricP reacted to Tim France in Scripting
Hi all,
The team has been making good progress. I don't have any updates on a release date but please be assured we are not sitting on our haunches - we want to get this feature out as much as you want it out!
Naturally we've been exposing more of the apps' functionality to scripts, but we've been working on plugin-specific technology too. For example, there's a new asynchronous file i/o and networking API, initially driven by the Javascript layer but then we thought it would be good for the lower level C/C++ plugins to have access too. Obviously with local and remote i/o, we've had to be careful that a script isn't covertly sending user data somewhere, so we've introduced a permissions system for Javascript plugins - unless you allow a particular script network access, it won't be able to use the networking API. It may not be a big shiny WOW! feature, but it's important to get these things right.
Anecdotally, I can tell you we've actually used some scripts internally to do some genuinely useful stuff that would have taken literally days to do manually. One script I wrote optimised a document and removed about 60000 layers. There have also been relatively simple layout and alignment tasks that scripts can munch through in the blink of an eye. Last week I wrote a script that split a pixel layer into new pixel layers containing the blocks of grouped pixels. Even the pixel processing was done in the script - I didn't have to rely on the app to do the heavy lifting for me because our performance is good enough to implement DBSCAN in Javascript.
Please be patient. We know you all want scripting available yesterday, but we're getting there!

Would also recommend to take a look at Cavalry (PC, Mac), its called
the MoGraph for Vector graphics
There is a free Version, you need only an account
Instead of Export or Save you have to Render your result
e. g. as .SVG but is basically the same
