It seems to me that keyboarding and/or tagging is more of the resort of a DAM capable software and not in the scope of a pixel editor — these are not, IMHO, desirable features in AP… or am I missing something? -
Close multiple RAW files

That would imply first the use of sidecar files which is not in the scope nor the finality of AP. -
Close multiple RAW files
Nikon Shooter replied to KA.'s topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
Hey KA, AP is a pixel editor. Granted, a pixel editor with RAW development limited capabi- lities but it is NOT a dedicated RAW converter — and, AFAIAC, does not need to be. So, AP will open many RAW files but will convert them upon opening to images with the final goal to publish editable images — anything but RAW. Uultimately, AP will NOT save your work in sidecar files — like a dedicated RAW converter, this ex- plains why one never has to save the work done in a converter — but will save each and every single images on is own as they all are separate documents. AP has this limitation with RAW files as my RAW converter has others in pixel edition through layers only. A RAW converter is never destructive. -
I've been a long time AP user — using now the latest v. 1.8.6 release successfully since day one — and I am experiencing issues since yesterday: AP launches but won't load my interface / workspace AP crashes opening files… any files My reflex was to restore from TimeMachine first its Application... Any idea… suggestions?

Any idea or suggestions?

RAW sidecar-file required IMPORTANT
Nikon Shooter replied to lefteye's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
AF is a pixel editor… coma. It does have the tools to develop a RAW file — only one at the time, that is — but the main purpose of it is an immediate conversion from a data file to an image that will be edited. Given this, side car files are irrelevant. I do, in my workflow, use first a proper RAW converter — and that suffices most of the time — when not, I will publish an editable image to work eventually in a pixel editor. -

A DAM is not usually in the scope of a pixel editor but many converters offer it. -
Affinity photo for photographers!

The purpose of a pixel editor like AP is to modify, manipulate an image. A RAW file is not an image but an unalterable data file that may be de- veloped by means of unsaved sidecar(s) files and then exported to any image format of your choosing that can then be worked in a pixel editor. The AP's develop persona means to give one access to such an image from a RAW file. For this reason, AP will develop but one file at the time. I use a dedicated RAW converter and Affinity's suite in my workflow. An all in one solution at this point is possibly a good idea but I', not sure it would be a blessing. -
Freeform gradient tool
Nikon Shooter replied to loudo's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
Hi Paul, photography needs a given toolbox that is different, more ap- propriate to pixel editing. To be including vector graphics on a photo would make am image (IMO) look phoney at best unless it is no longer an image but a layout — and that's Publisher's job. Working as a photographer in the publishing industry, I use both Photo and Publisher but only after development in an other app that is a proper converter. -

Designer is a vector graphic app as Photo is a pixel editor. -

@deedee123 That wood make APhoto perform non related tasks to photography. The next step then would be RAW development persona in ADesigner? As a photographer, I'll pass. -

Right, this is an area where much is left to desire indeed! -

Hey Jeffrey, AP is a pixel editor that added a single RAW file development persona (only one!) because the purpose is to edit an image. Since a RAW is unalterable it won't record or save in sidecar files the tweaks, for that one needs a real converter. There are things that bug me too after being a user for years.
