Solved with a factory re-set. Advice from a friend who is a keen user we tried shift return without solving it, but we shall use it in future. Thanks for the help folks

An eye (Egyptian style) appears bottom right next to the box. next to a red arrow/pointer I can reorder the lines of a headline by setting a single line and then squeezing the box.....sorry not very technical......but that does not make for any typesetting finesse. ps thanks for taking the time

Just got hold of the 'offer' version on advice from a keen user after struggling to set simple poetry in Microsoft Publisher. Not a good idea. The tutorials i have studied are vague and verbose. Need an 'Affinity for Dummies' . Text boxes.: Why does text set above and below the text-box ? Not inside the box. Copy from word and publisher files drops inside the box but that's a long way round. Nothing in the tutorials helps me. I am not trying to produce anything sophisticated but I do need a simpler set up. Retired Quark user from the dim and distant past.
