In 2020 I purchased some fonts (below) Although they are installed I can't access them from my affinity software. I have kept giving up on them as I had assumed that they would automatically integrate in to the fonts drop down menu. It seems a waste not to use them. Can I do something about this. Please note I am elderly and not sophisticated in the use of the software although I love it. Thanks

I am about to buy a new PC. Is there anything I should be looking for in the spec that best suits Affinity designer software? Last time I asked about graphics at the shop they were talking about the best spec for gaming - which I don't do.
Would appreciate any advice.
Thank you.

Thank you so much Seneca.
So simple - but I would never have found my way round this without your help.
Kind regards

I almost always use Affinity Designer, so all my old files are saved in that format. I am wanting to copy some elements from old posters for new posters in AD but every time I open them they appear in Affinity Publisher (rarely used).
Even if I close Publisher down and open the document in AD it opens up Publisher ???
I am not very skilled and only do very basic documents.
I am up to date with the new '2' software in AD, Publisher and Photo
thank you in advance

Thank you Nathan. I have bought all the new Affinity programmes and had found that a solution has been incorporated. Thank you very much for bothering with my simple queries. Kind regards

Thank you Nathan and Thomaso
I don't think I described very well what I meant, but your response seemed close to it Thomaso. Nathan I think your suggestion was about creating a style to save and use on a future document. I'm an absolute novice and no real talent to 'design' - although I am watching YouTube to try to expand the huge options Affinity D offers.
My problem is this. Sometimes, I do a simple poster with maybe several individual lines of text (so I can move them around for spacing purposes). So, if I did the first phrase in font FinkCasual 64 and 3D and wanted the next two phrases to look exactly the same - without going back to Artistic text and inputting same choices (tedious) I didn't know what to do.
I have just tried what you suggested Thomaso but 'Paste style' is greyed out.
I am grateful to you both for the time you have taken to respond.
Kind regards

Hi to anyone reading this.
It will seem pathetic to skilled users but I can't work it out. I have looked at what others say - but it seems to be about publisher issues.
When I use Affinity Designer Artistic Text tool in a combination that I want - it is fine.
But when I want to use exactly the same combination on a separate line of text in the same document, it defaults to Arial. So I have to go through the selection process of the font I want and any colour or design again to replicate my original choice
Is there a simple way of applying the same thing?
Thank you.

Hi
I am an absolute amateur. Love Affinity Designer, but don't have a lot of talent. I use the software for making greetings cards and Church Posters, so very simple. I have bought additional fonts but finding it hard to choose what to use. It would really help me if I could print off a list of the options. I know it sounds like I should have a stone tablet and chisel, but I am elderly and scrolling up and down for choices is tedious and I seem to lack imagination for the visual. I have tried 'print screen' but I get the whole screen and not just the content of the drop down text window. I have tried Ctrl and A on the drop down window but that doesn't work either. To be fair I know the programme isn't designed for this - but just thought someone might know a workaround. Thank you in advance. Luddite

Hello Alfred again. I'm not sure it is permitted to ask the same person an additional question. I guess the moderator will knock me back if so. I just wondered if there is a tool on Affinity which would cut out a shape on an image that would be a perfect circle ? I have bought the Affinity Workbook which is a fabulous publication, but at this stage it doesn't deal with the simple things for me. Thanks in advance. Luddite

Thank you so much. I have aged a year trying to do the impossible. You have no idea how happy I am.

However hard I try, I cannot seem to master the refining tool. I like to put images on the page and 'cut them out'. I have attached a very simple one, downloaded from Shutterstock (paid) that i used to use on Craft Artist cut out studio which separated the rondel from the white background. Whatever I do to it on Designer, if I then put it on a coloured background it still shows a white background. Could anyone give me a step by step instruction on how to do this? Thank you. Luddite

Good morning. I am having difficulty with the refine process in general. I have watched the serif tutorial until I can almost say it by heart! However, this question is about reducing the size of the Refine panel. Wherever I drag it - it is so big that it either obscures what I am trying to refine - or if I drag it far enough to see my illustration, most of it is off the screen so I only get a corner.. I can only see that panel if I have the brush tool selected - so am I missing an option on the toolbar for adjusting the size of the panel. On serif tutorial about refining the panel is proportionate so I guess there must be a way. I would appreciate guidance. Thank you.

Thanks Gary - sorry not to be clear. I'm working on a PC. I had an image that I was refining using the brush tool. I decided to delete the image and begin again. The brush tool was still operational and I was unable to get rid of it. I have pressed the escape button but it is still there.
On a previous document - same problem I had refined an image. I then created a rectangle and dragged my image on to it - fine but then I couldn't get rid of the cross that wants me to create another shape. I suppose in Luddite terms I just want something that I can click 'I've finished with that'.
I have watched the tutorials over and over again, and enrolled in an Udemy course, but I am not getting very far. I mostly just want to place an image that I have downloaded from a site and to be able to 'cut it out'. So I have been practising over and over again with the refine tool and beginning to find my way around it a bit, but this not being able to get rid of the tool I am using is proving a problem. If this isn't clear please don't feel you have to respond again.

I am a new user and struggling! I am still trying to use the refine tool competently on Affinity Designer. In my early days with Craft Artist (obselete) when I had finished using a tool, there was an arrow to deselect and choose the next tool. I cannot find it on here. Once I am operating the brush refining tool and have finished with it - I cannot get out of it. What am I not doing? Thanks

Hi Garry and Alfred
I much appreciate your prompt answers. Yes, quite right it was Craft Artist and there wasn't a workaround I didn't know. But now I am an old person (is that what OP stood for Alfred ) and having bee presented with sophistication I am a bit bewildered. I have attached a file with 3 random things I could have cut out in Craft Artist -- simply wanting to detach the subjects from their backgrounds. I would have been looking for sharp cut outlines. I still make cards as well as posters for a community group, so I am trying to transition from my comfortable Craft Artist shoes in to the very smart high heels of Affinity. I would like my posters to look as though a professional has done them. Hope you can help without it taking a lot of your time or if you can direct me to an online tutorial that covers this bit.
Kind Regard and thanks Luddite

I am a very new user (1 week). I used to use an archived piece of Serif software that was designed for making greeting cards. Very primitive by comparison to my new Affinity Designer and Publisher. It had a tool called 'cut out studio'. Unbelievably simple. If you had an illustration from which you wanted to cut out an irregular object - say a starfish on the sand - there was a simple brush tool . A quick whizz round it and the starfish was separated out. I have bought two Affinity courses from Udemy, but neither seem to cover the topic. I have also read various replies on here that talk about masques (haven't had this covered on either tutorial) but they seem to refer more to a cropping/punching out kind of tool. I only want to make posters on the Publisher software. I need this type of tool more than any other. Can anyone help please?

Thank you for bothering to respond. The fonts show up as individual folders in my computer files, but when I am in Affinity software with an open document and clicking on the artisic text button I can't find anywhere to access them. Apologies if I do not seem to be making any sense in trying to explain my problem.
