  1. I think a 'lock insertion' checkbox beside the buttons would be a lot more findable than a hidden modifier, might just be me šŸ¤”
  2. Seems artboard selections cannot be set as key objects. I guess transforming them all to objects first is the workaround.
  3. For the beginners in the room, I'd love a little link to explain how Regular Expressions work. I love documentation though, just me.
  4. šŸš© Hey, I'd like to bump this. Been a while and its still difficult to quickly align objects to their parent container.
  5. When scaling objects, its impossible to have the Corner and Contour tool adjustments scale with them. This is immensely frustrating. An option for 'layer effects' would also be great to have an override for (Drop shadows, Bevels, etc.). What happens when corner and contours are not Baked and one scales an object: Expected result below:
  6. Bitmap fills are great to quickly add certain textures. When copying and pasting style however, both scale and aspect ratio get screwed up with pattern fills. Lets try copy and paste styles and see what happens: Kapture 2023-09-11 at 07.58.23.mp4 Often, you want the texture to appear at the same size, however the object scale affects the pattern scale. Often, you want the texture to not stretch or distort. 'Maintain Fill Aspect Ratio' should fix this, however the object dimensions also affect the pattern applied.
  7. Two issues make Designer suck for pixel selections, when artboards are in use. Reason 1 - If you have many artboards in your document, even choosing a pixel selection tool can crash the file. - I believe this is because Designer wants to consider the entirety of the document, even the space between artboards, from the very top-left XY to the bottom right XY coordinate. For large documents, this phase takes so long that it is essentially a freeze/crash. -Workaround: take your artboard into a seperate file and do your work there, then bring it back into your main file. Reason 2, If your high-res image (say, 2000x2000) is resized into a small artboard, say 100x100, your pixel selections are only made at 100x100 fidelity. -Workaround: take your image, set it to 100% scale, do your selections/masking work, then scale it back down to size. šŸ«¤
  8. 1. I'd love if the rotate field had a directional dial so I can visually see where its going. 2. I concur that 'duplicate as synchronized symbol' should be an option šŸ™
  9. The select tool has a neat limiter for what it will auto select. The artboard tool is what I use to quickly grab and rearrange artboards. However, It selects objects inside artboards by default. Would love an auto select option for the artboard tool. - Objects - Groups - Artboards Only - Top Level Artboard (eg. incase multiple artboards within artboards)
  10. An interesting quirk reg. copied images - if you copy an image and paste it into Excel, it will paste an .EMF file with layers (Despite 'copy as SVG' being disabled)! And despite the clipboard saying I have a PNG copied šŸ¤”. So it seems that copy and paste will either paste a flat image, or pipe layered data directly from Affinity apps. I dislike that I have no understanding or control of paste format. I think the mentioned feature would be appreciated to give more clarity and control over how copy/paste works with third party apps.
  11. Currently you can copy items and paste them into other apps. Super useful! Much faster than exporting, going to the other app, navigating the explorer, importing the image, etc. However, the user has no control over the settings for these copied items. We do have 'copy as SVG' so far. Take a look at the specs of a copied item: I'd love to set copied images to be 50% resolution, 70% quality JPEG, for example. If I am pasting a lot of items into a powerpoint file, for instance, this would save a ton of filesize.
  12. Kapture 2023-03-16 at 05.38.54.webm Howdy, the floating panels appear to act on their own accord in MacOS. Take a look at the bottom right corner of the attached video. Thanks so much! | Designer 2.0.4
  13. In candidate list snapping mode, usually hovering over an item will add it to the list. Not so with artboards - clicking an artboard seems to be the only way to add it to the snapping candidates list.
  14. Snapping via 'candidate list' makes it so that hovering the mouse over objects will add them to the list of snappable elements onscreen. After a delay of hovering (what feels like 1 second), a purple flash indicate the object has been registered. Tooltips work this way, and have a slider in preferences. I'd love to make candidate snapping faster with a slider, so hovering the mouse for ~0.1sā€”1s will add the object to the list.
  15. Would love to have a setting for this! Akin to tooltip delay, I want a candidate snapping delay slider - candidate snapping is great for being deliberate and specific with your snaps - I'd love to be deliberate AND fast.
  16. Just bumping this, curvature combs would massively improve confidence with AF for producing high quality, G2 continuous vector work.
  17. Left: current UI | Right: proposed UI Swatches currently all get dumped into one grid, making it hard to feel organized. The assets panel has a nice solution, with subcategories that can be collapsed, renamed, and moved. I think swatches would benefit from a similar degree of organization šŸ™
  18. I expect blank/empty fills to appear with a red line through them, however in swatches panel they simply are gray (or whatever the UI panel color is) Circled swatches are indeed blank ones. I use them to separate my swatches. MacOS Latest | M1 Max Mac Studio | Affinity Designer
  19. Love it! I think the Export Persona slices should follow the same logic for renaming if possible. Slices are mentally so similar to layers that I want to rename them with the same methods. Please may the Export Persona: ā€¢ Have same Slice Rename menu command/shortcut as Designer Persona ā€¢ Have same 'Press Tab to rename next slice' functionality as Designer Persona
  20. Another reason renaming layers is currently difficult - it takes 2 sets of double clicks to edit the name in the layer panel. So, four total clicks. If I had a shortcut, I could select a layer, tap 'R' and begin typing. Easy.
