Why do colors picked by Affinity Publisher different than the same by Adobe Indesign?
-
I got the CYMK and RGB hex values from an experienced Adobe Indesign use for use in Affinity, so that the colors in the pictures would be similar. But now I 'm making the images, the values I use do not make the colors appearing equal. I don't know how to change that because the blue color in a logo appears different. Examples can be seen here: https://www.myeasychannel-services.nl/feedmanager/vlechtmuseum/feedmanager/feedmanage.php The values should be CMYK 100-87-7-1 or RGB hex 33338c for the blue background and CYMK 0-90-86-0 or RGB hex c83f37 Please help With regards, Ton Hoeksma

Hi Walt, The following suggestions of @Pšenda I followed to download the specific files, and to put them in the map ~/Library/Spelling and the Hyphenation dictionary in a subfolder called nl-NL In Publisher I can changes options for spelling and hyphenation to "Nederlands(Nederland)" but only for the actual document I'm working in. The standard language cannot be set to "Nederlands(Nederland)" which I find somewhat strange and not consequent. I hope that you might have a solution for this. With regards and happy Xmas wishes from the Netherlands, Ton macOS You may already have Spelling dictionaries available but not active within macOS. To check, go to: System Preferences > Keyboard > Text and select Set up... from the Spelling drop down menu. Please check the required language if available. If it is, check the required language and restart Affinity Publisher for the dictionary to appear within the app. If the required language is not available within macOS, you can install standard Hunspell dictionaries for use with Affinity Publisher. Hunspell dictionaries consist of two files, xx_XX.dic and xx_XX.aff. Copy both the .dic and .aff files to: ~/Library/Spelling Once you have done this the language should become available to select from the Spelling drop down menu in System Preferences > Keyboard > Text. Once you've checked the required language, restart Affinity Publisher for the dictionary to appear within the app. Hyphenation dictionaries can also be installed in a similar way but they must be installed into a subfolder. Navigate to ~/Library/Spelling/ as above and create a subfolder with a name in the format of xx-XX ( substituting xx-XX for the locale id ). The dictionary comes as a single file with a name in the format hyph_xx_XX.dic - this file should be copied to the subfolder. Now restart Affinity Publisher for the dictionary to appear within the app.

Dear Walt, Although I changed settings, Preferences > Tools > General > Language (Default) no "Nederlands" can be chosen. I did the Same for Auto-correct, Abbreviation and Filler text, there I could change the Language to Nederlands. But, when I make a small text in Dutch and start the spell checken, a strange pop appears, telling me the following: Unsupported languages Document contains langgages (en-NL) for which no Dictionary is installed. I downloaded the Dutch files from Github, but I think it is because I am a new user on Macbook and therefor a bit unfamiliar with specific actions that have to be done to make it work. It would help to have a step-by-step hand-out. I hope that you can help me forward. With regards, Ton Hoeksma

In the former version of Affinity the software was installed in a folder, as well as the additional resources such as hyph_nl_NL.dic, nl_NL.aff and nl_NL.dic. Selecting these files for spellchecking and using the right hyphenation was easy. But now as version 2.0 installs as an app it is difficult to find the location where the old files (of version 1) can be stored. Who can help me? With thanks, Ton Hoeksma

I bought today my version of Affinity Publisher and so far I feel very happy about that. Two questions do I have: Where on Earth can I find non corrupt aff files for Spelling and Hyphenation check in Dutch (nl_NL), if not it there a possibility to make such a file on my own? Do you consider publishing a Workbook on Affinity Publisher in a short time. The video's with tutorials cannot all be well understoods (due to voice of speaker and absence of subtitling) I would be very glad if someone could answer my questions. With regards and thanks.
