  1. Hi all, Having purchased the mystical lights collection along with a couple of others, and reading the licence agreement just want to clarify one thing. Does it breach the licence agreement to use the mystical lights overlays in work that is to be sold as a PNG to someone? The way I read the agreement, I assume the answer is yes, but just wanting to clarify. TIA.
  2. Just wondering if anyone knows what would be causing this? I am using Designer 1.9.0.932. When I press CTRL+G to group all the layers, the text moves completely off screen - never had this happen before when I group items, so not sure what to check. The only thing I've done different to when I've used Designer before is using the "Draw stroke behind" for the order, which I can't imagine would do much to affect things. Images below show exactly what is happening, all I do is try to group the layers, it happens with the hotkey or right clicking to group. TIA.
  3. Quick question, with AI/PS you can do simple animations, am I correct in my belief that none of the Affinity software supports this kind of work?

Sorry, I am actually using Designer, and 'reduced the workspace' is just the wrong choice of words, or not using better software words - primarily because I am still very new to using Affinity and just used the words that came to me naturally. I did go through Document settings and configured it that way, but also since found that I was likely working off of the *absolute minimum* pixel requirements too

  6. Hi all, Just trying to work out a couple of things. Firstly, why has the quality of my image once exported and then uploaded to Youtube as a display picture loses all quality? Youtube guides say to make it 98x98, I reduced the workspace to 98x98px, resized my object with 'scale to object' enabled and exported it as a png at the same pixel size, but when I hit upload on Youtube, it comes out as screenshotted below. Any suggestions? TIA - Aussie
  7. Is it as deep of a rabbit hole as Youtube is at 2am when you just click "one more compilation video" for the 74th time? To be honest, creating a colour conversion spreadsheet would be for the fun of it, because I'm a nutter who loves creating spreadsheets, so I'm down to grab onto Alice's hand and jump down the rabbit hole
  8. Damn, I was looking forward to doing a complicated spreadsheet. What would the buzz words be to look into proper conversions with ICC profiles? Or would it just be that "rgb to cmyk conversion with icc profiles" And his picture is definitely blurred to me too

I definitely knew there was a major difference between the two, and knew that CMYK is typically used for print work, I use to work with an older gentleman who worked in lithography, and was very verse in CMYK colour spectrum. I have too noticed that using the green of the attached image colour code, it is far duller when using the CMYK code, which while at the moment while I am just fiddling around to work out how things work isn't a big deal, but as per my other post where I was trying to change the colour of a lightning PNG (as a part of a brush set purchased on the Affinity store) the repsonse was to use K-only to alter the colour, which obviously means using CMYK to do so, when all the amature vector work I have done so far is in RGB, creating a problem for me if I desire a specific colour for the lightning PNGs but I am restricted by the limitations of the CMYK spectrum. Additionally, the forumulae is so I can create a spreadsheet to help calculate conversions, while I obtained the screengrab from a site that will do it for me - I have a love of creating spreadsheets and this would be a great spreadsheet to work on if I can understand what the formulae is needing done; multiplications, power of etc... Having looked at HSL and other conversions, the formulae get even more complicated too

Hi there, I realise this question isn't specific to Affinity's products, but it is related to my usage of Affinity, so I hope it's still reasonable to post here as I think the Affinity community may have someone who knows the answer/s These questions come in relation to a previous topic I have posted here I have a 2 part question (with images attached) for someone who may know colour theory, are these formulae something that can be put into an Excel spreadsheet so that I can create a spreadsheet that will convert colours from RGB -> CMYK, and other colour conversions which I have apparent formulae for... Are the three/four different colour codes suppose to give the exact same result in colour? I was using Affinity to change a PNG file that had black lines, and the method I used was to convert the document to a CMYK document, then use K-only to be able to change the black to any colour I picked, but while just testing out the theory, when I set it to the greens CMYK code, then changed the document back to RGB, it didnt seem to change to the colour it should represent in RGB if I understood it correctly....   12. Hey there, I have tried using adjustment layers and directly changing the layers, but can't seem to change the lightning brushes (imported png files). The closest I have gotten, is creating a shape, rastersing it to a mask and making it a child layer of the lightning - which while it doesn't change the colour does fade the lightning. Any suggestions?

Hi there, Just wanting to know if this is intended or not, but when you lock layers within a group, but not the group itself, the entire group can still be moved as one object, not just the unlocked layers within it when the group is selected. Attached is something I'm working on, and as the screenshot shows, the dirt mounts around the tombstone are locked but the tombstone itself is not, but if I select the group in the layers menu, and move the selection it moves everything in the group, not just the tombstone, which I thought it'd only move the unlocked layers in the group. Secondly, is there a better way to have the 3 layers relating to the ground around the tombstone setup, where I can group them independently of the tombstone but still have the front obstructing the tombstone as necessary... I am only aware of two ways to do the obstructing, firstly how I have done it in the screenshot, and then to make the front ground layer a child object of the tombstone itself. Is there a third option? I am still very much a newbie to using this software, including any competitor version of the software. Thanks, Aussie
  14. Hi there, I have looked at other posts, but none seem to be able this kind of effect, although one was close, linked below. I am wanting to create the impression type effect, like shown by the key impressioning below, with the blackened shape of a controller in the second image. I have tried using emboss and 3D fx's but didn't achieve the effect. I have tried to look up on Youtube for how to create an impression, but as expected the results show reviews and first impressions of the Designer software. Thanks for your suggestion, in the process of trying to follow it, and having received the Designer workbook today as well, I ended up finding that making it the child layer and then setting the blend mode of the child layer to "erase" achieved the result I was looking for. Thanks for your suggestion though!
