  1. I was actually thinking the same thing. Or may be why it is not the same filter but with just an option to make it definitive. I can understand that sometimes, on a specific layer, you just have to modify it with a filter. But having the same processing in different menu can be disturbing.
  2. Hi Andy Great videos, thanks again. The layers nesting is very useful and everything is clear about that now :) And I'll make a great usage of the non destructive inpainting for sure ! I just have a question, could someone remind me what the shortcut shift+cmd click on layer is selecting exactly ? (diffuse glow video, 1:24) Thank you [EDIT] Forget my question, selection based on luminosity with alpha. I had to use it this week-end
  3. Hi Joe I had the same problem. Complete black is ignored by screen blend mode if I remember well. What I did is to add a curves adjustment to the text to make it less dark. Or you can just change the color of the text for a gray. May be the blur is enough to accomplish the same in the video. Just a guess.
  4. Thanks Matt, that's great news :) I'm going to keep an eye on the update alert
  5. I don't have enough testing to confirm that but it seems that setting the exchange format in Aperture to tiff 8bits instead of 16 gives less errors. I can understand it's not suitable for your workflow but it would worth a try. And sorry, I'm not sure of what you means by getting the file to Aperture. If you have your edited tiff file on your drive, in the import module of Aperture you just have to browse to that location. Just be careful not having "jpeg only" or "raw only" in the options or you won't see the tiff files. Hope that help. And yes, Paris is wonderful... for tourists. It's different when you live there ;)
  6. Hi Frosty I can understand your frustration, I'm one of those who met the "Aperture external editor" issue. But in fairness, it doesn't happen all the time. Actually it's the opposite, most of the time everything works as expected. Serif is aware of the problem and like some other problems, I'm confident for it to be solved soon. If you want save a version of your file and have some control on it, you shouldn't use "Save as" but "Export" in the same menu. You can choose the file type and the quality.
  7. Hi PaperQueen You have a trial version of AD (Download link at the bottom of the page presenting the product). The trial version of AP is announced but not available yet. I'm not talking for Serif but for what I know, due to the limitation of the Mac Apps Store, you can't have a bundle. But they did a promotion when AP was launched.
  8. Very smart A_B_C :) I love that kind of trick. And the result is awesome Shmoo !
  10. Thanks for the info acapstick ! Just saw some others were added 06/08 too. You know how to improve an upcoming rainy saturday in Paris ;)
  11. Yes Malcolm, it's keeping me from working !! It's all your fault !! ;) Just kidding. I love the game, really, it's fluid and pleasant. About the new icon, looks really great. All done in AD ? I suppose it's the different steps of conception ? Are you doing the sketching directly digital or you still have some paper & pen ?
  12. Yes you're right. But the new MacBooks should be available in few weeks. That's worth the wait in that case :) I'll give a try this weekend on my 2013 Air. 11" is not great to work on design or photos but it can help for a quick job.
  13. Thanks for sharing this Malcolm. Serif's developers have some more on their to-do list now :P Downloaded the game on iOS and the graphics are really amazing (great artist & great tools ^_^ ) and the gameplay pretty fun. Very good guys !
  14. Thanks Callum In my case, the shape was symmetrical, I used the grid to add a point in the middle of two sides.
  15. That's very interesting. And except the export/import part, if you had 2 or 3 things to improve/implement in AD, what would they be ?
  16. Hi Malcolm Well done ! Certainly a good way to show how serious AD can be in the professional world. Did you import all your Illustrator files and convert them or did you start from scratch ?
  17. AI+PS subscription = 48€/month. Even at 100€ each, you start saving money after 4 months. Still a bargain.
  18. I see your point marsofearth, mainly the convergence between different computer graphic technics. But I have to say Serif's choice suits me better. About mixing vector and raster technics, I didn't have time to use AD enough but it seems that you have some nice pixel mode tools. And aitte is right about different things like having different cheaper apps to let people choose one or two (and three in the near future) apps depending on their needs. For me, the essential in that choice is to keep those applications as light and powerful as possible in their respective domains but still, having an efficient bridge between the two if you need it. I don't want an app doing 3 millions different things if the price to pay (beside $/€) is to have a 5Go application taking ages to load and do something. And of course being competitive with Adobe equivalent but without the subscription.
  19. Hi iMic0 If you go in View menu and choose Media, you'll have access to your Photos library (I don't have the app right now, it's from my memory but you get the idea). Hope that help.
  20. I did. At least for Affinity Photo. I didn't have enough time to work with AD to make up my mind on it yet, and to be honest I'm still struggling on some actions like editing and modifying paths, etc... But I'm confident enough to wait for the next version and hopefully some improvement (in my personal skills too !) I'm also very pleased of the feedback here from developers, moderators and of course users, it's definitely a plus to know in which direction these applications are going and about the problems to be solved soon (if not yet in the beta releases). I think there is an important expectation today to find a serious competitor to the leader in both photo editing and vector drawing applications. And Affinity products are clearly serious enough to pretend being on the market beside Adobe. So I agree about giving honest advices about the products on the MAS after some real work with them to give Affinity a wider visibility than here, where the vast majority of users is already convinced of their potential. The logic like I see it is greater number of users means more resources from Serif to improve the products.
