Canva Acquisition might change things a bit... they have Android versions (subscription-based, though).
My fear that Affinity ends up subscription based.

@OriolFM that's precisely why I said, start at the most relevant producer. You might even get money from Samsung to do it, as it would make their hardware even more valuable.
Just conjecture here but I would suspect Samsung would have incentivised Lumatouch to realise first on the Galaxy store which may have helped their business case.

You are wrong. Both the iPhone and the iPad use IOS as their operating system. Publisher, Photo and Designer would make little sense on an iPhone. And as @debraspicher already pointed out, developing for Android tablets is financially a bottomless pit for a small company like Serif. When I look at the Photoshop Express version for Android, the range of functions is not significantly greater than that of the camera application from Google, which is installed by default. Why should Serif do more?
Just some comments on the two points I have marked as bold.
Lumatouch saw the opportunity to develop Lumafusion for Android tablets, starting off first with Samsung. They are a very small company but there must be a reason why they sought to do so.
The poor functionality of the likes of Photoshop Express is exactly why we need a more professional product in this space as there is nothing remotely close to the Affinity suite on Android from what I have seen.

With Lumafusion developing for Android, mostly due to the quality of Samsung tablets, I wonder if the market is changing a little? My iPad is almost redundant now compared to my Samsung tablets - the screen and S-Pen combination just works better for me.
-
Would love the Affinity suite on Android tablets, especially the Samsung Galaxy Tab range which I now much prefer over the iPad. Those big, beautiful screens and included S-Pen. Would be a winning combination.
-
Many thanks. I just discovered that on the iPad and came back to confirm.

Unless I am missing a setting, layer groups are all represented by a folder icon instead of the small thumbnail that v1 had. Is this intentional, or have I hopefully missed a setting to restore the thumbnail view for layer groups? It makes quickly identifying the group you are looking for much quicker.

Im curious to see if this could be handled with shortcuts. I know they are powerfull, but I'm not sure this could be done. Did any1 try it maybe?
Yes, I did this previously although an iOS update broke the shortcut. Would have to review it to see what needs change to get it working again. It only allowed you to share a photo from the photo library to Affinity Photo, it wouldn't let you save back over the top of the original image.
-
I use the free Paint app but it adds additional steps and time to the process as well as additional conversion points. I love Affinity Photo but surprised at the lack of some export options that plenty free tools support.
-
Any official word on this Affinity?

I'm another looking for DDS support. The new MS Flight Simulator 2020 requires DDS textures so I need to stick to Photoshop to export my work for this sim.
-
Any word from Affinity team on this? It seems like an important feature than needs to be added.
-
Another vote for BMP export support. I’m working on textures for a game franchise where the SDK requires 24bit BMP files. I can do all the necessary editing of the PSD templates In Affinity Photo but need to export as PSD and switch to desktop to use an app like Photoshop or GIMP to be able to prepare the BMP files.

Try editing the shortcut and changing the target application to another photo editor you have installed and see if that works. If so, then try changing back to Affinity Photo and test again. Did you ever have the beta of Affinity Photo installed?

Does export to Apple Photos work for you? I can export to Files but not Photos.
Yes, from the export page, select share at the bottom left and you have options to save to files and save image which saves to photos.

Does it allow you to save the photo back over the old one like when you edit with affinity on desktop? (At least like it was since right now its also bugged on desktop)
No, because Affinity imports the image. You need to export the result back to Photos as a new image. You can of course then delete the original image.
-
Apologies, you need to have it set up in the shortcuts app first. You can then use this method to add support for any editing app - see screens attached. It’s important to select the Accepts image option in the shortcut setup so the shortcut only shows up when viewing images. Literally takes less than a min to set up the shortcut but I’ve added a link to the shortcut here:

If you are using iPadOS then you have this simple solution:
Find your image(s) in Apple Photos.
Tap share sheet. Scroll to the bottom of the list of available actions and you will find ‘Open in Affinity Photo’. This will launch AP and import your selected image, ready for editing.
@Teddylours This should provide exactly what you are looking for - use Photos to browse your images and Affinity to edit. -
Any tips on the batch processing feature? This is something I have yet to try in the beta.

I’ll write up a quick tutorial later but I’ve shared the shortcut here for you. Just tap this and it’ll open up in shortcuts for you. You can edit it yourself to see what it does but it is quite basic. Now though when viewing an image in Photos, you can just tap the share icon (open in) and select shortcuts which will open up a small pane where you can select the shortcut which will open the image in Affinity Photo.

Hello, unsure if this is the right place to post this, another thread seemed to say that it is.
Are there plans to integrate with the share menu in iOS? This way, one could share an image from most apps, like Procreate or other creative apps, so as to share directly to affinity and start editing right away. This would make the workflow faster / more comfortable. Would be nice.
You can do that today with Apple's free Shortcuts app. Download that if you haven't already, select the Open In shortcut, uncheck the option to prompt for an app and you can then select which app you wish to open in. You can select Affinity Photo and also set the properties of the shortcut to be available from the share sheet and only for image files.
Now, say you are in Photos looking at an image and you wish to edit in AP, you just hit the Share sheet, tap the shortcuts icon and select your shortcut. It is simple to set up and use and is only a single tap longer than native share sheet support.
I can provide a better tutorial if you are new to shortcuts.

I would like to see the option of switching betweybthe last two used tools. I was hoping this is how it work by default because I may be erasing some content then wish to quickly use the undo brush to brush back in some of what I have deleted then continue erasing and switching back and forth between both tools as I refine what I am doing.
Using the last two tools used also allows us to switch this in the fly by selecting two different tools from the side tray then using the double tap to switch between then as necessary.

Full size at this time unfortunately but it may be worth requesting this from Apple as a feature request for their RAW support -

Will this mean there is a chance of seeing Affinity on the Android platform - thinking Samsung tablets?
