Nita Reed reacted to v_kyr in 1.9.0 seems very buggy and keeps crashing
Usually since it crashes somewhere there around KernelBase.dll and it seems to be dependent (at least according to your crash dump output). - Though @Mark Ingram can tell you here much more concrete the exact cause/reason, since he is able to pass that crash dump output into appropriate Windows tools for debugging the whole (Dumpchk.exe, WinDbg.exe, VS etc.) in order to examine any APh dependencies then.

Nita Reed reacted to PaulEC in Advice and guidance for my daughter
FireAlpaca is a pretty basic painting program. IMHO Affinity Photo/Designer can certainly do anything that FireAlpaca can, and way more, but not necessarily in the same way. The same can be said for the Adobe products. From what you say, your daughter was quite happy with FireAlpaca until there was some sort of "glitch". There are plenty of other cheap/free basic painting apps around, just do a "Google" and try a few.
If she wants something more advanced, I would strongly suggest that she sticks with the Affinity apps you have already bought and learns how to use them. (There are lots of tutorials available.) There's really no point in spending lots more money on an Adobe subscription, as, if anything, it will be a steeper learning curve than Affinity. Bluntly I suspect that this is a case of assuming that the most expensive software will be the best, but that is not always the case, it really depends on what you actually want to do with it. There are certain functions which are common to all "professional" drawing and painting apps, so if you learn one, it is easier to transition to another. If she does decide that she really needs to use Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator for some reason in the future, it will be much easier to start using it after learning the basics with Affinity Photo/Designer. But, whether she goes with Affinity or Adobe, there will be quite a difference from using one of the very basic apps like FireAlpaca.

We are looking to do the first update to 1.9.1 this week

Nita Reed reacted to v_kyr in 1.9.0 seems very buggy and keeps crashing
Ok, let's try to explain in short what that overall means.
The Affinity software is build in a manner that during it's execution, in case some some crash happens with the software, it catches and writes back a so called crash dump file (a crash report), which contains a memory image of the last state of it's executed instructions in memory (so a sort of momentary memory image state during a crashing). For Windows systems Affinity Photo for example would write such a dmp crash file then into the "%APPDATA%\Affinity\Photo\1.0\CrashReports\reports\*.dmp" file path. Meaning here, if a dump file has been generated by Affinity Photo during a crash, the file would reside and can be found under that file system location.
Such crash dump files can give the developers a backtrace indication of where (during what execution state) and so hopefully the reason why the software crashed. Depending on the reason for a crash (note that there are a bunch different reasons possible) the developers can fix the problem, if it occurs to be some bug in their own code. In case the crash reason is due to some other third party code library, or some system driver component etc., they can at least identify this cause.
So for the above advice here ("to uninstall drivers...completely...wiped from disk...then install the newer driver") it's in this case only relevant, if the indicated cause of the crash (in the crash report) is associated to the graphics card driver. - As said before, there can be different reasons for crashes, thus it always highly depends on what an individual crash report finally yields as the cause of all evil here.

Nita Reed reacted to biomed32uk in Issues WIth new update 1.9.0.932
The new version is shockingly bad, it just isn't right with unpredicatble crashing and freezing. I've just had to rip it off and go back to 1.8.5. Spending too much time coaxing it along rather than doing what I need to.

Nita Reed got a reaction from Alfred in I now have all three!
Apologies in advance... I'm just so excited, I can't contain myself.
I now have all three of the Affinity suite!
I recently acquired an entirely FREE version of Aurora HDR 2018...and I successfully installed and use as a photo plugin.
Digital creation life is good. That is all. I just had to share that.
Feel free to delete this. I just needed to say it.

Thanks for sharing that Nita; it doesn’t get said enough.
It’s a great feeling when you get all three and the possibilities open up much wider than before; a kind of ‘graphical freedom’, if you will.

Nita Reed reacted to Totte in Affinity for Android
I won't buy Apple because it does not work with my work (The other, non-creative work).
I don't have a tablet, but I'd definitely get Samsung's new high-end tablet if Affinity were supported.

Nita Reed reacted to Koreanman01 in Affinity for Android
There are many of us who work on Android devices that would gladly buy a license for Affinity products on the Play store.
I personally can't stand apple products.
There are also many apps that are designed for specific android tablets/phones and are not supported on others.
The app could be supported on like the higher end Samsung tablets and none of the knockoff or cheap ones that wouldn't run an app like a vector or photo program anyways.
Then, just like the iPad there is only a need to support a few tablets.
It's pretty simple.
I'm not a full time graphic artist but I do quite a bit of it. It would be nice to have a really good option when I have free time at work, I could work on some stuff on my tablet.
Right now I use Krita. It's ok, but not Affinity.
I won't buy or support Apple stuff for a couple of reasons, but it sucks that only iPad has the app right now.

Android tablet getting pretty good. And there is no combination in it if you add the affinity suite. There is no full creative apps in Android it would be amazing if we could have apps like the affinity suite.
Thanks and I hope y'all think about it

Nita Reed reacted to ziplock9000 in Affinity for Android
Your "Android is fragmented" is an old phrase from 5+ years ago. The Android market for several years has been a lot more consolidated and is a larger revenue generator than iOS devices. Google's ecosystem is better than Apple, that's why Apple comes pre-loaded with Google ecosystem products. Upgrading Android is very safe too, can be obtained without carrier lock in. Because Android services a LOT more people than iOS, it appeals to low and high end devices, unlike Apple. The high-end devices that have no carrier lock in have OS updates directly from Google.
It seems you're opinions are several years out of date and come with a large dose of bias.

Nita Reed reacted to v_kyr in How to Remove an applied Style
Suppose you create a new shape, let's say a rect, you draw that on the canvas. Initially if not setup otherwise, it usually has no associated stroke, no fill and no applied style. That's how it draws as default then and as that object appears in the layers panel. Now apply a style to that default rect object, it get's additionally set all the related attributes (values) that style has been created with. Next just suppose you have a menu action which removes all these style related attribute settings again from a selected object, so the rect will be leaved as it was in it's initial state when created, no associated stroke, no fill and no applied style.
