I already cannot reproduce the second step. 1) draw an ellipse 2)select text tool. The text Dan creates is a "shape path text". The text follows immediately the ellipse shape.

how can I do this? my Text is just simple text on another layer.

how do you manage that the text stays on the same layer like your ellipse and is "sticking" to the cycle and following the ring? (my version is 1.8.3)
