Any good news on this issue? Perhaps something on a HIP backend, some pre-release notes, a silent nod, a lifesign? Anything?

Same for me, 7th Gen i7, 16GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 1060 (3GB).
Since buying Affinity photo, it's almost completely unusable.... so slow, especially browsing for files.
Has killed my system several times as it also makes Windows Explorer unresponsively slow after closing Affinity Photo.
Really disappointing. v11.04.
Considering an alternative software but will probably just install a cracked older version instead.

If people here understand what this means, does it mean there is progress?

I reported this issue as a Bug via the Radeon Software - maybe more Affnity user and other creators should do this and go to the AMD Forums because this is not acceptable.

No solution at the time of posting, but time ticks along. Hence that's why it's worth asking again. Simple.

No it wouldn't. If you look at this thread, any updates from staff are additional later posts not an edit to the original.

I face similar issues after the last update to version 1.10.4. Before this update I had no issue when working with Affinity but now it is nearly impossible to work.
Even with small jpeg-files it takes ages to select a small area of an image with the selection brush tool.
I'm sorry to write that but at the moment it is a disaster to work with Affinity.... 😔

Hi Tormy,
Select the Pen Tool and draw a line covering the distance you want to measure. Switch to the Move Tool, select the line you just draw and check the Length (L) in the Transform panel.

I note that that these requests are more than two old and yet there is still no conversion tool in Aff Designer. When can we look forward to its definite inclusion?

What software are you using?
 
In Affinity photo you can draw a shape, set rounded corners, change the radius, set different corner styles, rounded, angled, concave, even individually on each corner. Then make a selection or a mask.
You can apply a shadow, a fade, 3D edges too if you want.
 

That took less than 1 minute. I'm not sure if you can even do that in gimp.

Select the Rounded Rectangle Tool. Draw the shape of the size you want. Select > Selection from Layer (or, Select > Selection from Layer and Delete if you want to delete the rounded rectangle, too.) You now have the selection, and you can do what you want with it. If that's not what you were looking for, then please describe further what you need to do.

Well I had to reinstall Inkscape only for this purpose ... after have payed something  that's supposed to do one of the most common stuff like this.

It's very sad news this. I purchased few day s ago Photo and Designer. 
Now for such thing, I have to reinstal Inkscape in order to get this done.
It's apity that such package hs not yet implmented such useful feature.

I also searched for this feature in designer. I use it in my designs for clients particularly relating to landscapes and other organic forms that are often already captured
in a rasterized form. I hope this feature is added to designer.

As MEB said the G'MIC plugin isn't Photoshop API related and thus wouldn't work with AP, instead that plugin API is more related to GIMP and Krita addons. Further also actually the libgmic image processing library (see here) isn't AFAIK part or linked in AP, which would then at least allow to reuse some of the G'MIC capabilities. - However, what you can do instead -but which might not be what you initially wanted- is to use it's command-line interface from a shell, which in turn is an interpreter for the image processing language of the same name and has no GUI. Beside that G'MIC also has an online service nowadays.
