  1. yay! that was the answer. @Old Bruce I converted the project to 16 bit and tada! My brushes are working like I expect them too. THANK YOU!
  2. That is very interesting. @Old Bruce the picture I was working on was from an unknown camera. It was very likely 8bit. It may be just a coincidence that it is the first thing I’ve worked on since I updated Affinity. When I get home I’ll check it out.
  3. Must be a windows / Mac thing. The low flow rate is good for shading and cloning. Thanx for thinking about this for me
  4. Thank you. Here. I think I have everything cover. I've also crossed the stroke so you can see what happens when I do. things do soften up if i play with the spacing, but then I get that a graining repeat pattern.
  5. Yes that makes much more sense to include all the information. Here is a screen shot. I use the soft brush often at a flow of 1% or 2%. this sample is at 4%. as I try to blend with strokes over strokes it just becomes a mess. before this update the Soft Brush used to be just that, soft, now it's stripes. Help
  6. My soft round brush has been acting weird since the upgrade. Its not soft anymore. Instead it's layers of different opacities. I have a M2 mac book pro, running the latest version of Ventura 13.5.2. I'm also running the latest version of AP 2.2.1 this example is at 1% flow which I use often.
  7. Yes, thanx, I figured that out. I haven’t use affinity in quite a while. There was nothing called “assistant” the last time I seriously used it. I though it was just annoying so I turn it off without really looking at it. Note to self: read the fine print.
  8. Oh Yeah….dancing in the streets. I turned the assistant off when it kept rasterising layers I didn’t want rasterized. Thanx so much. This has been driving me nuts!
  9. When I create a Mask in AffinityPhoto it does not place the mask inside the highlighted layer. Instead the mask it created as a new layer above the intended layer. I've watched many of the training videos you offer and I can see the instructor hit the mask button and it pops nicely into the highlighted layer. The instruction manual also says that by default a mask will be created inside the highlighted layer. I cringe every time I have to drag a mask into it's intended layer, i use a lot of masks! Is there a setting somewhere that I have inadvertently turned off or something. I've searched everywhere and can't find anything on this problem. Can anyone help before I pull all my hair out
