I don't want every time I click on the work area, it deselects all layers.
Is this related to this autoselect layer?

Don't worry 😂 I have been using other ways to achieve it, just want to know the possibility of the easiest way I have in mind.

    Hi Leo,
when you create a gradient with the gradient tool (the pizza slicer on the left), Affinity will automatically add a new swatch under "recent" in the color panel on the right.
You can reuse this swatch on other objects. Just select another object, and the click on the swatch in the color panel.
Unfortunatly affinity does not register the angle of the gradient, it becomes horizontal, so you need to adjust this.

Usually the gradient tool should remember (preserve) it's last used settings.
At least when using different selected shapes here ( A and B) a gradient in my case preserves the before made settings. Though for gradients on shapes etc. one can also make a style out of these for reusage via the styles panel then, but it seems that "Edit > Copy style" is somehow actually broken now here under El Capitan.

Lock the 3 (or any amount of) layers you want to keep visible
    Select > Select all Layers
    Layer > Hide
    Select > Deselect Layers
    Layer > Unlock All
The last 4 steps can be made into a macro if you do this often

    The fastest way:
click on the top layer shift-click on the bottom layer to select all command-click on the 3 layers you want to keep visible to deselect them click one of the checkboxes of the selected 27 layers to disable them all

You can in version 1.9, which looks like it will be available to everyone soon.
If you can’t wait you can try installing the beta.

Not at the moment but it has been requested in the past so it may come in a future update/upgrade

    It is working now.
I went and delete the assinged "Alt + Backspace" on fill primary colour and assign it for cut function, it worked.
Then I reassigned it to fill primary colour, now it is working 😂 Hopefully it lasts.
I have been reassigning it previously but no result, this is the first time i assign it on another function and reassign it back, and it fixes it, kinda.

If you can select it, you should be able to flip it, but I would suspect the problem is selecting the particular brushstroke(s) if they are all on the same layer.
As explained above you do need to make a new layer in order to be able to flip it, so yes, you are right, you can't just right click > flip, you do need it to be on it's own layer. I don't think that there's any way to flip a part of a layer without affecting the whole layer.

Hi, landed here after many attempts to find how to not auto select the layer in affinity photo.
I am trying to avoid painting on the wrong layer and delete the wrong layer, just a prevention of me accidentally selecting other layer will save the day.
None of the "tricks" mentioned above actually solve the auto selecting layer 🤦‍♂️
Please don't suggest more "tricks", but actually let us disable it 😞
