  1. Thanks everyone, for your replies. Pšenda - yes, but can the 'Picture caption' be dragged into the text frame? It never works for me. jmwellborn - thanks for taking the time & trouble. I think the first option will suit me best. I'll definitely have a go at that. Regards. J L
  2. Hi Both, Thanks for your replies. I should explain - in Publisher I have an image box over a text box and want to add a short caption to the image, ideally on top of it. I don't seem to be able to add another text box on top. There are ways around it, but I thought it might be easy in Photo. Hence the question before I purchase it. J L
  3. Hello, From searching the forum about this topic it seems I'm not alone in wishing I could easily add captions to images in Publisher! So I was wondering if the solution was to get Photo as well and jump between the two - thing is, will I be able to add captions to images in Photo? Can any users advise please. Thanks. J L
  4. Thanks both, no not tried the Beta version - might have a look at it. Are you an ex-user then Cecil? lol I've been wondering about investing in a new machine. I normally use a desktop, but I'm wondering about trying a lappy. I'm quite take with this ...Huawei Matebook X Pro 2019. I know it's not the latest version, but it seems it was highly rated last year (not sure who by exactly!), and it's a lot cheaper than the latest version with the main difference being an i7 processor in 2020 and i5 in 2019 - and only 8gb of RAM - and a 14" screen - problem? Any thoughts from anyone are welcome - especially if you are using one for Affinity! Cheers J L
  5. I'm getting well into using Affinity now, and I'm really enjoying it. However ...one thing that frustrates me is that when I'm typing copy into a text box it's really slow ...I type a sentence then sit back and watch it appear - it's just like watching the old teleprinters if anyone else remembers them! I'm not sure if it's my PC or the app that's causing it? Although my machine is a few years old and and not high-end, it transpires it still meets and exceeds the minimum requirements (as stated on this site) for running the software. I now work in 96 dpi so images will move around faster, but I'm not sure what to do about text? Has anyone else experienced this problem? Cheers. JL
  6. Many thanks to you both for your replies. As you say Desmild, I need to do some research! I found some spec info on the forum help pages which I will have a dig through. Thanks again! JL
  7. I'm loving using Affinity, but my machine is slowing it down. I'm finding text is slow to type in and images can take ages to drag around etc. I'm assuming this is because my machine (bog standard home PC) can't keep up with the fab capabilities of affinity! So what's the minimum spec I should be looking for in a replacement? I can't afford a pro-Mac! lol Cheers. JL
  8. Hi All, Still finding my way around Affinity after upgrading from DrawPlus X3 a few days ago! It's quite a step-up but so far I'm finding Affinity quite intuitive and I'm enjoying finding all the things I could never do before! I'm running it on Windows 10 on a machine that's a few years old now. It's probably time for an upgrade of that too, so I was wondering what you guys out there would recommend for Affinity use? I'm not looking at a pro set up here - something more mid-range would be the ideal. Your thoughts appreciated - thanks in advance. JL
  9. Good points! Even though it turns out I probably could have seen the photos on the trial version, I assumed I would definitely get to see them when I purchased the unlock. I was a bit disappointed when it turned out I still couldn't - until you explained what I needed to do! Maybe they will pick up on your suggestion and have a look at it. JL
  10. Ah! That's it! I wasn't searching for them, I guess I just expected thumbnails to start loading when I ticked the box. All sorted now! Many thanks for your help. Regards - JL
  11. Hi, only just got onto Affinity Designer in the last few days and I'm struggling to find how to access the Unsplash photos on the Stock tab. Do I have to register with them or something? Any help appreciated! Thanks - JL
