Wow, this forum is getting so tyrannical that even the act of Liking posts is censored/controlled.
I just wanted to express the sad emoji for you from a Like. Looks like I am only allowed once a day now.
Since I haven't heard back from the refund department I just installed Photo 2 and then added a shortcut on the desktop and had to create an ico file. I grabbed the icon.png from the MSIX file and created one from it. All this just to get a shortcut with an ico on the desktop.

Thanks Mark.  I'm running out of options because the 'move' operation didn't work for me.  The following is the error I get when trying to move it and I've tried about 6 different 'solutions' in the MS forums.   None of them work.   Target drive has about 140GB free and is not encrypted or compressed.  Sigh.   Seriously, I spend 40+ hours a week at work with these kind of headaches and I just don't have the energy or interest anymore to research this at home (where I have it installed).   I'll give this another 2 days and if there isn't an alternate installation process by Tuesday night, I'm requesting a refund (from the Affinity store) and I'm not even going to think about V2 for about another year and see if things have improved by then.  This is the error I get when I try to move it off my c drive:

Thanks, but I opted for a refund. First, they never added WebP as an option to the version 1 apps and now this? I don't need to pay a company to make my life more complicated than it needs to be. I will stick with the open source programs I currently use, they have more respect for me and offer all the file formats I need. They get the job done.
I was willing to continue to support this company but clearly they have other ideas that don't include potential customers like me.

Wow glad I saw this. Big disappointment with this route.
Not only do I have to buy it again but it installs as an app! No one wants apps on a PC, we want software that we can choose what to do with it on our systems.
I spend all my time deleting and shutting down the App infrastructure in Windows.
Corporations just love taking away any control the consumer has.

    I think I'll pass.

Great for you. Windows Apps have always been a hot mess permissions-wise, so there's probably something borked for me. I also tried pointing it at C:\Users\[MyUsername]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps\AffinityPhoto2.exe and get an error saying "The file cannot be accessed by the system" even though it looks like the permissions are in check. Also using Win 11.

So again... should've just been a regular windows program and we wouldn't have had any of this headache.

Not for me, it's not. I gave myself access to the WindowsApps directory and tried pointing HoneyView to Photo 2 as its default image editor, and no dice... nothing happens when I try to send an image to the editor. Not sure why they felt the need to lock down v2 down like this, but it's really annoying... it should just install like a normal windows program that goes in the regular Program Files directory

Same problem with DXO Photolab - can no longer export a developed raw file directly to Affinity. Big step backward for me. If there is no workaround for this I'll probably get the refund within the 14 day window and find something else to use.

Agree with all the comments on this decision. Back in 2020 I had a very serious look at APV1 but after a great deal of investigation I decided not to switch for three reasons.
    1) - insufficient luminosity/zone/colour/saturation/vibrance masks
    2) - not convinced about the Raw Editor
    3) - a lack of Affinity DAM and the lack of adequate .asphoto support in other DAM applications including Bridge.
Number 1 has been largely resolved and is in fact very good at first glance. Number 2 I'm still unconvinced.
Number 3 though is now even more of a problem as the lack of support for the affinity file format is compounded by the fact that I cannot now even point Bridge at the .exe to get it to use it at the editor due to it not being visible. Add the fact that, unless there have been substantial changes since 2020 which of course may well be the case, I cannot find a DAM which meets my needs and it amounts to a deal breaker for me.
So, inspite of really liking AP V2 and thinking it is better in a whole range of ways than PS, I am probably going to uninstall my trial version of V2 as it is clumsy to use in the real, day to day, world, especially if, like me , you have grown use to the high level of integration I enjoy with the LRc/PS combination. This is such a shame as I really do want to make the change but slowing down my workflow from it's current position is not a positive step forward.
Please, please Serif. Get a DAM sorted either inhouse or by working with another software house. At the very least sort this Windows App v programme file silliness out. In the absence of either action I will abandon any thought of switching.

This is a stupid move by the developers. I own my PC, it is not a phone or a tablet and I want to control what goes on the PC and where it goes. I didn't spend time setting up partitions and drivers for fun. I have a particular drive for programs and that is where they go or they don't get installed - end of!
Version 2 is now uninstalled and I will never buy another Serif product until they fix this. The reason I went to Affinity suite in the first place was because Adobe ruined photoshop by their subscription/online nonsense.

Agreed.  So far, I'm unable to install the upgrades that I just purchased.  I keep getting errors which I'm guessing are due to my shutting off a lot of the spyware features of Windoze 10.
I'm hoping they are planning on releasing a good ol' EXE - if not, I'm going to want a refund.

Just bought the Suite and could not find the installation files so was unable to create shortcuts and worse unable to find a way to run the software! The only way I could launch the software was to double-click on the downloaded installation files which gave me the option to Launch from there. Total irritation and confusion.
However in the meantime after much faffing about through the Forum I discovered to my dismay that these are "App" files and do not install into the Program folder of my C drive and do not appear in my Programs & Features... How do I uninstall them?
I absolutely hate this unexplained change to installing/removing software and am not happy with the way this has been implemented, particularly as no advanced notification (as far as I could tell) was given.
I very much like what Serif is doing with Affinity and love the software but cannot stand this insane change to the standard installation procedure.
Please Serif fix this unwanted installation mess asap. and please retain some independence from the dumbing-down that Micro$oft continually applies to Windows in the so-called attempt to make it better.
    I sincerely hope you listen.

I will be getting my universal license refunded. Installing it as an app has destroyed my workflow. E.g. calling from other programs does not work anymore.   Serif has described some of the disadvantages in their FAQ. The only advantage is that Serif has less support requests.  The user has only disadvantages. The workarounds are an imposition. Serif has lost a lot of sympathy with me because of this.

Delphi reacted to Leigh in Is it possible to change the Installation Path when installing Affinity V2?
If you've purchased Affinity V2 for Windows directly from the Affinity Store, you will have downloaded an MSIX package. You will notice when installing Affinity V2 you will not be offered the ability to change the installation path. This is expected and is down to how MSIX packages work. All Windows Apps are installed to the default drive set in Settings > System > Storage.
There are two options to change where Affinity V2 is installed to:
Temporarily change "Where new content is saved" by going to Settings > System > Storage > More / Advanced Storage Settings > Change where new contact is saved and select the required drive from the New apps will save to: dropdown menu. Once you've installed the app to the new drive, you can revert this setting back to Local Disk (C:)
Move the app to a different drive once installed by going to Settings > Apps > Apps & Features selecting the Affinity App and clicking Move Please note: It's only possible to pick the drive where you want the app installed to but not the full location. Unfortunately, this is handled by Windows and cannot be changed by the user.

I think that creating a new, modern and promising format with such a limitation was a really sophisticated step. It is simply visible that it is and has always been intended for use on the web only.

I know it's been asked for many times already, but I'm hoping the more people ask, maybe Affinity will do something. But I just noticed that Adobe Photoshop now natively supports Webp from version 23.2 and beyond.

I would, very much, would like to have the ability to export in Affinity, but I've been recently considering buying other software that does support this, as I'm a web developer.

Bashed out on Saturday. Hope someone likes this weak ass stuff it was fun to do. Note on brushes: when I originally bought AF I loaded a bunch of PS brushes into it.I admit I've never used any of them. Chimping with the defaults and the Daub brushes seems to get you anything from smoke to details.

It ads a lot and the compression is the best there is. I have made my websites load faster by compressing 300KB and 100KB images down to as much as 60KB to 30KB. Not offering this feature is the reason I hardly use Affinity products.
