  1. It would be nice if when importing or opening documents with missing embedded fonts if the font substitution suggestions at least try to make a guess based on font name... For example, if a document has Helvetica embedded, suggest Helvetica LT or another font with "Helvetica" in the name instead of Arial. Or if a document has FF DIN embedded, suggest D-DIN or PF DIN. Or Museo Cyrillic 300 suggest Museo 300. Or Times Roman to Times New Roman, etc. I know it's impossible to make something like that really guess right all the time. I won't gripe if it suggests "Good Times" for "Times Roman," but if it guesses right most, or even some of the time that would be awesome. Better style guessing would be good, too. regular=>medium or 400 or even book; italic=>tilted, slanted, or oblique, etc. I spend a lot of time changing drop-downs from "Arial" when importing documents. Thanks!
  2. Thank you very much! I will try this. I like your single master better than my three. I will let you know how it turns out... Probably tomorrow, I'm making tomater stands for the missus' garden, I'll be in trouble if she sees me dorking around on a laptop.
  3. No, I meant insert image pages between text pages. But it looks like your method works. The only issue I have with yours is I was using the size of the text boxes on individual pages for widow and orphan control. That is adjusting the height of the text box from 6.75" to 7.25" as needed. Does Publisher have anything for widow and orphan control? Searching the help for those terms doesn't reveal anything.
  4. Thank you, this might work better. I'll give it a shot. I'm still hoping I can insert image pages between the text pages without "losing"the text wrap to approximate the original placement of the images in the 1912 book within the text.
  5. Have you checked TeX math packages? It is very possible the original document is not Unicode compliant. It is also probable if it's very old it was generated with a version of TeX. An older TeX font might fix the problem. Or try one of these. https://ctan.org/pkg/unicode-math?lang=en You might also try the old Adobe 256 glyph Symbol font. If you can find an old Windows Acrobat 5 Reader installation package, it includes a type 1 postscript version of the original symbol with its original mapping and glyph names.
  6. I am having issues when I insert pages for illustrations between flowed text frames. The text frame after the inserted page looks like it flows properly, but the text remains in the initial frame and does not flow to the next linked frame. Is there a quick fix? .afpub file is here: http://www.arlynia.com/kipling/crab/crab.afpub It looks like the text is there, it just isn't visible.
