Certainly agree this should be optional, as other design tools have implemented it. For us, this feature is becoming increasingly important part of our workflow in producing assets, for which we now have hoop jumping of creating the curves we need in other design tools, exporting the curves and then importing them into AD.

Adding a vote to this; for me this is a subtle but important tool needed for my workflow.

There's been a few times now where I've wanted this feature and had to jump through the hoops of duplicating objects to achieve the effect. A native background blur effect would really help the process of creating elegant software mock-ups, as well as serve other purposes for illustration. Would like to see this implemented.
