  1. Whenever I create a new document by selecting a template or using custom size in centimetres or millimetres the Page height comes out 0.1mm smaller every time. For instance, if I select a standard print preset (A4 paper) I get a 210x269.9 mm canvas instead of 210x270mm as set in the template —see attached images. Randomly it affects both width and height. Affinity Photo 1.10.1 macOS 10.15.7
  2. @MikeW , Thank you. I created two different documents for each artboard, made a copy of the artboard and rasterised everything to one pixel layer. This worked for me in order to export quickly, without the need to create a new document without artboard, and with the correct bleed —the two successful exports I managed to obtain before this operation always had white in the bleed area instead of the extended graphics. I guess processing all the layers on such a large canvas is somehow overloading the app, or my computer isn't powerful enough, but I never had such problems —I sadly have to admit— using Illustrator.
  3. One export succeeded, but the bleed didn't contain the extended graphics (the printer markers were as expected, but the bleed area was all white). Tried again but it keeps crashing before export. Not good, I have to find a way to export these documents, including the correct bleeds
  4. I have two 70x100 cm poster artboards I need to export to PDF and send to the printer, but it keeps crashing. Also tried to export at 150dpi (instead of 300), but it takes ages to complete the "Export Item" process. 5. Hi Sean, that's quite interesting, thank you for the tip.
  6. Sorry @pruus, I've updated the afdesign document, yet your PDF export has exactly the same problem with the gradient bitmap. Regarding consistency with artboard names, this is just an example and it does not affect the result
  7. letterhead0.1.afdesignThe bitmap gradient I'm using exports fine as JPG or PNG but when I export to PDF it acts weird. Only the footer element seems to be correct. Do I have to flatten everything before export? Not really useful for future editing. Find attached the original Designer document, the PDF with the wrong behaviour and the JPG as it's supposed to be exported. Cheers letterhead0.1.pdf
  8. There's more about this topic here: Many identical font styles of a specific font present in the character panel menu
  9. You can check for embedded fonts in a PDF document using command line: strings path/filename.pdf | grep FontName
  10. I can't use the clone tool on a layer inside a group, while the group's vector mask is active. I also noticed that a Merge Down of two layers inside the masked group would result in an empty layer when the mask is active. Here attached is a sample document. Trying to reconstruct the missing base of the device in the "Image" layer I'm applying the Clone Brush (using "Current Layer and Below") in the "Clone" layer. This "Clone" layer is the result of a Merge Down of two original layers, but I could merge them only after turning off the mask. Anyway, the Clone Brush seems to sample and draw only when the Curve mask is turned off, too. CloneBrush_MergeDown_Mask.afphoto
  11. @MEB Same here, I have Designer and Photo installed on my computer, not Publisher, and the document was created and developed on Designer only.
  12. @MEB I had the same situation as @CPritchard, the background well in the Character Panel was set to transparent; I set it to a colour and then back to transparent to give it a try, but that only affected the line of text, not the whole text box. Once I clicked the Revert to defaults button, after @walt.farrell's suggestion everything was back to normal
  13. I tried to understand what happened, but I was just adding text fields above artboards in order to export the whole document with artboards' titles included. At some point, while dragging a text box, I started seeing the black background
  14. Just started happening to me, too. It's only happening in one document, I tried making a new document and text works fine. But I can't put new text in the document I'm working on without a black background any more. macOS 10.15.6 Affinity Designer 1.8.4
  15. Please check "Custom Levels" and "Brightness/Contrast" layers on both Photoshop and Affinity to see the difference. Levels applied in Photoshop only to Red, Green and Blue channels (not to Master) are not present in Affinity Photo. Brightness/Contrast applied in Photoshop (with the "Legacy" checkbox on) have different values and a completely different look. custom_levels.psd
  16. Affinity Designer Help states: "To copy control handle length/direction from another curve's node: Drag a node from one curve directly over another curve's node and release. After a short pause, the node's control handles will match that of the 'target' node." Shouldn't the release happen after the short pause? "Drag a node from one curve directly over another curve's node; after a short pause the node's control handles will match that of the 'target' node; release."
  17. alt/option clicking the collapse Icon (as it works in many applications and systems) would be a good way to go
  18. It does appear in the history as "Change export scale properties" after you set it. The only problem is having to click somewhere else to apply the change or it won't take effect before clicking Done. (I don't need to change the document setup when I want the original at 300dpi and the exported image at 72 for the web, for example.)
  19. If you type a new value for the "Exported DPI" in Export Persona and click the Done it doesn't make the change (the history panel shows no change in fact). I need to click somewhere else or press the Tab key on the keyboard in order to have the change accepted before clicking the Done button (this time the history panel shows the change).
