  1. Eeeeh, seriously ? if atleast hundreds of people asked for it in the forums for more than 5 years, it's quite obvious isn't it ? And yeah, you can upgrade, TO THE ENTIRE SUITE ! That is not what i want and ment..come on dude... And the reason they give is bollocks, i'm a amateur programmer, i know.. You probably never scrutinized the images at 400% size to see what happens when you apply filters did you ? I do cause i work with high res textures for my game developing, and i zoom in to see what happens, cause every filter you apply can negatively affect your image in that you lose image quality. And affinity has a lot of filters that degrades image quality very fast. I must admit that there also some handy features that work well, but if you go and compare it to Adobe it lacks behind. I don't want to convert DDS, i want to work in a layered document and be able to export that as DDS. I can convert DDS files myself in many applications, even free ones like Paint.net. That's why it is kinda silly that a paid program which is supposed to replace Photoshop (that what they advertised with years ago when i bought it) can't do that, and that there is no plugin available to do that, for a good programmer it should be a single day of work to make a working plugin for this. But yet in more than thousands days they never bothered.. I found none of your replies really helpful or interesting, sorry.. I also won't react to follow ups anymore..i have better things to do than converse online.
  2. This is why i will not buy Affinity V2... I was one of the people that asked for DDS support back in 2018, and the fact that Affinity devs didn't bother to even consider supporting DDS made me decide to not use their software anylonger, also Photoshop, even the older version is still so much better than Affinity in every single way, that it seems to me that the people at Affinity don't really understand how to make user friendly software and listen to their customers wishes. I actually found this out just now by googling for Affinity V2 DDS support, cause i was playing with the idea to upgrade my V1, but the first letdown was that you cannot upgrade to V2, you have to buy the complete program again, that is not a real big deal since it's not very expensive, but no DDS support is a no brainer for me, and it also kinda pisses me off that they haven't listened to the wishes of their user base..so i'm done with it. I rather pay 12 dollars a month for Photoshop CC and Lightroom for years on end than a one time 75 euro's for APV2, also Photoshop CC and Lightroom are miles ahead of Affinity still, there is no way you can compare the two in output quality. Adobe is still the best...kinda sad actually cause this had great potential a few years back, but it didn't deliver.
  3. So no raw support updates for new camera's on Affinity Photo 1 ??? So Affinity is essentially forcing us to buy version 2 ??? I tell you, you're going to lose customers this way.. I just bought a new camera and now i have to immediately buy new software as well.. Than i go back to Adobe, since they always add raw support for new camera's. Even with the Elements version they do. Things like this happen too much with Affinity. Also still no way to open DDS files after more than three years asking..bad product.. Shame on you Affinity.
  4. Same here with Affinity Photo 1 (latest update) on latest Windows 10 22h2. No error in system log from windows, it just quits while i'm working, happened when doing a HDR merge when tweaking saturation. So it just poops out without registering a crash to windows..one second you're working, the next you're on the desktop.
  5. none of the suggested methods in multiple threads work for me, for this one, i can't nest levels as a child of a mask, it just won't accept it no matter where i drag the level adjustment. nvm: i found a tutorial on youtube which explains in detail how it works.. i guess i'm going to have to do that every time i'm struggling with Affinity, cause it's so different from how other software does it.
  6. It's no use, people have been asking for years, devs do not reply. They said years ago that it wasn't on their priority list, and they don't reply to any of the posts on this thread. So i wouldn't hold your breath for it. it's probably best to forget about Affinity alltogether. I thought it was promising at first, but i have been doing some comparisons with Photoshop CC and Affinity, the filters from Photoshop CC and the codecs they use are by far superior to any of the filters and codecs used in Affinity, so it might be a nice product for hobbyists, but it sadly can't compare to the quality of Photoshop. I only wished they made a offline mode for CC, that would make me never check other products again.
  7. They're not going to be there in the long run, for instance, i bought Affinity only to ditch it after a few weeks and go back to Photoshop because of this. I probably never buy another Affinity product again, and i'm sure that if they don't make the program work like Photoshop, that Photoshop will always stay Nr.1. Adding dds support is just a little work compared to other things they're doing, it's kinda dumb that they didn't add it after all these years. Or add the .8bf plugin functionality. Mark my words, in ten years nobody talks about Affinity anymore like the way they did a few years ago. It was said to be a serious contender to Photoshop, but we all know that this is no longer the case. Even GIMP is better.
  8. I agree entirely with the above post, but i already ditched Affinity 6 months after i bought it cause i read that people asked for DDS support for years, i'm not going to spend my time waitng and wanting. I also won't pay Adobe every month for a product that is extremely buggy (CC desktop app mainly making working with their software often impossible). So i just installed my old Photoshop 6 copy and keep working with that, and forget about software that doesn't do anything for us gamedevs. I still think Affinity is missing out on a huge marketshare though simply by ignoring the gaming development market. And i also think that if they don't add it now, that they will be too late cause other software is probably jumping into this in the forseeable future. Cause game developing is getting more and more relevant these days.
  9. Yep, i bought it, but i'm still using Photoshop because of this, i might never going to use it because it has no dds support, it's a shame cause the program has potential. But since this has been asked for many years, and the devs don't add the support, i guess they don't need the extra revenue from game developers. So i don't think trying to appeal to them is going to work out sadly.
  10. well it's so good that even though it doesn't have dds support, i decided to buy it, and use Corel paint Shop Pro to save to DDS with the DDS plugin. Cause Adobe simply stops working to often these days because it loses connectivity to their server in the CC app, and i can't keep waiting for them to fix their buggy software. Stll, i would like to request dds support sooner rather then later, i know it has been asked for years, but remember what you're missing out on if you ignore gamedevelopers/textureartists, there are not just 1000 devs, but millions these days..just keep that in mind when you set your priorities. Implementing dds would mean a easy way to up your revenue.
  11. +1 for dds support, us gamedevs want to switch to affinity instead of photoshop, cause photoshop (especially) cc is getting more unreliable as time goes by, not the program itself, but the CC app. I'm sure you guys would get lots more revenue if you add dds support. I'm currently a trial user, i will definitely buy it if dds support is added, if not i sadly have to stay with Adobe, cause it's the only sofware that supports the Intel Textureworks plugin. Just remember that millions of people make textures for games, so you should actually up the priority of dds support, it would make sense. Potentially selling millions of copies is imo a nice incentive to put it at a higher priority.
