  1. MacBook Pro, Catalina 10.15.7, LG Ultrafine Second Monitor. Running AP 2 in single screen mode on laptop (i.e.second monitor not being used by AP 2). Click anywhere on second monitor screen (hey - multitasking - wow) and any undocked panels disappear from laptop screen. Click on laptop screen and panels reappear. Not a major issue, but REALLY annoying. (These are the same panels that stay visible when AP 2 is 'closed' using the red button and only go when AP 2 is really closed using 'quit'.)
  2. Thanks folks. Can't believe that I never noticed this before (Pages, Numbers, Aperture etc). But then I have never tried to work my way through a complete help file trying out all the options before. Link bookmarked - and there is always the in-built help file if I need help when off-line. Cheers.
  3. The window accessed via "Help","Affinity Photo Help" (Get Answers Fast 1.10 8ab56 for Version 1 and 2.0 ce98f for Version 2) does not hide when focus is transferred to windows underneath. This makes using the application whilst reading the help file awkward as the help file window has to be dragged out of the way in order to see the program. Although it is for Versions 1.9 and 1.10, the help file accessed via https://affinity.help/photo/en-US.lproj/index.html?page=pages/Introduction/about_photo.html?title=Affinity Photo does behave normally and is far more user friendly. Trivial in the midst of far more serious bugs that need to be fixed - but as the help file is a common starting place for newbies it would be a shame to put users off because of a simple transfer of focus bug.
  4. This topic can be closed. Histograms don't match because V2 raw output format set to 32 bit HDR. Set it to RGB 16 bit and V2 histogram matches V1
  5. Problem exists on both Serif and Apple raw engines. Develop assistant not selected.
  6. MacBook Pro 16. Catalina 10.15.7. In AP version 1 :- open attached .NEF file and click Develop. Histogram appears as in Shot 2.png. In AP version 2 :- same process results in histogram as in Shot 5.png. In AP version 1 I can continue to invert the file, and then adjust levels to achieve Shot 3.png. In AP version 2 the inversion results in Shot 4.png - with insufficient data to create a positive image as per Shot 3.png. I would expect both AP versions to have the same result from simply opening and developing a raw file. There is no apparent change to the image from developing the raw file so I don't think it's that. Have I missed something ? CNegs0961.NEF
  7. Icon view in Finder has a slider that adjusts the thumbnail view size. Believe it or not, I never knew that. Never occurred to me that Finder/View/Show Status Bar led to displaying a thumbnail sizer slider. Thanks for the info. Anyway, we are now way off topic and I've got a few hundred images to sort, catalogue or discard, rename, add metadata to, convert from raw, archive and backup - all of which I can do in Nikon Studio - then enhance (hopefully) in Affinity. \ Nice talking to you all.
  8. Yes, I could do. There are lots of options out there and Finder is one of them but the fixed thumbnail size is a limitation. A front end file viewer for Affinity would be a much more elegant solution. Switch on computer, click on Affinity icon, select folder - see all files in folder. Set thumbnail size and scan through deleting rubbish. Select image - go into edit mode. It would be just like using Nikon Studio as the front end but without the "limited to Nikon" aspect. Obviously Nikon aren't going to make their free application work with competitors' files (justifiably so) - but the Affinity team might be persuaded to develop a front end module a bit like Adobe Bridge. Cheers.
  9. Ahaa - missed that. 16-bit uncompressed works for me, too. Given that there are at least 48 combinations of options for exporting to a TIFF file via Affinity, couldn't try them all. Seems that Walt Farrell had the right answer at the outset. Solves my problem - which was converting HEIC files from iPads and iPhones with minimum loss (i.e. TIFF rather than jpg) into a form readable by NX Studio. Why ? Because most of my images are from Nikon cameras and I use NX Studio as a file viewer front end for Affinity - scanning usb drives / folders / SD cards etc to delete rubbish, rename files and then pass to Affinity for processing. It also works with scanned images, jpg files from archives etc. etc but not HEIC Life would be much easier if Affinity Photo incorporated a file viewer (hint hint).
  10. Yes - but Affinity Photo offers 8-bit and 16-bit TIFF files but it seems NX Studio cannot display 16-bit TIFF files (as exported from Affinity). I don't have any other mechanism for creating 16-bit TIFF's so I can't investigate further. Cheers
  11. Nikon Studio 1.1.1 Affinity Photo 1.10.4. macOS Catalina 10.15.7 Load HEIC file into Affinity. Do nothing other than export as TIFF RGB 16-bit. Locate file in Nikon Studio. Spaceholder appears but thumbnail will not display. Metadata is visible so Nikon Studio has recognised it as an image file but cannot interpret it. (i.e. as reported in opening thread). Repeat process but export as TIFF RGB-8bit. All works as it should. TIFF RGB 16-bit is recognised and displayable in Finder, Preview, Safari, Affinity Photo and (believe it or not) Aperture. Conclusion - Affinity Photo is working as advertised. Nikon Studio is not (i.e.not with all TIFF formats). Unfortunately, this forum is probably not the best place to report an issue with Nikon software and I doubt Nikon will be that interested in fixing something that (from their point of view) is working they way they meant it to - just not working the way we have tried to use it.
  12. Update - just re-installed 10.1.0 and tried again - and the fault is NOT there this time. If I can't recreate you can't investigate - I withdraw the bug report.

  14. Not an afphoto file - just a simple jpg. Thought I had attached it to the bug report but I'll try again here.
  15. MacBook Pro 16 running Catalina 10.15.7. Photo 10.1.0. Printing an image comprising white letters on black strips results in the print preview shown in attachment 2 where the black strips are rendered as dull green. Physical printout is also dull green. Reverted to 1.9.3 and exactly the same file prints normally as shown in attachment 1. Physical printout has the strips coloured black. The file is a simple jpg. Initially this topic was raised under Queries - apologies but I did not realise that it was a bug thinking I had done something wrong and I can't find a way of transferring the query to a bug report. (Hey, I'm a newbie - still learning).
