How to create Sliced Text Effect in Affinity Designer

Is it possible to create the sliced text effect using the method in this YouTube video? It is for Adobe Illustrator and seems a lot easier than what I have found online for Designer but I am having trouble trying to replicate it in Designer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Xlh4EUjwD4
