In my opinion, it is very complicated to just pick a color in both Affinity Designer and Photo. There are so many different possibilities to pick a color. For example you can choose between a color wheel or sliders or from the color palette etc... There are just too many possibilities in my opinion. For example when you look at a picture of the color picker in Adobe Illustrator or Adobe XD (below). It's just so much easier and cleaner.
