ModernHomePress got a reaction from Apophis in Please offer .exe or .msi for V2 instead of .MSIX
I totally agree that there should be an .EXE or .MSI version. The .MSIX version installed fine on my system, but the problem I have is that other programs can not call up an instance of Affinity. For example, in my workflow I use ACDSee to manage my photos, and love using Affinity Photo to edit the photos. Unfortunately I can no longer link directly to the Affinity Photo 2 app through the "External Editor" function as there is no .EXE app on my computer. It basically makes the program mostly unusable for me.

I would also like to export text, as I have made many changes and corrections to the text within Publisher.

Hi,
I wondered if there was a way to export just the text from Affinity Publisher? Or if this is something that could be added to the programme? It would be good if I could send on my designs to web designers with a seperate file for the text from the document.
Thanks for your help

ModernHomePress reacted to Thonex in Import table data
Yes... well, in this case I'm copying from Google Sheets... and I did select multiple cells from both the source (google sheets) and Affinity Publisher. What I got was all the source in the first AP cell. In all cases, the source was a vertical selection of multiple cells of data.
I hope this helps.
Let me know if you have any more questions or if I can be of more help.

+1. Also, pasting from common sheet applications (google sheets, Numbers, Excel) pastes all info into a single cell. There should be some built-in comma, tab, or space delimited auto-import. Right now it is very tedious to import anything into tables. Unless I have missed something.

+1 I also think this could be a great feature, also to import CSV and keep a dynamic link between the file and the fields displayed on each page, updating the text field with a variable where each page number is equivalent to one row on the csv

Is there any way to import tabular data (like a csv or a table in a textfile) into a table in Affinity Publisher? I can't seem to link or place a file in any format. If I try to copy the data, it always lands in one table-cell.
Love the Affinity-products, by the way. Great work!

I've taken hostages. :D My demands are simple. I need a solution to this belligerent Left master page behavior/behaviour, and if time permits—more cowbell!

ModernHomePress reacted to René van Elst in Can't delete a text frame / selection not visible
When I try to delete a text frame, it reappears. In PagePlus I can select a text frame by clicking somewhere inside (resulting in a light blue border) or on the edge (resulting in a dark blue border and other options). Selecting a text frame in Publisher produces no visible result.

ModernHomePress reacted to thetasig in Decorative frames for pictures?
Plenty of published books, magazines, sales pamphlets, and brochures, etc., use decorative frames, or nested frames, to contain graphics and photos. The idea should not limited to "photo book" publishing. I love the idea of integrating it into Affinity Publisher in some way that is flexible for many publishing needs.

ModernHomePress reacted to Steps in Decorative frames for pictures?
Since Publisher comes with some assets like iOS icons and has some predefined Styles like "80s Poster Shines" I wondered if there should be some decorative frames included.
I'm talking about an easy way to apply frames like https://www.vecteezy.com/free-vector/decorative-frames to Picture Frames.
I also attached a screenshot from a photobook creation software of their masks.
The point is that you can do it with Photoshop and I'm pretty sure that by using mask layers this can be achieved somehow in Publisher too, but it's really cumbersome.
If you want to create a nice photobook really quick it's cool to have predfined masks you can apply to an image with one click.
Also it would be nice if there is a way to save a created mask to easily reuse it or share with others.
My background with using Publisher is that I want to create a photo book and order that as PDF.
I know it's easier to just use propritary software of photobook printing services, but as they don't give you a PDF for your digital archive I watch out for solutions like Publisher.
This feature may be useful to reach more normal end users like me that like to order photo books and hate that vendor lock-in that prevents getting a proper PDF of your work.
I find the Publisher really easy to use compared to Scribus and VivaDesigner. And of course InDesign is way too expensive for a hobby.
So there may be only very small adjustments to be made for a broader audience beside professionals.
What do you think?
