Daniel Son reacted to Alfred in Artboard explanation please?
If all you want is a holding area there’s no need to use artboards. Simply toggle the View menu option ‘View Mode > Clip to canvas’ (for which the default keyboard shortcut is the backslash ‘\’) to show/hide objects that are not on the canvas.

Daniel Son reacted to Wizaerd in Gradient Mesh
Illustrator has them, Inkscape has them (free no less), but Affinity does not. They sure would be helpful in creating depth maps and 3D reliefs for CNC and Laser projects.

Any ETA on non destructive free transform, perspective and warp tools like those found illustrator/Photoshop?

Daniel Son reacted to AffinityAppMan in Workarounds for Distortion, Warp, or Perspective distort?
Any Distortion, Warp, or Perspective distort features soon? This year? Any date release? I need to know if I need to change apps.
What is everyone else doing to get around not having Distortion or Perspective distorts in Affinity Designer?
Any tips?

LOL, I actually forgot about Adobe until I had a need for a Distortion, Warp, or Perspective distort for a vector project I am working on. I never realized I would miss them that much. I am very surprised that Serif has not incorporated these features by now.

Daniel Son reacted to boudewijndanser in [ADe] Select same color / fill / stroke / appearance
It would be very useful to have functions to select the same:
Color fill stroke (color / width) Appearance To quickly select all your outlines, or background element in 1 color.
Speed is everything. :)

Daniel Son reacted to Tio in It would be nice to implement Pattern Layers on Vectors
It would be awesome to implement the pattern layer in affinity designer because that would boom the market and you would be able to have a 100% nondestructive workflow I can tell you because you could cover a lot of thing like seamless and infinity vector textures that you can edit freely with curves and vectorial capabilities.

Daniel Son reacted to jboissy in Top Two: Free Transform/Warp Mesh & Node-based Color Editor
Greetings Affinity, and fellow users...
My top two feature requests for Designer, ones I feel it DESPERATELY needs...
Free Transform/Warp Mesh/Envelope function - We're waayyy past due on this request. Other apps, like VectorStyler, have this already built-in. Node-based Gradient editor - Based on the above tech, the ability to assign color to vector-nodes puts AD in a more competitive position. None of this is meant as a commentary on the current Designer development, I really, REALLY want to kick Illustrator to the curb.
Cheers!

It is interesting that Affinity abandoned the idea of listening own audience. A lot of huge companies loses a touch with real customers and there are few projects that took the lesson and started to listen and implement what professional users wants. It is free knowledge for affinity. I remember when Adobe overslept with SKETCH and they made a Adobe XD. They created a place where people could give them ideas and we could vote for new implementations. With their budget and all of that feedback, they quickly made something that is valid alternative for UX/UI designers.
Affinity, think about it. If you are short on money open a KICKSTARTER or whatever, I would be happy to support you for a next generation of affinity or a clear roadmap. If you would really support your programs I bet there would be more PROs who would throw a extra coin on your products. If not, personally I think you are already outdated and in my opinion you’re becoming a very good entrance level casual software. I still manage to use it professionally (and it is love/hate relationship), but I know that I have to avoid a lot of ways to design stuff just because I know it is impossible to make it in affinity. I wish it wouldn’t be a thing. I already bought more then one set of your programs for my team and I'm willing to buy more, but please... Listen, Implement, be honest and communicate plans, be more transparent - as every new inventive "startup" should be, to give people ownership and to create a trust and hope for a change.

Daniel Son reacted to enginpost in Affinity Photo - Create an animated gif
The one thing I liked about Adobe PhotoShop's timeline was that you could perform simple timeline animations using keyframes on layer/object properties which means, for each layer you could keyframe difference on:
X&Y position of layer (including under a mask to make something disappear) Alpha % Visibility (on/off) Being able to do this would allow you to create one time or looping animations of a UI to simulate UX quickly. You could also create cool little simple character looping animations. I don't think it should ever try to compete with super complicated timeline animation tools for animation. That would be an entirely different product. But simple property in-betweens (tweens) over time would be nice.

I would like to know if Affinity Photo will add the gif animation timeline option?

Daniel Son reacted to firstdefence in Is there a way to expand a single overlapping stroke as itself or in sections?
Try breaking the curve at certain nodes, in the example below I broke the nodes at the base of the loops.
