  1. Does anyone know if this feature is included in version 2?
  2. Just want to say I still miss this. Or a way be able to write documents, with layout hints, import them, layout them, edit them (in the original format) and be able to import them again without having to layout them again. A tagged text format would be appreciated.
  3. Aha, I misunderstood. Well, more or less. Here are my wishes for such an editor: The whole blob of text should be available by scrolling. As it is today, I might have to add extra text frames to see everything. I want to see the name of the paragraph style that is applied to each paragraph, without clicking it. For instance in the left margin. Styles should be rendered. Text should wrap. Width of paragraphs should be changeable, preferably inheriting the width of the first text box. Tabs should be editable directly. Tables embedded in the text should be editable like in a word processor.
  4. I don't think there is a good way to export the document from FrameMaker and import it into AP.
  5. I shallow test may not reveal any flaws. I just confirmed that I still get duplicate style names. After going back and forth a couple of times it was completely messed up.
  6. I expect APu to not change any style name coming from the text document, rather use the existing definition already in APu. As you say, it doesn't work that way. I can Find and replace styles, but it is to clumsy to be used every time I want to change something. This leads me to the conclusion: Import of a text document is a one time thing. Once the text is imported, you work with it in APu. You don't go back to the external editor. That is why I find an internal editor useful.
  7. if I would use formatted cut and paste I would miss out all the formatting possibilities of AP. My workflow is to write and set styles (Heading 1 etc) in the editor. Format styles in AP. Import. Except it doesn't work to import styles. I was adviced on these forums to start my project and only work in AP. It works fairly well. But an editor would be better.
  8. I also want this. Import with styles is so lacking I can't expect to go back and forth. I want to set up my styles and layout, then work with the text. In my publication, content and style must be edited together. I can do this wysiwyg, but it would be nice with a text editor that supports setting styles. A tagged text format that could be synced to an external file would also work. But then I am back at my starting problem, inadequate import.
  9. I work on multiple computers depending on where I am and if my son uses the beefy computer for fortnight or not. So it is nice to be able to sit anywhere and write. But I guess that would also be ok. Can I have multiple installations of AP with only one license? EDIT: Sorry for asking. I see that I can.
  10. It is overridden from the open office document, so Gill Sans. I have searched for how to replace styles. Is it possible? That would be an ok solution.
  11. I am writing in google docs and have quite a few documents. They have the correct paragraph style such as Heading 1, Normal etc. It would be nice to have that preserved. If I download as docx and place it into AP, all styles will change name to lower case. "Heading 1" in google docs becomes "heading 1" in AP. I only have a trial of Word installed so it bugs me senseless. But I think I can see that the names of the styles are "Heading 1" etc. So I have to delete all wrongly named styles and assign everything manually. If I download as odt (libre office write) I can see that the style names are preserved. I can in libre office save as docx. When I import that into AP, the names of the styles is preserved. But (and a big but it is), all styles are overwritten with the formatting of the document. Text content already created in AP is changed to match the imported document. If I copy paste from google docs to AP, I only get plain text. Can someone suggest a good workflow to handle this? The best solution would be some kind of import that preserved the styles. The next best would be some mapping of paragraph styles. Like this: Replace "heading 1" with the existing "Heading 1" and delete "heading 1".
