(Correct at time of writing)
As detailed at the top of our App Store description - Affinity Photo for iPad supports iPad Pro, iPad Air 2 and iPad (early 2017). Please note that older iPads are not supported
The Apple App Store hardware "Compatibility" list is automatically generated, and may list some iPad models that do not meet our minimum specification (2GB RAM, advanced 'Metal' acceleration and a minimum 9.7-inch screen). Currently Apple do not allow us to change that information to display the right list of iPads that we support, so it also includes unsupported models (of iPad Air, iPad Mini 2, Mini 3 & Mini 4).
Serif would like our App store entry to say this list.
"Compatibility: Requires iOS 10.3 or later. Compatible with iPad Air 2, iPad Air 2 Wi-Fi + Cellular, 12.9-inch iPad Pro, 12.9-inch iPad Pro Wi-Fi + Cellular, 10.5-inch iPad Pro, 10.5-inch iPad Pro Wi-Fi + Cellular, 9.7-inch iPad Pro, 9.7-inch iPad Pro Wi-Fi + Cellular, iPad Wi-Fi (5th generation), and iPad Wi-Fi + Cellular (5th generation)."
We have requested that Apple modify the store submission process for this to avoid lower spec hardware being listed.
If you have purchased the iPad version and do not own a compatible iPad you will need to contact App Store Support staff to request a refund here https://getsupport.apple.com/. then choose product iPad, In there choose "iOS and Applications" and select "App does not work as expected". Then on the next screen choose a method, for example "Report a Problem"
Alternatively you can use their (English) contact form https://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html
Serif suggest that you use this reason when you request a refund :
“Affinity Photo does not work on my model of iPad. The iPad App Store 'compatibility' section suggests that my iPad model is supported by this software, but the minimum specification for "Affinity Photo for iPad" is an A8 GPU or above and 9.7 inch screen or above. Due to the fact that the store submission process does not have any way to exclude my model I did not know it would not work before buying. Serif also say that this iPad App Store limitation has been acknowledged by Apple”.

Yup did that today. Cancelled my trial of Duet pro (saving$20pa) and bought Affinity for iPad ($20once only). Instant love. It even has a folder based filing system which is rare for iPad. No brainer!.

That looks perfect to me.
In fact I have just ordered an iPad, mainly to put Affinity Photo on, so it will come in handy ;)

Patrick Connor reacted to KoBu in Affinity Photo for iPad launched at Apple WWDC
Congratulation for the very great program.
I would not want to miss Affinity Photo on my 12.9" iPad Pro anymore. I have transferred my image processing from the PC mostly to the iPad. Sitting on the couch and retouching pictures is a great pleasure for me. However, you have to get used to the new user interface. But the tutorials help a lot.
Best regards to the developer team

Patrick Connor reacted to toltec in Question about questions for moderaters
Would it be possible to add a sticky note somewhere here to ask posters (especially newbies) to say what computer they are using the software on?
It was bad enough sometimes with Mac and PC variants but what with the new iPad users it's going to be hard to answer the questions correctly.
Just a thought.

Patrick Connor reacted to p_mac in Affinity Photo for iPad launched at Apple WWDC
I am so impressed with this new Photo for the iPad so thought I would write this for those that are hesitating to buy the app. It is totally worth the 20 bucks.
I needed to have my AirPods looked at so went into the local Apple Store, knew I would need to wait a bit so I took my iPad Pro with me.
To pass the time (I had already uploaded 5 bracketed images to iCloud) I decided to use Stacking. James had done a tutorial for the mac where he used two stacking modes so my photo was of a yellow mailbox (mostly in focus), with green foliage behind(mostly out of focus)
I used maximum, then merged visible,
Then minimum, then merged visible,
Then used blend range to enhance to two layers.
Merged visible.
Used select with the green to create a selection, refined, of the background creating a mask in channels. Space channel, named.
Then select to pixel, invert, spare channel mask for mailbox.
Did some adjustments but could not figure out how to mask them directly (but now I know how to do it )
The guys at the Apple Store would waunder by to watch and were impressed.
Saved it to iCloud.
The app did not crash.
The reason that I'm telling you my story is to let you know that this app is frick'n awesome and is worth 20 bucks, actually in Canada it cost me 30+ bucks (taxes added).
Take the leap and help them to build out this app.

Yes, the Affinity Photo Workbook is well underway. We regularly review chapters as they are submitted and some are ready for German localisation.
We actually use PagePlus X9 (via BookPlus) to create and compile it to PDF.

Patrick Connor got a reaction from Raymondbound in Affinity Photo for iPad launched at Apple WWDC
Affinity Photo for iPad – the first fully-featured, truly professional photo editing tool to arrive on Apple’s tablet – is now on sale.
We were proud to be able to launch it during the keynote at Apple’s WWDC in San Jose on 5 June – the highlight of Apple’s global product launch calendar.
If you saw that, or if you use Affinity Photo already, you’ll understand why it’s the choice of thousands of professional photographers, retouchers and editors around the world.
We think Affinity Photo for iPad redefines photo editing once again, by bringing almost all the features in the Mac version to your iPad, so you can take all that photo editing power with you wherever you go.
The new version is tailored to harness the explosive power of the iPad’s hardware and touch capabilities, and is compatible with iPad Air 2, iPad 2017, iPad Pro 9.7-inch, iPad Pro 10.5-inch and iPad Pro 12.9-inch. Please note this is not the list of iPads that the App Store suggests it will work with, see this post for an explanation.
We expect this to be the biggest launch we’ve ever had and even better, Affinity Photo for iPad is priced at an introductory discount of more than 30 per cent in the App Store – so for now, you pay £19.99 / $19.99USD / 21,99€.

Patrick Connor got a reaction from Jasperbor in Affinity Designer for Windows Update 1.5.1 Available
We are pleased to announce the first update for Affinity Designer for Windows (version 1.5.1).
The update is described here and can be downloaded from here. Once downloaded, close Affinity Designer and run (double click) the downloaded EXE to install it.
To install this version you will need to have the Affinity Designer for Windows already installed OR you will need to type in your email address and a valid Product key when prompted. When installing on top of an existing version you will not be prompted for the product key. If you need it you can find your product key (and a download button) in your Affinity store account, where you will also find the email address used to generate the key when you ordered the software.
If you have installed any previous beta version of Affinity Designer 1.5.0 or 1.5.1, it can be safely uninstalled before or after installing this release update, they are independent installs. The beta will stop working soon anyway.
Please report any problems you have installing or using this new version in the Windows forum here

Patrick Connor reacted to F_Kal in wwdc 2017 - HEIC .heif support in Affinity product line?
Apple announced that in iOS 11 photos will be stored in .heif instead of .jpeg (if I got that right) and they will be adding support of it on macOS High Sierra.
I'm not sure if the .heif files in the camera roll will be converted to jpeg while being copied the to the computer though; I was just wondering what the implications are...

During the installation of the Affinity range on Windows, the following issues can be flagged. Please see below the descriptions and possible mitigations available.

How do I know if my PC is running a 64-bit or 32-bit Operating system Affinity on Windows requires a 64-bit Operating System. Some PCs and laptops run 32-bit OS.
- Please see https://support.microsoft.com/help/13443 Which Windows operating system am I running?
Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or higher not found Affinity requires Windows 7 Service pack 1 - this can be installed through Windows Update.
DirectX 11 not found Affinity uses DirectX 11 acceleration to achieve smooth panning and zooming of the design canvas.
- Please see https://support.microsoft.com/kb/179113 for how to install DirectX 11.
Platform Update for Windows 7 not found Affinity requires the platform update for Windows 7.

64-bit CPU not found Your PC only has a 32-bit CPU. Unfortunately Affinity will not run on your PC unless it has a 64-bit CPU.
64-bit Windows not found (but CPU is 64-bit) Your PC has a 64-bit CPU but you are currently running a 32-bit version of Windows.
- Please install a 64-bit version of Windows.
Aero requirement to run the Software We require Desktop Windows Management Composition, rather than native Graphics drivers. This is natively on for Windows 8 and 10, but on Windows 7 this is most easily achieved by turning Aero ON. If you are not willing to turn the Aero theme on there is a work around described in this post, but any issues when running the software won't be logged unless they've been verified as still occurring with DWM Composition enabled.

Mickey,
Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. I have split your interesting post into a new thread to make it easier for others to find this answer.
You can download and install your one iPad purchase on as many iPads as you have using the same Apple ID. We have also enabled family sharing feature if your account is set up for that.

And only use dslrs because mirrorless is for amateurs
Generally only mac is pro because anyone else cannot produce good quality work, but only using dark interface
Seriously, the only thing that limits this app now is batch capabilities (which this is true for mac as well) and direct transfer via handoff, it is a great alternative for certain workflows without the need of an expensive cintiq

Patrick Connor reacted to JFisher in Compatibility
Hi Susanmmraz
Welcome to the forum :)
We’re sorry that you’re unable to use Affinity Photo on your iPad. Affinity Photo for iPad requires at least a 9.7 inch screen and uses specific Metal features that are only available to the iPad Air 2, iPad 2017 and all iPad Pro sizes. Due to the way the App Store works, it wasn’t possible for us to exclude all of the unsupported models of iPad. Because of this we added this phrase into the description on the App store page "supports iPad Pro, iPad Air 2 and iPad (early 2017). Please note that older iPads are not supported", hoping that users would see this before purchase. We are requesting a change to the App Store submission process to avoid unsupported models from being listed. If you’ve purchased the app and you have an unsupported iPad, please contact Apple to get a refund. -
