My idea of flat, no blurs so tried to blend things in a bit by using shapes and blend modes.

Here is a series of macOS application icons.
The idea is to redesign them as simply as possible, fitting them perfectly into the frame (grid template) defined by Apple, without embellishment and flatness. A simple graphic game for fun (you can exploit them as you wish)!...

Absolutely agree this development cycle is the way to go. The number of improvements and fixes since 2.0 release has been incredible. Congrats to the Affinity fam for a great release and listening to users' feedback!

As a bit of background, a Colour Picker rewrite for 2.2 introduced so many consequences and regressions that the code was shelved until we can find a better way to do it.

He came up with that example, because that's what I gave him in way of an explanation.
When using the cusped version, the spiral is formed from straight lines. The partial turn in this case is a percentage of the distance along these straight lines for a single 'turn'. To express this as an angle about a notional centre is less meaningful when the geometry is not an arc.  Using an angle would result in non-linear interpolation of the straight line segments.
Note, a 'turn' is a complete lap around, not a segment or arc.  Since arc angles (or more accurately, the circle divisor angle) can be arbitrary, a turn is determined as being independent of the arc angle for simplicity.  So - you can specify a spiral of 2 turns (a notional rotation of 720 degrees) but then set the arc angle to whatever value gives you the visual result you want.

Thank you very much, Dan, for tracking this down and reporting the issue. Your thoroughness is most admirable. I hope your efforts are appreciated by the greater Affinity team. It is much appreciated by me. 

Designer is NOT an SVG editor as Inkscape (for example) is.  When you "open" the SVG in Designer it converts the supported part of the SVG file into its own native format, which does not support animation.  You are not editing SVG any more - you are editing a Designer document which was populated by copying things out of the SVG.  Anything that was in the file that Designer cannot translate would not have come across, so whether the "Save" option is permitted to overwrite the original file, or you explicitly export it in the menu (which is what Save would be doing anyway if they did enable it as a shortcut), the animation would already be gone.

+ (E) Bug fixes affecting iPads. These list are just the highlights of the many (~300) fixes made during the recent 2.3.0 beta cycle, which are listed in full in this post .
If you have reported a bug and it is not yet fixed, please do not report it again. More fixes will be made in the forthcoming 2.4 beta cycle.

This post is designed to be an aid to knowing if you are using the latest version of Affinity Version 2 applications on your platform.  The thread is now locked so if you "follow" it you will know then we release a new version on any platform. Version numbers are displayed on the About dialog (or preferences in iPad builds)

If you’ve purchased from the Affinity Store— each time you start the software it will check for updates and offer to download and install any available update. For the macOS release, in the application main menu there is an option "Check for Updates". Alternatively, you can download the latest installer by logging into the affinity store here and find the order in your account and use the "download" button in there. Updates are installed automatically (or manually by installing the new version over the old) Previous builds do not need uninstalling first. New installations of paid software downloaded from the Affinity Store requires LICENSE ACTIVATION to use.
Software downloaded from the Mac App Store, Microsoft Store and iPad store do not require a license activation and are updated through the relevant store: 
If you’ve purchased from the Mac App Store— updates are done automatically next time you run your software after it is available in the Mac App Store. However, you do need to be logged in with the same Apple ID you used to buy them. If this does not happen for you, open the Mac App Store app and go to the Updates page and then Store > Reload page or press CMD+R. This should hopefully force the update to show. Apple sometimes phase roll outs around the world which can mean it may take up to 72 hours for your update to be available.
If you’ve purchased from the Microsoft Store— Microsoft Store updates are done automatically by the operating system (each time you start the application). If this does not happen for you, open the Windows Store app and click the three dots in the top right corner of the app and then go to Downloads and Updates. Click Get Updates. This should hopefully force the update to show.
If you’ve purchased from the Pad Store— Your Affinity iPad apps should update automatically next time you run them. However, you do need to be logged in with the same Apple ID you used to buy them. If the automatic update does not happen for you, go to the iPad Store app and go to Updates. Once you’re there, tap near the top of the screen where it states 'Updates' and then hold, pull down and then release. This should manually refresh the updates page. However, don’t contact us if the updates are not available for you yet—Apple sometimes phase roll outs around the world and this can take up to 24 hours.

We are pleased to announce an update for the Windows release of Affinity Designer 2, version 2.3.0
This build is available as a (sandboxed) MSIX application installer and as an (unsandboxed) MSI/EXE traditional installer.

UPDATING TO THIS VERSION (which is free for all V2 users)
The software version can be seen on the splash screen and the About dialog (in Help > About Affinity Designer ).
If you’ve purchased from the Affinity Store — each time you start the Affinity Store software it will check for updates and offer any available update. The Windows builds only automatically checks once per day. In the Help menu there is a manual "Check for Updates". The latest update will install over the top of any earlier version, with no need to uninstall. You can download the latest installer by logging into the affinity store here and find the order in your account and use the "Download" button in there. Alternatively, this new release (and previous versions of Affinity Publisher for Windows) can be downloaded from this link (those installers are NOT for customers who made Microsoft Store purchases).
