Patrick Connor got a reaction from Rick G in remove vs delete category
We were considering starting a 2.4 beta yesterday, but we have decided to add & test a few more changes before we start, so it will be in the new year but contain more.
I can see why you might think that but the Serif info bot post quoted above is actually suggesting that the localisation/translations will not be included in for new features and fixes until later in the beta and we did not want you saying that the feature was still in English when the beta started. The fix is that Find and replace field names are now capable of localisation. It was not actually not hinting at the beta start date at all 😜

Patrick Connor reacted to VectorVonDoom in Nikon F camera
Decided to do this without blurs again whilst trying to keep it realistic. It made some things trickier but saved the time in not having to set a million blurs. Used AD v2 for the warped text.

Patrick Connor got a reaction from PatrickM in Blend tool in Designer
I did, sort of. I effectively asked them not to tag staff who are not currently interacting in the thread. Clearly sometimes it helps in order to indicate who you're replying to.
As head of the testing team I often know about unreleased features, but as head of the testing team it's not my job to say what features are planned or how they are progressing so I'll not be changing that approach here

Patrick Connor reacted to Alfred in page plus x9
The option should appear when you already have the 64-bit version installed.
If memory serves, the options are to (a) perform maintenance on the existing 64-bit installation or (b) install the 32-bit version. It may be possible to bypass the 64-bit installation by choosing a 32-bit setup program instead of the generic ‘setup.exe’, but I don’t currently have access to the files I would need for checking up on that.

Patrick Connor got a reaction from Dimitrios in Affinity Photo 2 for Windows - (2.3.0)
We are pleased to announce an update for the Windows release of Affinity Photo 2, version 2.3.0
This build is available as a (sandboxed) MSIX application installer and as an (unsandboxed) MSI/EXE traditional installer.
Please see this FAQ thread for instructions on how to access the unsandboxed MSI/EXE version.
The changes in Affinity Photo 2 for Windows 2.3.0 (those made since the last release Affinity Photo 2 for Windows 2.2.1) are listed in this FAQ forum post:
To get notified when any new releases are made please follow the latest releases thread by clicking here
UPDATING TO THIS VERSION (which is free for all V2 users)
The software version can be seen on the splash screen and the About dialog (in Help > About Affinity Photo).
If you’ve purchased from the Affinity Store — each time you start the Affinity Store software it will check for updates and offer any available update .The Windows builds only automatically checks once per day. In the Help menu there is a manual "Check for updates". The latest update will install over the top of any earlier version, with no need to uninstall. You can download the latest installer by logging into the affinity store here and find the order in your account and use the "Download" button in there. Alternatively, this new release (and previous versions of Affinity Photo for Windows) can be downloaded from this link (those installers are NOT for customers who made Microsoft Store purchases).
If you've purchased from the Microsoft Store — Microsoft Store updates are done automatically by the operating system (each time you start the application). If this does not happen for you, open the Windows Store app and click the three dots in the top right corner of the app and then go to Downloads and Updates. Click Get Updates. This should hopefully force the update to show.

Patrick Connor reacted to Bit Dissapointed in Affinity Designer Adding 1 Pixel in Slice Export
Imagine the reverse scenario, Affinity Science, an application for working with scientific data that has extreme difficulty working with anything other than integers, and constantly rounds and outputs numbers from science and maths to integers.
And then imagine the loyalists in here defending the application with "That's how the application is built and works!". Madness.
Then, when shaken scientists give harsh feedback, they get instructions on clumsy methods to force decimal numbers through, even though there are bugs and limitations in the application that make the instructions useless anyway.
This is exactly how absurd many people's defence of extremely poor usability is perceived by people. The loyalists just don't realise it, and it's a big problem in the world.
Customers simply aren't meant to pay the price for such blatantly poor design choices. When someone at Serif thought they could communicate their way out of "decimal pixels" and throw in a few simple help functions, that's when the problem arose. And that problem has been going on ever since, year after year, without a break.
Serif simply has to come up with a solution.

Patrick Connor got a reaction from thexfile in How to participate in the Affinity Beta Software Program
Affinity Beta Software Program
Access pre-release versions of Affinity and share your feedback with us.
Help make the next generation of Affinity the best yet! By taking part in our beta program, you can test out the latest in-development builds of the apps and let us know what you think.
How do I participate?
Please read this post on using the betas and these forums
Who can participate?
Our V2 beta program is available to anyone who owns and registers V2 of our applications.
For much more information, where you can sign up to participate, go here https://affinity.serif.com/affinity-beta-program/
Am I using the Latest Beta Build?
The latest beta is 2.4.0 (visible top right in My Account, and on the About... screen). New builds are announced here
Do I need to uninstall earlier 2.3.x betas?
You do not need to uninstall, and there is an autoupdate from 2.2.x beta or above to 2.4.0. You can just install over the top
Will it copy my 2.3 retail settings?
Yes, this functionality can be accessed using "Edit > Settings > Beta Program".
Are the Windows betas also available as unsandboxed MSI/EXE installs?
Windows betas available as sandboxed MSIX installers, and unsandboxed MSI/EXE. Either are downloadable from links in your account, but we do not support both being installed/run simultaneously, so please choose the one that suits you.

Patrick Connor reacted to v_kyr in Prism Desk Calendar 2024 DE/EN/GR localized - A4 print template
This is the 2024 prism desk calendar, which is localized for german, english and greek (DE/EN/GR) language and thus allows to switch the calendar languages and print for either of the named languages. - This template can be (re)used in all Affinity apps!
The calendar dates used in this template do stem from Mensch Mesch. - The ready glued together calendar looks on a desk like the following, but of course instead with upcoming year 2024 calendar month dates ...
... the A4 Affinity Designer 2024 template looks like this, dependent on the language (DE/EN/GR) switch ...
You setup and switch the corresponding language like this for the german (DE) calendar part ...
... or like this for the english (EN) calendar part ...
... or like this for the greek (GR) calendar part ...
To add your images into the 2024 prism calendar follow the localized instructions like shown & written on the 2024 calendar. Here's an older shown 2022 prism calendar variation screenshot of where to place the images ...
Here's the corresponding 2024 prism calendar AD template file, it's a ADe V1 one, so it can be used with Affinity V1 & V2 apps ...
prism_A4_calendar_en_de_gr_2024.afdesign
Let's hope that we will have in 2024 world wide better & peaceful times then!
