one easy follow up question:
I also assume updates to the iOS app will be free, regardless of version. Other forum posts indicated that major updates (From 1.x to 2.x, etc.) would be paid for new versions. How will this work with the iOS app?
-Mickey
The current version is 1.6.1 (an update from yesterday's release of 1.6). For a while we plan to add more features, and so further updates willappear for both the desktop and iPad versions (as 1.7 and 1.8 etc).
At some point we may well lock ourselves away and start developing a new for each product 2.0 that you can buy if you want, or just keep using 1.XY if you prefer. This is true of desktop and iPad. Free updates for a while (and bug-fixes obviously) then maintenance only for 1.XY when we release a new 2.n version. I hope this is clear. People are so used to rental software that getting some free updates on a one off purchase can confuse them.

It's gonna be busy till we have some suitable pinned FAQs, but I would like things to settle before deciding on the contents. Sorry about the initial rush, but this is our main support mechanism, for all users. Having sub forums would be OK but most posts would have to be moved, as sub forums are often overlooked.

Magicmoe,
Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. Sorry about your initial experience, this is not our experience but clearly many others have a similar problem which we think we have found and fixed.
We are currently building a replacement for the initial version and will test and release it very soon. I hope that this resolves your problem.

Mickey,
Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. I have split your interesting post into a new thread to make it easier for others to find this answer.
You can download and install your one iPad purchase on as many iPads as you have using the same Apple ID. We have also enabled family sharing feature if your account is set up for that.

Jbatts,
Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.
We have no plans to support the iPad mini. Although the mini 4 is 64-bit and has enough memory at 2GB,the screen size makes using the controls quite hard. All other iPad minis are either 32-bit and/or 1GB And have the small controls problem, so they won't be supported for multiple reasons. Best to get a refund.
Unfortunately the App Store doesn't allow us to choose the list of supported models with any more precision than we already do, meaning it suggests that some models are compatible when they are not. We added the models that work to our text description, but understand that isn't the place you expected to find it. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks for your reply.
However, I am confused. Apple A7 is a 64 bit processor. Metal is used in iOS devices since Apple A7, which is also included in iPad mini 2.
EDIT:
Apple even seems to support iOS 11 for iPad mini 2, which uses Metal 2.
As I said " It requires a 9.7 inch screen" an iPad Mini (1,2,3,4) is too small for the controls to be usable even though the hardware of 3 & 4 are up to the task.
-
Just to be clear, the app will not run on iPad mini 2 at all, right?
Or will it just run slower than on newer devices?
If it doesn't run at all, will older devices be included in future updates?
To be clear it will only run on an iPad Air 2, iPad 2017 (version 5) and iPad Pro 9.7-inch 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch.
It will NOT run on ANY iPad Mini (1,2,3 OR 4) (despite what the app store automatic text says). It requires a 9.7 inch screen, 64-bit processor and Metal (which the iPad Air 1 does not have)

Affinity Photo for iPad – the first fully-featured, truly professional photo editing tool to arrive on Apple’s tablet – is now on sale.
We were proud to be able to launch it during the keynote at Apple’s WWDC in San Jose on 5 June – the highlight of Apple’s global product launch calendar.
If you saw that, or if you use Affinity Photo already, you’ll understand why it’s the choice of thousands of professional photographers, retouchers and editors around the world.
We think Affinity Photo for iPad redefines photo editing once again, by bringing almost all the features in the Mac version to your iPad, so you can take all that photo editing power with you wherever you go.
The new version is tailored to harness the explosive power of the iPad’s hardware and touch capabilities, and is compatible with iPad Air 2, iPad 2017, iPad Pro 9.7-inch, iPad Pro 10.5-inch and iPad Pro 12.9-inch. Please note this is not the list of iPads that the App Store suggests it will work with, see this post for an explanation.
We expect this to be the biggest launch we’ve ever had and even better, Affinity Photo for iPad is priced at an introductory discount of more than 30 per cent in the App Store – so for now, you pay £19.99 / $19.99USD / 21,99€.

DVan,
We don't plan to 'fix' this, as it would mean supporting every graphic drivers quirks rather than this universal dwm supplied set of commands.
Since the public beta we have changed our opinion about the likelihood of needing to implement this second code path.

Oh my goodness, we have had this (normally once) in almost every Serif application over the years when trying to prepopulate the save as dialog. We must have found one of the few programmers not to have been tripped up by this before. Thanks for investigating and finding this. We will check it and report it to the developers.

If only I could buy this highly praised book in Switzerland.
Can you solve this problem somehow?
Our delivery partner doesn't deliver to Switzerland, and sending it from here is very expensive on delivery so not offered. Some people have it delivered to a German Italian or French friend who then posts it on or brings it when convenient. Sorry that we can't be more helpful.

We have remade the trial and you will now get 10 days from first run.
Please uninstall the existing trial and then download a new .dmg file from the links in your emails or these if you have not yet applied for a trial

These files are now available, sorry about the hiccup last night when they were not correctly distributed.
After re-testing the Lion and Mountain Lion compatibility, this is not resolved by these builds :( . -

Does that mean the problem MEB referred to in the other thread (i.e. inability to run the trials on 10.7.x or 10.8.x) have now been fixed?
I guess not, and my reply is therefore incorrect, but the trial expiry issue was unrelated.
-
The new trials do not seem to have distributed. I will get this corrected tomorrow sorry
-
All trials work on the same supported operating systems as the app does. the info in that thread was not relevant to the expiry which was true for all users on all OS's

janmdh,
I am sorry about that. I wonder if the obfuscated link that we send to customers are a using a cached copy. I hope not or your experience will be replicated by others.
I will get this looked into.

American in Paris,
Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.
I'm not sure what has happened, but the trial time out has been working for others for a while (it stops working if the clock is wound back or the 10 consecutive days have elapsed)
Do you have another computer to try it on?
