Affinity Video Editor?
Patrick Connor replied to Epic-dude9807's topic in Feedback for the V1 Affinity Suite of Products
ginaadrson, Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums Affinity Video Editor supports 4K video as well as it supports standard formats & sizes, and that is NOT AT ALL. Affinity Video Editor does not exist and we aren't planning on making a video editor application. These other posters are just talking to each other having accepted that. -
Lack of optimisation on iPad Pro 10.5
Patrick Connor replied to defn's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
We will be 'caving in' to the same behaviour as other apps and start ignoring the mute button, despite the fact that Apple say it's purpose is to mute sounds like audio and video! The next build of Affinity Photo for iPad will play tutorials with sound irrespective of the mute button. (crazy I know, but that's what other apps like YouTube do) Also Photos integration should be improved too. -
Hard copy manual
Patrick Connor replied to shortjim's topic in Tutorials (Serif and Customer Created Tutorials)
shortjim, Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. The Affinity Photo Workbook is still a work in progress, and is more of a coffee table example guide than a manual, but thank you for your patience. -
jjohn, Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. The printing from the iPad version is, as you can see, quite primitive at the moment, sorry. If you require more control right now, then my best suggestion is that you export and use a different application. I am sure that the print options will be improved in future releases.

Lack of optimisation on iPad Pro 10.5
Patrick Connor replied to defn's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
It must look quite ugly at the moment like that... It's quite surprising that Apple would be satisfied with that experience, but the alternative may have been to say it was the 12.9 size and squashing everything down or clipping it... quite a compromise either way. The UI guy is a bit of a perfectionist so I don't suppose we will stay this way any longer than we need to. -
Lack of optimisation on iPad Pro 10.5
Patrick Connor replied to defn's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
defn, Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. The iPad 10.5" PRO 2 has been available for only 1 day and up until last week did not even officially exist, in that there was no specification for it's screen and certainly no programming recommendations. Even at WWDC we were not allowed to see or touch anything but the 12.9 Pro 2 before the day and no-one left with one. We have ordered ours and will be getting them as soon as we can. Apple have decided that on the 10.5" Pro 2 as the default behaviour for all software is to use the 9.7" layout and then the OS will scale that, in other words the OS tells our app that it IS a 9.7 iPad and we draw accordingly. Today we have found that you can detect that it is actually 10.5" and therefore "opt in" to also supporting the new size, with a new control arrangement as you wish. In this way Apple have made sure that all apps that work on 9.7 will also "work" on 10.5 giving the developers time to implement 10.5" specific UI arrangements. So to suggest that we are slow off the mark is frankly ridiculous, but in answer to your question about "an update in the next few days"... NO, but we will update the app for the new size once we actually have some in the office and have decided on the right position size and arrangement of the UI. In the mean time just use it as is, it all works. -
Potxotxo Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. To all readers. This problem is being addressed as we speak. The developers think that they have a solution and if it passes testing this fix will be put into a release build very quickly. We appreciate that this is not a situation that customers want to continue for long.

Patrick Connor replied to Patrick Connor's topic in News and Information
Pehaps, but he's having some time off at the moment I think. If he drops by I will ask him. -

Cette publication en français Este post en español Questo post in italiano この投稿は日本語です 这个帖子用中文 Esta publicação em português Это сообщение на русском Dieser Beitrag auf Deutsch (Correct at time of writing) As detailed at the top of our App Store description - Affinity Photo for iPad supports iPad Pro, iPad Air 2 and iPad (early 2017). Please note that older iPads are not supported The Apple App Store hardware "Compatibility" list is automatically generated, and may list some iPad models that do not meet our minimum specification (2GB RAM, advanced 'Metal' acceleration and a minimum 9.7-inch screen). Currently Apple do not allow us to change that information to display the right list of iPads that we support, so it also includes unsupported models (of iPad Air, iPad Mini 2, Mini 3 & Mini 4). Serif would like our App store entry to say this list. "Compatibility: Requires iOS 10.3 or later. Compatible with iPad Air 2, iPad Air 2 Wi-Fi + Cellular, 12.9-inch iPad Pro, 12.9-inch iPad Pro Wi-Fi + Cellular, 10.5-inch iPad Pro, 10.5-inch iPad Pro Wi-Fi + Cellular, 9.7-inch iPad Pro, 9.7-inch iPad Pro Wi-Fi + Cellular, iPad Wi-Fi (5th generation), and iPad Wi-Fi + Cellular (5th generation)." We have requested that Apple modify the store submission process for this to avoid lower spec hardware being listed. If you have purchased the iPad version and do not own a compatible iPad you will need to contact App Store Support staff to request a refund here https://getsupport.apple.com/. then choose product iPad, In there choose "iOS and Applications" and select "App does not work as expected". Then on the next screen choose a method, for example "Report a Problem" Alternatively you can use their (English) contact form https://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html Serif suggest that you use this reason when you request a refund : “Affinity Photo does not work on my model of iPad. The iPad App Store 'compatibility' section suggests that my iPad model is supported by this software, but the minimum specification for "Affinity Photo for iPad" is an A8 GPU or above and 9.7 inch screen or above. Due to the fact that the store submission process does not have any way to exclude my model I did not know it would not work before buying. Serif also say that this iPad App Store limitation has been acknowledged by Apple”.

Affinity photo for iPad 4
Patrick Connor replied to MrSkills's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
We don't run on these older iPads due to memory/screen-res/processor issues. As I understand it, we could run with Metal software emulation, but I think you would struggle to edit modern larger images.
