Konga Line reacted to Old Bruce in Affinity Photo 2 no longer opens at all on Mac desktop
If you store the files on a networked drive or in a cloud service then what could be happening is that Photo is trying to locate all the "recent" files. Try clearing that and turn off Re-open files. This is a Clear User Data choice and a Preferences (Photo General) option.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.
View > Reset Rotation should fix it for you.
Rotating the View is very different from rotating the Document or Canvas, by the way. The View menu (or possibly the trackpad, if you're on a Mac) handles the former. The Transform panel or Layer > Transform > Rotate handle the latter, which make physical changes to your document.
