  1. Update Update Reading through all your support. I tried two things at the same time. I removed the app which was downloaded from the affinity website and reinstalled it from the Apple store. I also edited the file name and took out any gaps. The file now opens. so I’m not sure whether it was the file name or the source of the app or both but the cookbook is now open and six months worth of work has been saved. Thank you for all your help and support. It is really really appreciated. And obviously I’ve made a back up .
  2. I added extra memory to this iMac (2019) from 16 to 32. Other projects DO open correctly, its just this one
  3. I have tried the file on another (more modern Mac) and it opens perfectly. So file not corrupted. I have reinstalled the Publisher software 3 times and the file still will not open on this Mac (mid 2019) now with added memory from 16 to 32 Gb and still will not open. It just stays here: " Loading 1 document " and stays there, for hours until I FORCE QUIT. Any suggestions short of buying a new Mac?
  4. Hi I have a publisher file for a cook book will multiple images and it will not open. I have been working on this for 6 months and it was fine. Any suggestions would be most welcome. I do not (stupidly) have a back up
  5. Hi I have a publisher doc that has several photos added to it. How do I copy an image out of an affinity published doc into a folder on my mac as I do not have the original image? I want to edit it in another piece of software and i cannot find anything like copy / paste that would allow me to copy the image OUT of Affinity Publisher and into a folder on my Mac. Completely baffled - please suggest a method. Thanks
  6. I hate autocorrect. I meant to say that I had a photo of a nurse and I want to produce what looks like a hand drawn picture similar to the nurse I have supplied. I’ve looked at some of the software on that list and it doesn’t quite do what I want, so I might have to just end up tracing it freehand in Affinity Designer (?).
  7. Hi v_kyr I meant a phone and wanted to get the result of the nurse shown here. Thanks for the software list, that might be just what I needed! many thanks Steve
  8. Thank you very much I will investigate those options. Again a wonderful forum with loads of really helpful people.
  9. Hi Another basic question in 2 parts..... Is there a video or instructions to follow to show the best settings when tracing a photo. I have a photo and have added a layer on top and want to create some line art by tracing the photo but the results are not good. Sometimes its a bit jagged or i end up manipulating curves, its very confusing. I want something that reacts just like a pencil on tracing paper. For line art vectors I already have is there a quick way to fill in between the black lines with white as they are ''see through'' at the moment.
  10. Thank you so much! fence painting at the moment so I will try this later cheers!!
  11. Hi everyone, Another really basic question. I am using a template for a book and I want to add a Table of Contents. I know how to do this in MS WORD but on my Publisher the Heading 1, Heading 2 options seem to be missing. I have watched videos where the person sets up the TOC and it seems obvious apart from the Heading 1 as I don't seem to have that. I presume this is caused by the template I am using. How can I add Heading 1 and 2 etc so I can populate the TOC? Thanks in advance Steve
  12. Thank you so much! As a new user I am struggling even with the most simple things. Thank you!
  13. I am new so this is a basic issue but I have text boxes and in some the text is in the middle of the box and in others it is aligned to the top. How can I get them all to align to the top.? thanks
