Just my two cents on this : yes having a search replace color or even just a simple minimal search select with a popup to enter code value would be very welcome !

This is what I'm asking and in Illustrator this is called "paste in back".
And yeah by default, in Ai, "paste" will paste at the center of the screen and you can also paste in place like in many softwares...

    Hi there at Affinity,

Just making the transition from Illustrator, and after doing help searches, I do not think Affinity has an option to Simplify Paths, like illustrator does?

Think this would be a really good feature to implement, as converting strokes creates zillions of nodes, and need to simplify these.

    Thanks Huelo

Importing and exporting dxf/dwg would be the most important feature for me.  I work in architecture and furniture making, and I am still using Adobe Illustrator because I can import my linework from SketchUp and Revit.  I really want to make the switch from Adobe to Affinity, but not being able to at least import a dwg is a deal-breaker for me.

Please dear Affinity Designer Team, we really do need help on that!
Also when we do import a pdf, Affinity seems to group objects and lines in random groups. This is horrible to work with!
If it would at least group by color, line witdh etc. you could handle it. But like this you go crazy. All under tons of random groups and subgroups...

If we can't preserve groups or sublayers when importing .ai and .pdf how are we supposed to do?

First, Affinity Designer is beautiful and extremely efficient tool. I like it!

I am doing design and artwork for front panels / operating panels of electric devices and machines. The drawings are available in DXF and / or DWG from Autocad (trademark). What would really speed up my workflow is the option to *import* DXF or DWG files.

Considering that these files can carry very complex information it would be sufficient to be able import only a single layer file or a single layer of such a file. This contains all mechanical data so I can be sure that the artwork will match the target device.

    Adobe Illustrator has this feature.

Export of DXF / DWG files is actually not required for this kind of work.
