Thanks, I can read the title of the topic I am posting in. And the answer to that question is NO. As I wrote in my first post in this topic, the workarounds suggested do not work for my purpose!

Listen @oO5Dynasty, I don't know if you are really not getting the point, or if you are pretending not to. In any case, you are answers are really confusing and sometimes just plainly wrong. You just wrote that: This is false. This whole topic is about the lack of possibility to do that in AP. We shown you even with videos what we mean by cropping to selection. If you don't know the answer to something, then maybe, if you want to help people, you should consider the option of keeping quiet, instead of spreading misleading information.

Because, as I already said, I do not have multiple layers. I have just one single "background" layer, with no transparency. So if I select the "colored parts" of my image, then I get a selection of all the image. I can, of course, select color range with color = black in AP, as I do in Photoshop, but then how do I crop to the selection's bounding box?

@oO5Dynasty That's not really helpful actually, because in your examples you have layers and/or single color files. Look at my video: I have just one, multicoloured, rasterized layer and I want to remove the extra white padding. In Photoshop it takes me a few clicks, and I can automatize the process with a macro. How do you do that in AP?

Of course. For example, to remove extra white borders from data plots. I created a simple macro in Photoshop that does this: select by color (black) > expand selection by some px > crop. I honestly don't know how to achieve that in AP. Video: 3c4f9a9a-87ca-4854-970e-0658240c2968.webm

For what I understand, the two most requested features for AD are: "select similar" and "vector tracing". In my opinion, these two missing features are very different for what concerns impact on the workflow and difficulty of implementation. "Vector tracing" is usually something that you do once, at the beginning of your work, when, for example, you want to transform a hand-drawn logo in to the rough vector sketch of what will be the final product. There are other tools, even online, that can do the job quite all right, so this is not killing too much the workflow of many users. Moreover, I guess this is a functionality that requires a lot of work to implement, so I can quite understand why it's not there in the software yet. "Select similar", on the other hand, is something that, if you use it (for example for editing CAD-exported graphics or geographic maps), you use it all the time, not just once at the beginning. You might have to select tens or hundreds of little vector elements scattered all over the drawing, and that's just too painful to do by hand. So, not having this feature, is definitely destroying the workflow of some users. And for what concerns the implementation, I am quite sure this is much easier to do than vector tracing. I mean, the objects are already there, they have their properties already assigned, it's just a matter of filtering them by stroke, color or whatever. So, I don't get why this feature is not implemented yet. It would be interesting to have a clarification from the developers on why this highly-requested feature has not been implemented yet after 5 years.

Long term Adobe Illustrator user here. Trying Affinity Designer for the first time today. It's a very nice software, so far, but the lack of this BASIC functionality is baffling..! As already many users pointed out, for people that are editing exported vector graphics (for example CAD drawings) this is definitely a deal breaker.

Long-time Photoshop user here trying this software for the first time today. So far I am really impressed, I like it very much. But... no crop to selection..?? What the hell! All the workarounds proposed here don't really do the job for me, because what I often do is I want to crop to the BOUNDING BOX of the selected area, which could be highly irregular and contain holes.
