  1. Hi @h_d! This is an excellent solution! I'll be honest though and say that I'd rather design in the size I'm designing for then have the software do the multiplying, spacing etc but not being a print professional, I'm wondering if that's more so settings at the printer than in MS Publisher. With designing for the size, I can easily choose to export a single copy of the card (single or double sided) as a PDF to send to the client as a proof which I prefer to sending the print ready piece. Having said that, this is a brilliant solution though. One that I will use if I can't do it the way I'd like to. Thanks for the input! Lawrence
  2. Hello all! The company I work for uses Microsoft Publisher (barf) and when you’re ready to print or save to PDF with the software, you’re able to customize your print. A good example—and what I’m trying to do with Affinity Publisher—is print a single (or double) sided business card, multiple times on an 8.5” x 11” sheet of paper with the cards placed on the paper so they will run through our business card cutter properly. I need to have 10 business cards per sheet with 2 columns and 5 rows. I need to be able to set the space on the top, left, bottom and right as well as between the two columns. It would be incredibly handy to create preset of this for printing, or save as PDF. Thanks in advance, Lawrence
  3. @KenethHooper dig in and learn how to make the stuff yourself my man! A quick Google search helped me find this article with 50 Excellent Icon Design Tutorials. These forums are great for questions on how to achieve certain things with the Affinity Suite as well. I understand though, if you need something fast, you may have to go with a freelancer or (like in my case) there are people out there who are just plain better designers than I. Now for designing elements like icons etc, I would use Affinity Designer as it's better for that and you'll have nice vector images. Then you can use what you've made in your Publisher documents.
  4. This is an older topic but I'm going to weigh in. I've been using Publisher to design websites and love it! I use Master Pages to create my header, footer (stuff that's on every page of the site) then apply them to the pages. Like @SamRamSan1 mentioned above, you can switch between the 3 apps (if you've got all 3 and why wouldn't you?) so I create my vector graphics in Designer, bitmap graphics in Photo and place those into my Publisher file. Once in there it's super easy to jump around to edit if need be. A lot of people will tell you that apps like Sketch are the best (and Sketch is really good) but they're expensive so I've been looking in to how I can use Publish Assets to create libraries of items you would use over and over again like you have in Sketch. I don't know if that would be useful with websites as usually every design has it's own assets etc. Anyway! That's my two cents!
  5. I'd appreciate an affiliate program as well as I work in a print shop and EVERYONE that comes in with stuff to print has done it in Canva and have no idea about paper sizes, bleeds etc. We're launching a blog with our new site and I would LOVE to promote Affinity software and have tutorials on it. I know we can (and will) still do that regardless but an affiliate program would be nice.
  6. Thanks @Lee D! I found an Affinity Publisher course on Lynda.com last night as well which I'll go through eventually (https://www.lynda.com/Design-tutorials/Affinity-Publisher-First-Look/706919-2.html). There's only one 2 minute and 49 second video dedicated to printing within the table of contents but I'll hope there will be more information throughout. I've also pre-ordered the Publisher workbook which I hope will help. I just know absolutely nothing about printing but as per my job, I need to learn. Thanks again! Lawrence
  7. Hello Everyone! I've been working in a print shop for a little while and I'm trying to sell the owner on moving from Microsoft Publisher to Affinity Publisher. My problem being that I've got very limited experience with print as I've been a web designer/developer for 20 years. I just took advantage of the Affinity Publisher Workbook pre-order deal but I'm afraid that there's not nitty gritty on learning the ins and outs of properly setting up/preparing your publication for print. What advice would you have for a complete noob? Are there any online classes a person can take? Websites with great tutorials? Thanks in advance, Lawrence P.S. ~ I'm excited for the workbook. I've been using Affinity products for a few news now but this is my first workbook purchase.
  8. Hey! Opinions are very welcome! I don't consider myself a designer and am trying to get better so let me have it! Do you think it should be skewed in the same direction? What do you think of the font? It's Mouse Memoirs from Google. Again, I'm not too smart when it comes to the tools. I used the page that @firstdefence mentioned and it gave me a non-transparent file. I also tried the Halftone Live Filter that @GarryP mentioned and it too was not completely transparent. Thanks again for the input!
  9. This this was the final product. I'm wondering... is there a way to make the half tone transparent? I've been unable to do that.
  10. Hello! This is my first post to the forum. I'm wondering how I could recreate the speech bubble below? I can draw a rectangle with a uniform stroke no problem but how do I get it be skewed like this with the tapering width on the stroke? Does anyone know of any good tutorials out there that would show me this? Thanks in advance!
