  1. I guess I can't find anything in @Jowday comments which indicates an inherent desire to criticize. Indeed "whining" it is not. No reason to take this stuff personally, even in a pandemic great eclipse ! I'd very much like to hear what, if any, timeline exists for this app. There's enormous potential, but software needs developer hours and weeks. It doesn't continue to grow and mature by itself 🙂 As a type designer, in 1985, I was a beta tester for one of the very first vector design apps, Altsys Fontographer. I later worked with Adobe on Illustrator, Freehand, and InDesign, over the years. The desire for a good tool that behaves as expected is not whining, it's just wanting to be constructive and productive. — Attached, a little bit of digital/analog evaluation. I studied letter carving in stone many years ago (before fontographer, even!), But I've done very little of it since then. To help keep from losing the form, one must constantly take a rubbing of the stone, and evaluate. This is a sort of digital rubbing 🙂
  2. Unfortunately, the concern you’re noting (and thanks for the effort to write it up!) requires pretty substantial redesign in the program logic. If only it had been properly storyboarded in the first place.... There are a lot of UI UX issues in the app, even in the “Show ’Help’ Labels” button which doesn’t tell me what the tiny icons (align to path, etc) mean, and as they’re so small i can barely see them, I can never remember what they do.
  3. Yes, lots of UI/UX concerns... I suppose as we become accustomed to it, it becomes intuitive. However, these “little” things are actually THE ESSENTIAL CHARACTER of a user interface. One ignores or downplays them at peril... Thanks for flagging this. I hope Affinity is listening, although I expect they are utterly overwhelmed. The price of success.
  4. Hmm. Looks good! Too bad it’s not an App! And windows only!? Well, thanks for the tip anyway! @2ddpainter We have apps for this already, although I’m always looking for a truly good alternative to Adobe Illustrator. Now that I don’t have income to justify the subscription, it’s just too expensive! I bought Affinity Designer (iOS) because overall the design philosophy really seems to cover the bases I need. Being a letterform designer it works all the way up to the last 10m. (three yards, whatever I wonder if Affinity folks are just too overwhelmed to deal with the number of comments and requests. Probably. I have a few requests, and comments. Is there a beta program?
  5. I agree 100%. In fact I have bought the package, and it’s quite useful. However, the point about the skimpy basic transform operations goes back to at least 2017. There have been inquiries from paying customers all the way through, because these are BASIC tools for a vector design application, going all the way back to Fontographer, the grandmother of Aldus/Macromedia/Adobe Freehand (RIP). I was a beta tester in the late 1980s for Freehand, and Fontographer before that! But yes. Please support innovative small developers. But developers, communication is the key... What UP!?! Thanks! 6. Skew tool is pretty monodimensional. No vertical skew? No Distort, Warp, Mesh distort? These are all fundamental. This discussion goes back to 2017, for crying out loud. What is going on with this??? This is a painter’s app, apparently, not a designer’s. But even a painter would use a ‘perspective’ warp/distort to adjust elements in the initial sketch. I sure hope there’s some action happening on these very foundational, very fundamental, essential transforms.

To say, oh, just convert it to outlines and adjust your bezier controls is absurd and incomprehensible. That’s not the point, in any conceivable way.
