    ePub much needed here too.

If you look at the competing mac products Affinity needs to step it up. iStudio Publisher exports to epub, even Apple Pages exports to epub3. Running a publishing company we take epub3 and the Daisy Consortium standards seriously, as we believe that everyone should have accessibility to books.

Even on the amazon KDP site, they recommend importing epub via kindle create rather than PDF due to PDF issues.
ebook (epub) was the first thing i looked for when i opened it, and it's also missing a startup assistant like in pageplus.  The new file -> new is similar to designer, which is fine, the addition of a startup assistant / wizard would be ideal.
Looking at the export option, it looks identical to designer, focused on graphical publications, made they need two export menu options like in PagePlus, one for graphical/print exports one for ebook/html - (epub, PDF (optimised for ebook), apple and kindle (or via epub3) and HTML for sites.

I can not believe there was no export capability to produce an Epub2 file, let alone an eub3 file that meets the Daisy Consortium standards.

Robert Petras reacted to tytus 01UNIT in Affinity 2.0 hopes
Hi, I have no idea when 2.0 will come but here would be my list of things that I'm hoping at least will change. I hope this can be somehow helpful. (Sorry for my english, hope you will understand).
    1) Payment/Business model/Updates: I will start with that because it may be the most important for Affinity to bring all other changes. I think Affinity did toooo big jump of $ model. I know you have a big companion - Adobe - but Sketch showed that when program is good it will have dedicated audience and begin the change. Sketch has AMAZING business model. 99$ for lifetime licence and 1-year updates. I'm so happy to pay them that money every year, especially that they give updates so frequently.
This is something that worries me about Affinity. I don't see any updates. When I look at your forums and blog I see that there is not much news / info about new releases. I would hate if Affinity would stop development because the number of new users slows down. I would feel more hopeful if I know that every Affinity User would gladly pay for next year of updates. While I was using that program for a while I noticed some major bugs/problems (stroke expand / no live warp perspective) and few minor ones (the way how affinity photo handles artboards and live filters) and things to improve (live perspective / export persona / mockup support / publisher script, GREP, find and replace presents support etc.). I have NO idea when anything like that will be changed. I’ve seen posts about „expand stroke problem” for a long long time - and nothing has changed, and this is the biggest problem of all that I have encountered… It almost made me quite this program and only because I just love Affinity new fresh vibe, I have staid, but to not be able to „expand strokes” feels shockingly weird.
    2) Stroke expand - this one have shocked me. I do understand when Affinity is missing some options from illustrator, but I wasn’t prepared for this. Stroke expand is not precise. When I expand a stroke it is weird looking object. This is crazy, because I have to play around it a lot right now. Creating logos started to be tricky. I’m glad that my sketch can expand strokes correctly. It feel like a bug that has to be patched „next week” but I’ve seen posts about it for a long time.
I could stop here because what is most important for me is a support/updates frequency and this shocking expand stroke problem. But I will write some more, maybe somebody will read it and relate

    3) No live warp perspective filter - so without this filter I can’t do a proper mockup for things thet are not flat. This pretty much stoped me of showing my clients some of my corporate identity mockups. I can live without it, but it limits a lot of my presentations to clients.
    4) Artboards in affinity photo - they can be created, but only by designer and then I open it in photo - I’ve stoped doing that because affinity photo doesn’t handles artboards well. Then I use few live perspective filters for mockups I have a refresh of quality problem. Even in export it can blurry my design.
    5) Photo vs Designer - if we have a pixel persona in affinity designer, why photo and designer are not combined to one program? I feel like it could be the same program just with more „powerful” personas. It is not a big problem, but I would pay even more for designer if it would combine photo. It feels like they are „tooo close” to be separated- but I may be wrong.
    6) Export Persona - For some reason exporting in affinity always confuses me. Maybe I’m do „adobed” but I feel that photoshop/illustartor/indesign does it better. More simple way. Slices: I did instagram grid and because copying artboard doesn’t copy slices in export persona, it forces me to manually do all slices again - very not intuitive and time consuming. „Slices from layers” works like exporting layers but this isn’t good - there should be an option to decide how slices behave. I miss stuff like „quick png export” when I could easily right-click layer/smart object and just export it as a simple png. I think adobe „export assets” is just much more simple, intuitive and it does that job good enough.

I'm very much in sync with a lot of the CEO talk after the revelation of studio link a while ago, I started investing in the tools just for this hope , its branding name and got realised finally. I do not think affinity has really a need to compete on video or 3d as next product but capitalise on the existing 2d focused persona to create new ones that leverage existing vector and raster functionality. I can see something good with an eventual "Affinity Animator" to take on spine/spriter/live2d rigging and more traditional flash like products reusing a lot of existing product code for all the vector/raster processing, and potentially an "Affinity Architect" architecture/cad persona to build upon illustration feature into a more technical vector drawing set of tools.
As UI/UX person I would really like to see a prototype persona in the form of "Affinity Experience" to take fully on Sketch and Adobe XD, the base of Affinity designer and photo, with added responsive/animate tools for ui/ux/collaboration, and a single format would make something great and very powerful, granted you have enough manpower to catchup with the years of features built by competitors. You did with some of those adobe behemoths, so I have faith
I do think Serif has good a very capable team, good vision of a CEO, and a clean modern code base to work with, there are the basis for a true extensive and cohesive product suite for the next 10 years and beyond.
At this price point, absolutely a no brainer to conquer the world

A dedicated UI design tool from Serif would be much more appreciated by designers, who unfortunately have to use Sketch or Adobe XD, Figma, etc.
I would gladly pay for a new UI design and prototyping software to Serif if they could bring this to life in the future.
Just dreaming about a full circle: print, design, photo and prototyping tools under the Affinity umbrella could be a perfect toolbox for any creative professionals.
Affinity Proto could be a game-changer and a disruptor in this arena.
As I see, there is a huge demand for a non-subscription based prototyping tool in the market.

For the non-subscription price Serif charges, the current feature set is more than generous. At some point I'm sure there will have to be a paid 2.0 upgrade to support further development; my credit card is at the ready!

I also think it would be nice to have an app actually take full advantage of the hardware you have. The Affinity apps use system resources efficiently and all of their apps have never dipped below 60 fps no matter that I throw at it.

Wish they would as well. I prefer to stick all in with the Affinity ecosystem. I also wish that they created the css properties of elements like in PS and AI, but I think I read somewhere they would never do that. Hopefully they offer some sort of prototyping click through a atleast.

UI design can and should account for Micro interactions. These are typically short animations. Thats one reason. The other is for prototyping a layout. Being able to show what your intent is when someone clicks a button.

    Hi @3DJ,
thank you for your explanation. I now have an idea what the relation between UI design and animation is (I myself come more from the static layout side of things  ). I'm not sure if this is part of Serif's plans. Only time will tell. I'll follow this discussion.

Hi @dominik I’ll be interested in what they do. I had hopes that maybe one day they would make an After Effects competitor but I think thats some heavy lifting for anyone to match, but if anyone can Affinity can! I still use affinity Designer on iPad to make my svg’s  and they export perfectly to a great app called Keyshape App on Mac that I can then animate with css for web and other apps. Its a great workflow.

Getting into the UI Design space would be awesome. Could stick within one ecosystem and that would make my face very happy! It would also be cool if symbols went across files. Like I could link a logo from Affinity Designer into my UI design.

I checked out Keyshape after reading your post. It's pretty sweet. It's a slick, small footprint svg animation app that is pretty intuitive and much faster to get rolling in than say After Effects which, after viewing some AE tuts on youtube, can be a pretty deep dive. It doesn't have any interactive features, strictly animation, but fairly easy to get some quick professional results and it outputs to a variety of web and video formats right out of the box and Lottie files as well if you use a free plugin. It also has some simple vector editing capabilities so you can make small adjustments to your shapes right in Keyshape if need be. They have a 14 day full trial, I made a few animations within the time period then bought it for 40 bucks Canadian. Less than the price of 1 month of After Effects... :-)  Until Serif comes up with something similar,  it'll be my "go to" for simple animation work.
So thanks for the heads up 3DJ!

Animation and UX features is a popular request, and the best suggestion i saw in the forums, was to add an "Animation Persona" in A Designer.

Any plans to incorporate some Adobe XD, Sketch, or Figma like features to link animations or states between artboards (which would include a preview to go through the UI/UX)?
