  1. Compared to affinity photo v1 the high dpi support got worse. The fonts don't scale properly to the windows increased font size setting. On windows 11 due to the different installation method compared to V1, I actually also not see a possibility to set High-DPI settings for the installed app. This leads to small fonts and UI elements for 4k displays. It would be great to have 2 sliders to adjust UI scale and font size.
  2. For creating seamless patterns the new pattern layer is very useful but lacks some features for my workflow in creating seamless textures with higher resolution than 1k. Problems: I need my texture to span over the whole document for textures up to 4k, which is not even supported by the Layers-> New Patterns Layer. This only supports layers up to 1k. My workaround of creating a 4k selection and then create a pattern layer from this selection yields a 4k pattern layer but leads to frequent crashes where I just loose all my progress. So it sometimes needs several tries until the creation workes without a crash. If the pattern layer spans over the whole document you loose the possibility to see how the texture looks on repeated pattern. I would love to have a feature like in Krita or also requested in this thread: The work around to simply go for a 8k document to have a 4k seamless texture to see how it repeats is quite performance hungry and leads to more slower workflow. Suggestion: Add a seperate wrap around mode or add the possibility to see the repeated pattern over the extends of the document boarders for working on full size patterns. This would help to create gameart in affinity photo much more efficient!
  3. The actual designs are later used in a video game, those sprites end up to be converted to 32 bit atlas in any way so that was the reason I upped to color space from 8 to 16 bits. Accidently I have done a back and forth between those two color spaces so I dont know if that had an impact at the chosen colors for the shapes. Export will be in 16 bits.
  4. Do I have to be concerned about loosing information if I set the document color space to 8 bit design vector art in affinity designer and then switch the document setting up to 16 bit and later back to 8? Is this conversion lossless or do actual color values get changed on conversion? I have accidently done that a few times and did not keep the original data. Thanks in advance.
  5. I noticed that right click does not have any function yet. It would be nice to have a context menu on right click opening up a small quick access window to some shortcuts depending on the tool you have selected. For the paint brush tool it could be: last used brushes, maybe also a quick brush selection for favourite brushes/ or specific brush category sliders for: width, opacity, flow, hardness a small color selector
  6. Thanks for the linked threads. I would be fine with the argumentation that its handeled on OS level if the fonts would all be responding to the OS text scaling settings. But they arent. Menues and docker font sizes are not scaling relative to the OS scaling settings. Furthermore global increased os windows scaling does only properly support big jumps of 125%, 150% or 200% if you want to have different scalings on multiple different sized monitors. Where then everything ends up simply to big.
  7. Since only the main menu font is scaling with the windows font scaling a lot of menu fonts end up very small on high-dpi monitors. Suggestion: Add an UI Scaling slider to the user interface menu where we can adjust the UI scale to suit our monitor settings.
  8. Great that the rotation of canvas has been implemented. Two suggestions: I would wish for a possibility to use this feature with a digital drawing stylus. Like pressing a button and dragging left and right to rotate instead of scrolling. In most cases dragging will be more comfortable instead of scrolling the weeel. Especially if there is like a snap to origin orientation if you move to that orientation slowly. Maybe make those two behaviours (scrolling and dragging) available in the options to switch. A kind of compass indicator for the rotation would be nice, in case you are very zoomed in and want so see at which angle you are working at the moment.
  9. +1 for me its a must have feature. I would also hope for an option to have relative path links, so thats its possible to work on shared folders without needing to embed everything.
  10. I have accidentally installed vector brushes in Affinity Photo. Now they are invisible in the brush panel. I have no idea if there is a way to see the installed vector brushes to delete them again. Is there a ressource folder where I can delete them manually? Thanks in advance.
  11. As I use AP for drawing, this is a big +1 for me as well as an improved brush management.
  12. I have tried to deinstall all unused drivers of the wacom tablets I used so far. The issue is still persistent. A note for replicability. The issue is only persistent for brushes like the acrylic brushes which use the pressure control size feature, as far as I can tell. For the basic brushes the reconnecting does not lead to an issue and its possible to continously draw. Edit: I don't have other tablet drivers installed beside the current wacom drivers.
  13. Sorry for my late reply. I have switched my drawing tablet to a complete new intuos pro M. Unfortunately the issue was not related to the actual device and still persists with the new tablet. I have tried to connect the cable when the reconnection issue appears. The issue can not be replicated using a usb-cable. With an usb cable its just working fine. The Freehand Selection Tool is working fine after the reconnect but the brush/ eraser is not working/ drawing strokes.
  14. I have just found the exact behaviour I would want for the brush tool as well. For the Feehand Selection Tool you can draw straight lines, which also have a preview if you hold down the shift key. This would be great to have such a feature to draw staight lines, with the brush tool with as well having a kind of preview where the line will land. I would love a option to toggle between the normal point to point behaviour to the behaviour described here.
  15. Hey @Gabe, thanks for getting back to me. Yes I am running 1.8.3.641. The Wacom desktop center version is 6.3.38-2, I had updated the tablet drivers just a few weeks ago, so they should be the latest.
  16. Each time I switch on my drawing tablet (Intuos Pro Paper L) when AP is already opened, brush strokes can't be drawn. It's working fine on other programs so it must be something specific to AP. Example: I am drawing in AP, turn the tablet of or let it go to standby on bluetooth mode, turn it on again, and then its not recognizing pen pressures at all.
  17. I have never seen such issue when drawing/ using brushes in affinity photo. Maybe you are referring to the brush preview, you can disable it at preferences--> user inferface Maybe try to disable it and see if that clears it up. It might be worth to alter some settings in the performance tab.
  18. It would be very helpful to be able to set up perspective grids for one, two and three point perspective. This would save so much time, creating those from single lines and copy/pasting them.
  19. For drawing the standart size of the color picker in the color panel is quite small. If it would be possible to increase the hight of the panel like its possible for the width we could have a bigger color selection wheel/field. This would be very helpful. The current workaround of opening the color chooser takes up to much unnecessary screen space (since you then have 2 color selectors on screen).
  20. For me the shift-click for staight line function is completely useless when drawing on a tablet due to the described issue of not remembering the pen pressure when connecting the points. It would be great if the pen pressure of the line equals the pressure of the second shift-pen click to create the line. Overall I would really want an option where you can toggle the bahaviour of the shift-click to draw straight lines to something where you can simply hold down shift and drag a straight line. With this you can adjust the lenght and angle as long as you dont release the stroke. This variant could also support measuring the pressure along the line to draw the line after release with the recorded pressure level variation. That would make it very useful when drawing with a tablet.
  21. For me the stock panel is very useful when it comes down to search for references while drawing. An issue I have with the stock panel is that the images are very small and that there is no option to increase the size like a small slider on the bottom for the image sizes or a setting in the stock panel. I would love to have the option to view the images in a bigger format while drawing. That would save me a lot of time importing them or viewing them external in bigger size.
  22. I can totally second the suggestion to display the name of the brushes. Now you have to hover over all brushes and wait for the tooltips, which is very time consuming if you have a lot of brushes and if some have quite similar brushstroke apperance. It would be great if this would be made an option which can be turned on or of in the settings. I would also love the ability to order the categories like its posible with the brushes within a category so that some frequent used brushes dont require to scroll down to the bottom of the list each time. Overall I think an option to display a search bar would also be great to find the brush you are searching for.
  23. Hey, could you share some more insight about the document size you are working in and for example what brushes you use. Does changing brush size and spacing impact the performance or does the issue prevail regardless of brush settings?
  24. I can totally second this. For digital painting in Photo a workflow overhaul would be very much appreciated. If it comes down to actions you frequently use its good to make them faster achiveable: quick rotate quicker way for picking colors with eyedropper tool without extra clicking straight lines with brush tool with a line preview direct slider option for width, opacity, flow and hardness in the brush toolbar For all affinity apps a UI scale slider would be very much appreciated for high dpi-displays and smaller screens like a surface pro for example. I have posted an more extensive feedback from my work and my point of view with affinity photo for digital drawing in an extra thread:
