https://harfbuzz.github.io/ if affinity does not want to use this I don't know why they want to reinvent the wheel by not using this. linux, android, Firefox and Chrome uses this. So you know it's good and fast.

in iran we had somethings like that for a long time it seems... (never noticed till now) There is Roya writer, Maryam writer and etc... Roya I think is free. Maryam costs less then 3 usd in here. And there is some more I didn't bother to check. Here is Roya writer (نگارنده رویا) in Affinity photo and blender Roya writer is not perfect but the outcome 100% works. Edit: Roya writer is 22 years old HOLLY MOTHER OF LIFE!

the thing is most of the marketing (even if it's a un-sponsored social media content it's still marketing even if it's free) this software gets is "it's a discount version of software X and it's as good as X can be." and although it's not Serif's direct marketing target (maybe?!) the social media is always introduce it like that. (just type affinity in youtube and watch the x vs y videos flow!) so usually people might get the software and try the environment and performance of their key elements (like smart fill for example) and assume that other things are "as the should be". It's a poor assumption but I think this is the case most of the time.

yeah when I wanted to buy affinity photo + designer this topic was the only reason I just got myself affinity photo. Guess I'll stay with inkscape. and the version 1.0 is just a warning sign to all the paid programs! It supports RTL it supports linux and the performance is very good right now.

Well I get notified by email when this thread is updated (I recommend others who care do this too) so I think it's best to just post the finished program here.

you can always try writing in inkscape then convert to path and bring it to affinity. it's a vector so you can do much more with it.

if you turn to blue channel, there are blacks that I want to change them to gray or white

hi I'm doing some texture work and I need to select all blacks in my blue channel but I can't find a good way for it without changing other channels. in Photoshop it was supper easy (go to blue channel and select color range) but I can't wrap my head around it in affinity photo. I select all blacks in blue but when I change them all other channels get affected somehow?! Here is a sample:

I love affinity photo but I'm so glad I did not bought affinity designer! I use Inkscape and even inkscape (a free program btw!) can do Arabic! Edit: also that site is a hit or miss in writing so I import my writings from inkscape!

Hi, I use affinity photo for editing textures for 3d models and I use color channels a lot. in Photoshop (or any 3d program) if there is no alpha data included, there will be no alpha channel but affinity does not respect that and always shows alpha channel even if there is no data for it stored in the file. Can you make affinity respect the existence of alpha channel data in the files? Many thanks.
