  1. Thanks. It seems like this sorta works. The problem I have is that the canvas is constantly being selected. Do I need to lock it?
  2. Each time I add an artboard in Designer, I get stuck in Artboard mode. How do I get out? Sometimes this just happens, but I can never figure out how it exited. Very frustrating. There are several questions about this when I Google search it, but no answers.
  3. I have come to hate Photos (Mac) and would like a program that could index and categorize like Aperture, before I spend time working with the thousands of photos I have that Photos has turned into a disorganized hash. I love Affinity Designer, so I am inclined to buy Affinity Photo if it can be my one place to organize everything. Apple prematurely eliminated Aperture and iPhoto before Photos was ready to handle this.
  4. You are entirely correct. Though Arial Narrow has been on the Mac for as long as I can remember (and I have used it often), it was not ported to the iPad though Arial was. Many thanks.
  5. Thank you very much for the time you gave to this reply. I have checked my test image and it measures 7.9" x 10.2" in the Transform window. The print dialog box shows exactly what I want. If I export this to a pdf, it prints from my pdf application just fine. No other application has ever behaved like this, but no other application has so limited a set of print options. The problem appears to be that I cannot see in Designer what it thinks the printer expects. Perhaps a future version will address this. No doubt there is something in a cache or communication that is causing this issue. I simply do not know what I can do to fix it. It seems unlikely, though not impossible, that the issue could be in my iPad. Since I just replaced one device with a brand new iPad, it must me more than a reboot issue. Of course, since the new iPad was restored from the old (both iPad Pros), a software glitch could have migrated in the process. My reason for wanting to use Affinity Designer on the iPad is that I love the pencil for illustration. Affinity Designer has a superior way to magnify and make small printing look natural. Other applications often defeat small handwriting with excessive smoothing. For the time being, I will use Autodesk Graphic, Concepts, Paper, or Adobe Sketch. I have purchased all and (except for the fact that I can barely see the icons) Designer is my favorite.
  6. Your thoughtful reply is very generous with your time. The font in question, AI Nile is not a font difference I have ever noticed, having used Macs and iPads from their beginnings. many thanks
  7. I apologize if this problem is posted, but I could not get the search results to recover anything between 0 and 80,000 responses. I have created a simple test document on my 11" iPad Pro (2nd generation), US letter size. I sent the drawing to my Brother Inkjet. The portrait image prints about ¼ size, rotated 90˚ and offset to the right. I exported this drawing to a pdf and printed it. It prints correctly, no problem. When I print this from Affinity Designer on my desktop, no problem. The image in the print dialog is exactly what I want, but I get a useless result when printing. It is entirely possible that months ago I bought the desktop version and not the iPad version, but the software gives me no indication that the printing requires another purchase and I have not received a reply from Affinity about this.
  8. I have a large number of pdfs that were originated in Adobe Illustrator (v10). My needs for Illustrator were fully satisfied with the version, but it will not run on the latest Apple macOS Catalina. Retired, I only used Illustrator for nonprofit work. Affinity is a great deal. Affinity imports the pdfs with few glitches, but the text on the documents differs between my desktop and my iPad Pro. The text wraps undesirably on the iPad. Correcting this is difficult and it will take serious effort to determine whether, if reconstructed from scratch will solve the problem. On some text strings, a character that behaves like a tab character, when deleted and replaced by a space returns the same wide space between the two words. The text is left justified, ragged, so it is not a center justified paragraph issue. I have attached a file and will be specific about the issues, if useful. I am willing to accept a phone call, if useful to you. Blank.afdesign
