  1. I just find out, that file from my first post (with Java script removed) is printed from Publisher as black square on our Konica Minolta C754e PCL / PS printer. Is this the case on other printers, too? If so, this is a bug IMO as well - you can see content in AP, but get black square on paper. Export to pdf and print from Acrobat works fine.
  2. My point is, that pdf's are not treated as they should be in Publisher. Java script in this pdf (created in CorelDraw 2020) is not an issue in Indesign or Acrobat and should not be a problem for average user of Publisher, getting pdf files from different content creators. I hope Publisher will remove this Java script by itself in next release. Thank you for fast response!
  3. I just installed latest beta 1.9.0.850, then I made simple pdf with one word and placed it into Publisher. Publisher crashed instantly on several attempts. Adobe Acrobat or InDesign has no problem with displaying or printing this file ... For us, Publisher is still not usable until robust pdf import is available, as we agregate pdf files from different sources and are not used to experience changed fonts or altered content in any form from our authors. I can not understand Affinity Publisher's interpreting pdf's by defoult as intacted, placed pdf's are at the heart of DTP since the begining in 90's, expecially in this kind of agregating aps (Pagemaker, Ventura, Quark, InDesign etc.). 4. Yes, I tried that already but it is not enough for our needs. I often want to resize placed pdf's which is hard or impossible to do with text broken into lines, I would like to work with actual look of placed graphics and usually, I don't want to be able to alter imported pdf's.
  5. Ah well ... it must be hard to implement one of the core uses of pdf's in DTP apps - uninterpreted pdf. If only Publisher would be able to convert missing fonts to curves to maintain look of document - not to wish automatic placement of long pdf documents into publication ... But as it is now in v1.9, placed pdf's look ugly on screen because of missing fonts and are printed ugly on average PCL printer - if not exported to pdf and printed from Acrobat using Passthrough feature.
  6. Whoa, this non existing feature in earlier versions of Publisher made app unusable for us as we often put together publications with lots of external pdf's, which must remain intact / not interpreted (misssing fonts, delicate content etc.) Mayor feature for me, will download new version ASAP. Edit: Ah, halfbaked feature IMO. Passthrough works only on export to pdf, while screen preview and printing to PCL printers still change missing fonts. As there is no option to place multi page pdf's as embedded objects, we have to stay with our ageing version of InDesign. Pagemaker and Ventura Publisher were able to do that decades ago ...
  7. Multipage pdf's are still interpreted when placed and must be imported page by page ... "Add pages from file..." is not a solution, as you get pdf pages broken into lines and graphics. Publication, combined from few dozens, even hundreds of pdf pages, graphics (...) is still painful to do in Publisher. One would expect, this is THE basic operations any DTP app would do since Pagemaker times. This non-feature keep us from integrateing Publisher into production in our institution (municipality). :(
