Best Export Format for Illustrator

is PDF still the best format to export in? I realized 'adobe pdf' is a format, so it makes sense that Adobe programs could still open it. However, I noticed that this thread is from 2016, so I'm wondering if anything has changed. I would think SVG files would be fine too, correct?
