@Duskstalker Thanks for your benchmark. Is openCL acceleration working for you on the Intel ARC gpu? E.g. do you have it active when using the Affinity apps or do you need to disable openCL because it is causing crashes, stalls etc? I am asking because I am considering to buy a tablet PC with a mobile Intel ARC gpu.

Affinity 2.0.4 on Windows desktop: To check the effect of e.g. an outer shadow fx, I like to quickly and temporarily hide the blue object outlines and manipulation nodes. How can this be done? Is there maybe a shortcut that works, when the fx setting panel is open? In some cases I can hit spacebar, but that does not work when in text edit mode or when a panel is open.

headline span column?
cgidesign replied to cgidesign's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Final Update about this topic: Even though LibreOffice has a working span column function, the image placement unfortunately has a bug (the paragraph anchor jumps around on its own when changing the image position - so, no way to consistently tell an image to follow a specific paragraph). Final solution: I installed my 12 year old CS6 Indesign (yes, it runs on Win 10) which I never used before and learned, all I need is possible in that software. Disadvantage: its UI has issues with todays HighDPI displays but it is usable. Would it make sense to open a new feature request for Publisher V2? The one linked in this thread is already over 4 years old, now archived and maybe not in focus of Serif anymore? -
headline span column?
cgidesign replied to cgidesign's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Appreciate your input @thomaso I did more searching for a simple solution and in the end found out that LibreOffice (open source) can do what I need by simply using sections. I just need to set the page layout to single column and create sections as two columns. The headlines are paras in the page and the body text is in the sections. As a result I can edit like I have a normal text document. The font rendering though is not as pretty as in Publisher (and placing images is cumbersome like in most word processing software), but the headline thing is really more easy to achieve. As this is a small non commercial project of mine (little help document for hobby 3d people), saving time is one goal. (even though I maybe convert it in the end to publisher just because the font rendering looks better - I don't like the huge spaces word tools normally create, and love that I can set letter and word spacing in Publisher which I can't in LibreOffice). Again, thanks for your help. -
headline span column?
cgidesign replied to cgidesign's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Thanks for taking the time to help. The textflow you drew there is how I like to have it. If I understand you right, this is not possible if I also want the automatic flow? So the conclusion is, this document has to be done manually, right?: Each content block needs its own frame Each headline needs its own frame and must be pinned manually If I delete or add text lines in a frame I would need to adjust all the subsequent frames by hand Hm, this is more or less the same like in a text editor. Pity, I had hope a dtp software would offer some clever solution for this. -
headline span column?
cgidesign replied to cgidesign's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Thanks all. I searched some other packages but with no luck. According to your answers there seems to be a way to do it in Publisher but I do not fully understand it yet. I made mockup in Desinger to show what I like to achieve. I would be grateful if somebody could give a hint how to solve this in Publisher. -
headline span column?
cgidesign replied to cgidesign's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Ok, does somebody know another low cost publishing software that has this feature (not from Adobe)? Really, anything else I normally need, is already in my standard text sofware. I need a publishing solution only because of this, well, desktop publishing feature. -
Trying to work with publisher 2.0.4 on Windows: So far I did text stuff in a text editor (which works well for standard stuff). Now I need text columns and spaning headlines. I found threads with the same request from around 4 years ago. But without a solution. Is this possible today in version 2.0.4?

Colors are off on my second Screen.
cgidesign replied to Erichi's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
In case someone stumbles upon this old thread: My info about where A-Photo reads the icc profiles from was not fully accurate: My updated conclusion is for Affinity Photo 2.0.4: A. If "use my settings" in Windows color management is on, the profiles are read from "user settings" B. If "use my settings" in Windows color management is off, the profiles are read from "system settings" -

Ok, in the end I made some test and can answer the question myself now: Affinity Photo 2.0.4 A. If "use my settings" in Windows color management is on, the profiles are read from "user settings" B. If "use my settings" in Windows color management is off, the profiles are read from "system settings" -
Color Balance adjustment - Shadow tonal range bug
cgidesign replied to Sonny Sonny's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
Thanks for the reply but it is covering only part of the question: Like explained in the other post, the Windows color management has two main options: 1. Settings for currently logged on user. 2. System settings. When you open the color management in Windows you are presented with the "user settings": In this dialogue you can switch to the system settings: The profiles here can differ from those in user settings: Why I am asking: In Windows it often happens that Windows changes the profiles in the user settings. To my experience this happens e.g. when using a notebook that sometimes has an external monitor attached and sometimes not. In that case it happens that in the end you have the notebook-display ICC profile assigned to the external monitor etc. I had various color display issues with the Affinity apps because of this missmatch. But once I either switched off "use my settings" or took care that user settings and system settings have the same profiles assigned, those issues went away. Just to know what's going on, I like to know if the apps are: A. reading the profiles from "user settings" when "use my settings" is on B. reading the profiles from "system settings" when "use my settings" is off C. always reading the profiles from "system settings" but ignoring the user settings. -

@Dan C can be so kind to cross check a detail regarding the monitor ICC profiles? Somewhere in the manual I read that Affinity apps read the icc profiles from the system part of Windows color management. In the all screen shots shown in this thread I see the user part. An issue in Windows is, that system and user can show different ICC profiles: I showed this in the below thread. Can you let us know where exactly Affinity is looking for ICC profiles? In my case I was able to solve ICC profile related color issues when I disable "user / my settings" and set monitor profiles in the system settings; or take care that system settings and user settings have the same profiles set. But maybe this was just coincidence? -
Gaussian blur bug in 32bit exr render pass composition
cgidesign replied to cgidesign's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
Ok, thanks for confirmation - I will avoid new stack feature from now on (pity - it was the fastest way to create a pile of render passes). -
Gaussian blur bug in 32bit exr render pass composition
cgidesign replied to cgidesign's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
Thanks for testing - please check final update at bottom of post. What does that mean? What happens if you paste it in? I have created the document with CL on -> issue happened -> saved document -> turned CL off -> restarted Aphoto -> issue still there. What does that mean? Do you say, if a document is created with CL on and this causes an issue, even when saving the document and loading it with CL off, the issue remains? Does that mean a user should never create a document with CL on because this can cause a permanent issue? Do you mind posting a screenshot of your 32-bit Preview settings? This time I created the document with CL off - issue still happens. I use "new stack" to create the document, did you do it the same way? If not, how do you create the document? UPDATE: I created the document again - this time with "open file" (first render pass) and then "place" subsequent render passes into the document. This way the issue does not happen. Conclusion: there is something wrong with using "new stack" instead of load and place. Can you confirm this? -

Just to be on the save side: Here is a composite made in a compositing software using similar settings and also a gausian blur. No issues here - even with the direct glossy pass. -

MSI Installer upadate?
cgidesign replied to thegary's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Thanks all for answering. I just noticed the launch offer is valid until 24th not 14th as I wrote. Has this changed or did I just had I a wrong date in my mind?
