Thanks. I wondered if that was it.

I find that site confusing. I seldom see a Download link; usually there's a Raw link. Right-clicking on either the Download (if present) or the Raw will get the files downloaded properly.

Checked it . Thanks, I'll keep it in mind. I'm also think that github's UI is complicated if you are not a coder.

For what it's worth, the LibreOffice Russian dictionaries at https://github.com/LibreOffice/dictionaries/tree/master/ru_RU work just fine for me, with @acdc1's sample file.

I suspect that they were downloaded incorrectly. @acdc1: If you still have your old dictionary files, and could zip them and attach them, I'd like to take a look. (Thanks for the sample file, by the way.)

Yes. It was my stupid mistake.  Sorry for it  .  ;)  I've downloaded files via  "Save As.." and it's downloads as html-files (inside) but with right extensions. ;-)))   I'm new to github and did't see "download" button there that's why I tried to save them by clicking "Save As.."  on the links

Using the Russian Hunspell files attached to this post, I get this:

I mispelled a word to demonstrates the dictionary works and adjusted the frame to force hyphenation (using APub, but the Hunspell is working in AD as well).

These are installed here on my system for this test (using Windows):

    Hi acdc1,
It's probably an issue with the files you copied. Where did you get them from? Do you mind sharing the link?

    Hi again. I've downloaded three files from https://github.com/LibreOffice/dictionaries/tree/master/ru_RU    :   hyph_ru_RU.dic  , ru_RU.aff and ru_RU.dic  ( as Walt.Farrell  advised in other forum thread).

I'm on Win 10.  So .. then I've copied them into Program Data > Affinity > Common > 1.0 > Dictionaries > ru_RU   folder.   I created "ru_RU" folder cause otherwise AD doesn't t see russian language at all.

  5. Hi all!

I'm trying to enable russian language spell checking in AD.  I found solution on other thread (about publisher).... Solution was to download three dictionary files (.dic .aff)  from libre-office and put them into ru-RU folder inside affinity designer language folder (edit->preferences->tools)  . After I did that the russian language shows up but everything is red underlined. Any suggestions?

    Thanks
