  1. Hello, guys!
Thank you very much for your quick replies. I have read them in e-mail notifications. Just got a chance to login and reply 😅

Correct. Photo makes two rendering passes to finalise strokes. Design uses a single render to achieve same outcome. Apparently this is by Design but I have no idea why.

DM1, Even though it’s inconvenient for me, at least I know that this is how this software intended to work, not just my ignorance and inability to find proper settings. 😁

This has been there from the beginning, has been raised with developers multiple time and has been dismissed as 'by design', like DM1 says. Why anyone would think that two render passes in an app that focuses so heavily on painting strokes, be it for drawing or masking,  is a good idea to boost performance is beyond me.  I have long stopped using Photo for drawing and painting, it's not possible to seriously work this way. Occasionally, I do some file print prep but even that I can now do elsewhere. For digital painting, I recommend Procreate (fantastic painting experience) and Clip Studio Paint (sophisticated image editing), both solid, reliable apps with superb painting capabilities.

Pauscorpi, Thank you. I do have Procreate, I really like to draw in it, but I found it’s features a bit limited with regards to selection tool and picture editing.

I wanted to have replacement for the Photosho (which was intended for photo editing, but many graphic artist use it for drawing and editing their drawn pictures.) I am trying to follow tutorials, but they are mainly with use of Photoshop.

    Hey KissMS,

This is by design. On the desktop version, we can work around this by changing the Retina Rendering to High quality–however this setting isn't available on the iPad yet, but it is coming and soon.

Thank you, Chris. That’s great news.

So even though this software is not exactly what I was expecting. I will keep it and will use for photo editing. I will draw in Affinity Designer or Procreate.

  2. Hello,

I just purchased Affinity Photo for iPad Pro. I have planned to use it for the digital painting... However I run into the issue.

When using the brush...line is blurry while I paint. (With any type of brush). When I stop it takes about 2 seconds for them to sharpen. So while I am painting I am constantly looking on blurred lines. This delay irritates my eyes.

I can try to describe in other words: line look very pixelated while I am drawing but shortly after I stop it gets smoother.

I was hoping to see if it’s some kind of settings that I have to change. Otherwise I have to return the purchase as it’s not usable for me.

P.S. Interesting observation that Affinity Designer in the Pixel persona has no delay in the line sharpening. It’s same while I am drawing the line and after it.

    Thank you
