In Publisher you can already do that. Double-cick on the image's layer in the Layers panel to open it in a new document tab/window, and switch to the Photo Persona. That uses the StudioLink functionality, which is a feature supported only in Publisher.
If you have all 3 applications, and you only need functions that are available in the Designer Persona of Designre, or the Photo Persona of Photo (with some limitations) then you can just do most of your work in Publisher, using the 3 Personas available there, rather than using the standalone applications.

From Publisher you cannot do that. When you use File > Edit in ... you are sending the complete document over. And any editing you do that point in the Photo application is to the page the image is on, not to the image itself. Unless you double-click on the image in the Layer panel to open it in a new editing tab.
Double-clicking on the Linked or Embedded image in Publisher will get you an editing tab for it. Switching to the Photo Persona gets you the same editing capabilities you have in the standalone Photo application for editing the image. But now you are working on the image (either the original if Linked, or a copy if Embedded), not the complete page.
The only disadvantage of staying in Publisher is that you need to keep brushes, styles, etc. synchronized between the Publisher and Photo applications, but maybe Serif will take care of that someday. In the meantime, the advantages of being able to edit just the image will usually outweith that disadvantage, in my opinion.
But you are free to use whatever workflow you want, of course, as long as it is one supported by the applications today. Or you are free to post in Feature Requests, and perhaps someday Serif will implement your suggestion.

    Hey there!
Is there a resource and/or a font manager in Affinity Designer like the one in Affinity Publisher?
If there is please tell me where to find it.
If not I'd like to suggest to add them to Affinity Designer (and Affinity Photo).
    All the best,
    Chris

    Hola,
It would be nice that in future versions Ade and APub, that we can edit the photos individually, this process would save a lot of work. Possibly a context menu of the image (open in Photo) or anything else.
For me this option is essential in my workflow
Thank you and I love you for your work

    Hi cje,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums
You can send the whole Designer document (not single images) to Affinity Photo going to menu File > Edit in Photo then switch back again to Designer using the same process or for simple edits just use the Pixel Persona in Affinity Designer.

One of the good things, but also one of the bad things, about the Adobe suite of apps is the Creative Cloud storage system.  The upside is that is is a central point for everything, but the huge downside is that it is yet ANOTHER cloud package with a cost.
I am sure this has been addressed before, but here is my thought.
A very simply app which runs on Windows/Mac/iOS.  Basically, it is an asset manager that you can link to ANY cloud service (plus local storage).  But, on top of being available as a standalone system, it also is built into all Affinity apps on all platforms.
In my head, you would set up a series of defaults.  This would be a default cloud (like OneDrive or pCloud etc) where everything is stored unless told otherwise.  However, on each device, you would also be able to set up default local storage that overrides device defaults.
The cloud storage would, initially, be three folders:
Assets Projects App Assets would include as asset library (as we already have, but being on the cloud, it is shared between devices), and a resource folder which can be used for brushes, palettes and other resources that are application and device wide.  I would love to "install" a brush there and know it will be available to all my applications on all my platforms when I next launch them.
The projects folder would be simply for projects and could contain multiple files, project assets and so on.  But again, available from all apps on all platforms.
This would make moving from Desktop to iPad, for instance, much more intuitive.
In the future, I suppose this could include the ability to share with other users, but that might be problematic depending on the cloud platform.
The APP folder is simply where the app stores any additional data needed to make sure the app on all devices are saying the same thing!  That might not be necessary, I suppose, depending on how the system works.
My main thought about this approach is that it should use existing cloud solutions rather than selling yet another one. Firstly, I think people are fed up of having multiple cloud accounts with multiple subscriptions, and secondly, it allows people the choice of working with the environment they are happy with.  Lastly, of course, I am not sure Serif want the pain and overheads of managing a cloud solution!  Managing an App solution is much more attainable.
In addition, I do have problems with jumping between apps on the iPad (it is fiddly) and how different all that works between the iPad and desktop.  Something like this would, from the user perspective, iron out all those wrinkles by making it appear to work the same everywhere.
I don't see this app needing to be integrated into a cloud system.
I am certain this has all been said before, but this is just my take.

In these unique times, we want to help users transitioning to and from other DTP applications. We know that many designers are having to make budget cuts, and many are moving from Adobe to Affinity. We want to help you guys move your existing work to Publisher. So, we are giving away the full version of IDMarkz for usage through the end of May 2020. This is not the freebie version that locks out the IDML export; it's the full version with all features enabled. There are no charges or signups required to take advantage of this; it's how we feel we can help during these unprecedented times.

If you are already using the freebie version of IDMarkz you can use the following license details to activate the full version to be used through May 2020:

    Email Address: doingourpart@markzware.com
    License ID: bf2f3a43-8466-4861-b5e6-2e0e00e4ac83

If you don't have the freebie, you can get all the information you need to get started here. Please feel free to share this with your friends and colleagues.

We'll be monitoring how this pandemic affects those in our industry, and we may extend the free usage beyond May 2020.

Sorry Windows users, I can't give a timeline, but we are actively working on a Windows version.

I recently noticed that version 1.8 presents a user interface that is difficult to understand about (new) document formats.
Here I present a proposal about the user interface and would like your feedback.

    Hello "fde101"
Inch based, IEEE, ANSI and others can be developed also of course, this international layout size (in blue)
is only an example and will not cover all systems.  and national variations.
    Thanks for your observation.

Workspace customization is currently difficult and laborious.
Feature request 1: Workspace saving | Now  if I want to save workspaces, they must be copied from system files.  Also i hate to lose my workspace setup after updating software.  1.5, 1.6 and now 1.7.
Feature request 2: Workspace customization improvements | Now moving tool tabs and setting up custom workspace is very frustrating. Many times elements just can't snap into desired location or snapping area is very odd.
Feature request 3: Workspace reset to saved workspace

I love Affinity Suite, but FOR ME the interface is uninteresting and out of date and the operation is NOT very good and has bugs.
I am sure and hope that Affinity will fix this in the future and refresh the interface look as well.

    Hello there,
I was hoping the recent update would fix the overlapping panels issue… but sadly it doesn't
No second column of panels either…
Any other Mac user interested in these "features" ?
I can't believe I'm the only one who can't wait for the fix.

    Hi,
I wanted to make a suggestion to the affinity suite file type. Please make icons for different file formats a bit like the way Photoshop has done where TGA, HDRI and PSD have unique icons. it helps makes it easier for people to understand the difference in the file type rather than looking into the properties.

Some minor suggestions that could make the app user experience a bit nicer in my opinion. Screenshot for reference:

    1. Why is there no separation between the various bars here? It all blends together and makes it all look like a big space-wasting blob. Also, I think the scrubber sliders don't even need a background Having just the selection handles visible, and the background completely or partially transparent (like the ruler) shouldn't affect usability but you'd get a bit more visible canvas estate.
    2. I'd love an option to use the tool belt as any other studio window in the app. Any screen bigger than a laptop leaves a giant unusable gap bellow the tools so undocking them and using them as a regular studio would be nice. In my case for eg. I could dock them below the navigator and they wouldn't even use that much space but they'd be as useful as they were.
2b. Pretty sure this was already requested but collapsible studio windows Adobe style would also be great.
    3. I've already commented on a different thread about this but might as well mention it here again. Please make an option to disable the hints bar. It's a complete waste of space for anyone at least a bit experienced in the app's shortcuts. I don't remember the last time I looked at it seeking help but I regularly curse it for taking away my valuable screen estate when using my MacBook without an external monitor.

    Thanks for listening 👋

But that is not the right answer for my needs, why hire a tailor if you just want to sew a button?
Who said I don't have Publisher?
We are not demanding advanced capacity of text blocks as in Publisher for editorial projects. It's something as basic as editing text blocks.
This ability in AD will not subtract the purchase in Publisher. My point of view is that it will gain more users to Affinity applications and its workflow philosophy.
5 years ago when I bought my first Affinity product (AD), I thought it would be the future. At this moment I don't know ... I still have hope.
