I totally agree. Designer should have the option to fill any shape with e.g. dots without the extra work of making dots. 
I hope the feature is coming soon. 

The Paris-based designer and artist Cyril Diagne recently launched a new image editing program that circumvents the traditional method using a single app.
When users take a photograph with AR Cut & Paste, the software finds distinct objects and automatically removes their backgrounds. In a video below, Diagne shows how a plant is captured on a mobile device before being snipped from the surrounding image. Once he hovers over the computer screen, the cut-out plant is placed directly into Photoshop.
AR Cut & Paste only works with the Adobe products currently, although Diagne says it may pair with others in the future. To try out the inventive software, download it for yourself from GitHub. Diagne announced an AR Copy Paste app for Android and iOS.

Would be nice if you could add this.
I know I can achieve it by closing open curve, but Illustrator does it and it's useful.

Hey Affinity, i am writing to you to propose you add some features to your software. First please apologise me for mistakes, i'm french. Here is some ideas for Affinity Designer : the possibility of rotate the guides. For example, to make by himself typographic design. setting option : the possibility of grip (for example) squares and rectangles with guides like now, with turned guides. the possibility of export guides with design. Useful to export geometrical construction of a logo design. new tool : a shape builder-like. The geometrical tools (booleans operations) is the most incomprehensible part in AD for me. I think (and I see that a lot of users ask for this) a shape builder tool could a more simple aspect of AD. I love to make design with ease on AD , so I believe that a feature like a shape builder, wich don't cut shapes but, maybe gather shapes together and create a mask on them. Like on AI but without cutting and non-move back possibilities. the possibility of class fonts by classes, with files wich you can rename (like handwriting fonts, gothic, pro fonts...) it's  hard to scroll down to repair all the fonts which do well with your idea/project. A simple tree or files system for example could be really useful. maybe harder to develop, import the vector design with Stock from Pixabay with nodes so as to we can modify the curves. (By the way, Stock is a great feature :) ) I hope this ideas will be able to improve your software. Anyway I wish for your future tackle to big Adobe corporation. Have a good day :)   An user.

- Zigzag Shapes and Lines
- Grain, Pixel Effect to the Object or Lines
- Pattern Maker

At least Adobe gives you the option to collapse the panels to icons or you have the ability to doc panels into two or more columns. And if you have a set workspace then you develop muscle memory to the locations of the panel sets and your workflow is not hampered by looking for things.

Yes, I know this already. The panels can just get muddled up. I've been working with design software since 1994, starting with FreeHand and Illustrator. I never got panels mixed up. In Affinity the panel sets get a bit messy. Every time I need to go to a panel I need to search for it. It would be easier if it can be collapsable to an icon and I call up the panel when I need it.

I love the Affinity Software, but I find the panel sets a little challenging at times, because they all dock in on each other and sometimes it gets a little tricky to navigate the panels. The easiest way for me to work at the moment is to work with two monitors where I use one monitor only for panels, but I travel a lot and don't travel with two screens. So a way to make workspaces a little more flexible would be great.

Most professionals I know don't see it as a replacement at this point.
It can be used in addition to Adobe, but there is too much missing.
Not telling people what is planned makes no sense to me and limited resources is an excuse.
If they were listening, some basic features that people have been asking for (proper percentage scaling boxes for one)
would be there after, what 4 or 5 long years? Not sure where they are heading with these programs at all.

Affinity has been around for a while now and at this point, it is still not a replacement for Adobe.
There are a lot of good things, but the development is just taking way too long.
There is a golden opportunity that is being missed, because a lot of people are fed up with Adobe.
So what exactly is the long range plan and what are the features that are going to be added?
There is a lot of stuff that is not there (including proper plugin support) and I wonder if any of the developers are actually listening.

It would be very helpful to have the same swatches as one has in the main Swatch Panel appear in both the Text Frame swatch option and the Gradient Effect as a swatch panel. I realize that this is asking a lot but if possible it would help work flow. 

It would be very nice if you could collapse all layers at once in the layers panel. Layers become very difficult to work with when you have many of them since selecting objects expands the parent layer, so you have to scroll back up and manually collapse them yourself.
Perhaps you could have it so that layers are only expanded for as long as the item within it is selected? That way, after deselecting an object, the layer expansion goes back to its previous state, which is ether expanded or collapsed. Am I making any sense?

I love the Affinity suite of products but the one thing which bugs me about the interface is that I can only have one column of palettes on the left, one on the right.
In Indesign I have three columns on the right, two of which I usually minimise and one (normally for character and paragraphs etc) expanded all the time. On the left I have one (minimised) with not-so-frequent-but-handy-to-access palettes.
At the moment I have so many tabs next to each other and on top of each other that it drives me mad!
We really need to have multiple columns for storing/organising palettes, especially since monitors are so large these days - there's a lot of space being wasted which could be used more efficiently.
I also think it would be handy in publisher/design to be able to share docked palette locations for similar functions; i.e. character, paragraph, swatches etc, but understand this may be unworkable due to the difference between the available palettes in the respective apps (unless Affinity want to prove me wrong - please, prove me wrong!).

I wish there is a way to copy rulers made in an artboard to another artboard. This would make the workflow easier.

I have a little problem with the zoom when using it in Publisher.
I'm used to using "Spacebar" + "cmd" to zoom and "alt" to zoom out, but every time I use that shortcut combination the zoom goes to another page! both to decrease and to increase ..!
is there any way to configure it?
in affinity Designer when using that command set the zoom works perfectly!

I'm having trouble reproducing this here. Note that for zoom out you only need to press space + alt (not space + command + alt). Are you using any third party menu utility that may be affecting/interfering with the shortcuts?

Hi,
I'm using Publisher for few weeks only, but I'm constantly struggling with one feature. If I press [Space] + [Command] the Zoom tool (+) is temporarily used even if I'm using another tool. If I click the mouse it zooms in on the selected location.
If I add [Alt] to the combination ([Space] + [Command] + [Alt]) the Zoom tool (-) appears. If I click the mouse it zooms out, but the document jumps some amount down. I was searching throughout the preferences, but did not find any related settings.
If I choose the the Zoom tool directly from the tool bar, it behaves correctly both for plus and minus.

Please let me know if you need any more information.
