  1. I don't know what are you talking about. I don't see that in there...
  2. And I wonder if E9B6 is reading what Murfee and me was trying to tell him...
  3. Well, that funcionality works in PagePlus X9, so Serif have experience in that matter, i think
  4. Well, i have tried xlsx files and it works, and not only me. I have loaded 2 ones in Data Merge Manager and see them in Fields panel, adding fields from both at same time, so xslx file access is working yet... Maybe you can upload your xslx file and we can test in our systems.
  5. Why do you say twice "xlsW"? Is a spelling mistake? You know, must be xlsX...
  6. I have fixed spines that had 5 mm and must have 25, and, even worse, fitted a 25 mm spine into a 5 mm one!!! Some designers do all spines 10 mm width, no matter the real spine. Etc, etc... Sure you have seen a lot, too!
  7. I work in a digital print shop, almost ALL our work is about printing books. We work with a lot of small-medium publishing companies. I can swear that almost a third of their covers (designed using Illustrator and Indesign, using one page and guides) have WRONG MEASURES and I must fix it using Enfocus Pitstop pdf edition capabilities = a lot of time lost every week. I'm sure you do it perfectly, but from my experience, that way is very prone to error. And if it's a folded cover, "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe..." 😱 😅
  8. Hmmmm five years yet from launch??? Time to have yet some features, I think...
  9. I agree. We must not forget, at this price, Affinity Suit is a bargain. We're demanding a Ferrari at the price of a Lada. But, curiously, Serif PagePlus X9, the Affinity previous DTP, have multipages spreads, a kind of data merge and is scriptable... The three things I think Publisher need right now. So Affinity guys knows how to do it. Maybe it's a matter of development time, they had a time target to launch the app and then implement more features. Only they knows.
  10. Hi @dominik! Well, I thinked @Oval knew that list 😉 I have read the @Ash post. He put it black over white, more than 2 pages spreads is not a priority. But I agree with @Raymondo, some features are a must if you try to assault the pro market. Do you know Scribus project? It's a open source, the free PLP lider program, now in 1.5 version. It's Python scriptable and have more than 2 pages per spread feature. And, for me, Affinity Publisher is 100 times better than Scribus (yes, in open source projects a lot of people help to develop features...). That said, we, Affinity buyers, can only wait to that features be implemented, and keep using InDesign until then for the projects that need it. And I can say that I have a lot of them that need scripting to save time... and money.
  11. But this feature is in it, or not?? That's what's important...
  12. Well, you can do it the old way. You can create the data merged layer with Word (combine correspondence or mail or something like that) and the common background with Affinity, exporte both to pdf and merge them in Acrobat Pro or similar app. That`s the way we did it before Indesign Upps i have seen "besides Microsoft Word" right now... Sorry mate.
  13. Then, from your words we can deduce that this function will be implemented shortly in Publisher. Version 2.0 or still v 1.X?
  14. I agree. I use it in InDesign a lot, 'cause I design a bunch of book covers every day (a half of them with 5 pages, including flaps). Lot easier to work and less prone to errors than working with a ruled page. I have a lot of clients that almost NEVER make symetrical designs 'cause they doesn't adjust the rules to the correct measures (they work with illustrator, poor boys...). One MUST.
  15. I agree. I use it in InDesign a lot, 'cause I design a bunch of book covers every day (a half of them with 5 pages, including flaps) One MUST.
  16. Hi! I had a similar issue yesterday. I had 2 circles selected, I clicked Designer's button and Publisher crashed. Well, childhood issues, not worried at all, but i understand your problem. A lot more work to do...
  17. 1+ for Data merge. But mates, Indesign Data merge is not the best, for sure!!! Comunity is complainig about it long time ago. So, if you wish to do a bit better, you must read Adobe forums and see what users ask for ;) Your product have a lot more of clever solutions than Adobe one. Keep in this way mates! I have purchased Designer and Photo for my personal use. Maybe some day my boss take it in account and bought for work, too.
  18. One more vote to Python. Despite the fact I'm a Indesign scripter long time ago, I think Python is a more powerful, cross platform language. Not JS for WINDOWS and AS for OSX, one ring to rule them all Greetings from Spain!
