  1. I agree. But if you can create a style with them, you can apply it in data merge without problems, I think. Ah, ok, thanks!
  2. Thanks for your support, Bruce. Nope, I wish to include this option in a PARAGRAPGH STYLE, under Capitals: Who use (or even understand) Titling or Unicase options?? The options of Text / Capitalisation menu are more natural and useful, but we cant apply them in a paragraph style, as you can do in Indesign (and other pro apps). I hope you have it clear now . Greetings, Jose
  3. Hi all Yes, I have seen a request like this, but the solution seems a bit unreal for me. It doens't really matter if Serif implemented the feature in Text/Capitalization like an action or whatever, or how other brands have implemented it. That really matters is that isn't logic (for me, of course) that a text format option can (and must) be applied by hand but not by paragraph style. In the end, all formatting is an action, isn't it? I every year format some dietaries, and I have created various python scripts to generate the fields that I'll add using data merge (sometimes not only texts but images). In Indesign I only need to use paragraph styles to format all the texts (some in all caps, others in title case, whatever client whishes). In Publisher I must generate the texts almost in final format, so I must create one file to every client (or more, if client wants to see more options, and clients ALWAYS want to see more options), or revise EVERY PAGE in EVERY DOCUMENT to apply some text formats manually. Not very efficient, isn't?. And in this world time is never enough (actually is always missing). And this is only one of the lot of possible examples that you must use this feature. So I must continue to use 2 programs when I want to use only 1, because Publisher Data Merge is better than in Indesign (at least it supports double-page spreads, not like the Adobe application). Someone thinks like me? I think yes If so, I look forward to your support in this post. Greetings from Spain, Jose
  4. Hi all. My data: Windows 10 (updated today) Hardware acceleration OFF Publisher version: 1.10.4.1198 My problem: When I use Data Merge Manager and try to use Page Range (From To) in Merge Pages, if I try to change the page using the up or down arrows, the value changes to the final page in the document after show briefly the value -2147483648. Then, you can click whatever arrow you wish, the page's number doesn't change (but every time you click it, you can see -2147483648). I have attached a video that show it perfectly. Strange, it's not it?? Greetings from Spain, Jose Publisher bug.mp4
  5. Nope! In InDesign you can export the doc as spread or as individual pages. You don't need to create multi and single page versions of the same doc. We all know that there's another way to do it without spreads of more than 2 pages. But like we have say, it's a practice very prone to errors, and more difficult to make changes in the width of pages. I see it almost every day at work, working on client's book covers designed in Illustrator, for example. So yes, i'm sorry to say, but this feature is a MUST in every pro publising software, and Publisher haven't. Yet.
  6. Every time I see there's a new version of Publisher, I install it and I run to see if "spreads of more than 2 pages" is between the new features. And, every time, I end up disappointed. I swear, I can`t understand why this feature isn't implemented yet, when Serif PagePlus X9, the grandfather of this Publisher, have got it...
  7. Hi Mark! Good explanation, the best i have seen until now, about why we can see multiple sources at Fields window. Thanks!
  8. Hi mate! I had the same confusion. Like moderator Gabe answers me, Hi @Jose Alvarez, Sorry for the delayed reply. You may be confused by the fact you can only preview one data source at once and previewing one will hide the other. If you turn off all previews you will see the field placeholders. The preview works that way because that's what will happen for the output. You can only merge a page with one source at once. Merging 2 different sources is not an option. Maybe the window should only show the file chosen to merge.
  9. Hi Gabe! No prob, you don't need to apologize. 1: Yes, I was confused with that behaviour. Your explanation puts it black over white 2: I don't know macOS version or screen resolution, I saw a screenshot in another post. I only can say you my environment, Windows 10 and 1366 x 768 (laptop). Thank you for your response! Greetings from Spain, Jose
  10. I refer to this window. It's only useful for pdf forms? Sorry, I believed that was for more general uses.
  11. I agree with you, absolutly! A challenge is a challenge, but I can`t get the point to do DM with a table that you can import and format directly... My DM usual tasks are to make certificates (mixing fixed text, data merged and 1 picture), bussiness cards and customizing comercial post or brochures.
  12. Ahhh ok. I'm trying new things, but I have found something: if you see the combined data using your file, every record in the page have HIS OWN copy of the original frame created with DM node tool. So you have so many frames, and SO MANY TABLES, than records. You can`t get row colour alternance 'cause every record is THE FIRST ROW in his own table. Even more: you can create a DM node with 2 rows, and add text frames in both with different paragrap styles (= colour), but you will have the same result. Finally, I can get this: How? I have created 4 DM nodes, and I have populated them with the needed text frames, each with his field and paragragh style associated. Well, I have created and set the 2 first, and I have duplicated them. If you will reuse this layout again and again and again, you can make the effort creating all that nodes and frames. Your choice. But like you can see, the record order is wrong: 1, 3, 2 and 4. Maybe because I have duplicated the nodes. I have no time to test it not duplicating. Let me know if you go further in this way and your results. Good luck!
  13. Thats a view of your file, combined, with the data merge node moved to the right: I have applied the table style to the table that you have loaded into the node. The columns and text colours are respected, not the rows fill. But you have the other table to do that. Now I have adjusted the tables to a better look. Is that what are you looking for?
  14. Oh, yes, my fault, I worked styles on table definition. I will try again later.
  15. Maybe this? You must create different text styles to every cell format, with his own color... If you press Text / Style arrow in Edit table format, you can create new styles on the fly. I hope that helps you. If yes, a 'Like' is welcome
  16. Something like that? Your DM node is behind the table (one) that I have created. It's very rough, I'm only trying things.
  17. So you put a real table behind the DM node to provide the colours that DM doesn't allows to apply. That's what I was thinking that can be a better solution than the previous you used before, but you showed it before I can say. Good work.
  18. By the way, the Windows version shows me the Data Merge Manager window in this way (and I cant resize it): I have seen OSX version and shows entire window, no needed scroll bar. I'm using Beta in my laptop, 1366 x 768. Enough free screen, I think... Trying Beta, I see that others windows are cutted away, too. And this can't be scrolled... I can't acces to the 2 buttons at bottom.
  19. I have tried to combine data from 2 files. This time I used 2 excel files, previously I tried one xlsl file and one csv one, without result. I click second file fields but they arent added to the text frame. Now I can add fields from both files, but if I have Preview activated in both files, Publisher only shows and combine one of them. If I have preview disabled on both files, I can see both placeholders, but if I press Generate, only fields from first file are shown in combined file. EDIT: I'm sorry, AFP doesn't combine only data from first file. Every excel file have 3 records. AFP creates a 6 pages doc, the first 3 combining data from first file, and last 3 with data from second file but with the first line (the first file one) empty. Strange behaviour, isnt it? Indeed, I tried again to combine excel and csv files together. With Preview OFF on both, I can add fields from both. Thats why I can't do it to work before. AFP adds the second file fields, but doesn't preview it. That's the way it must work? If yes, it's a bit nonsense to me...
  20. Happy to hear it I tried your excel file and crashed on my system, too. In Indesign (using Unicode TXT export from Excel 2019) not problem at all, combined all data. I can't see anything strange in your excel file (or exported txt), so i can't give you an answer. Bring your file to Serif crew, tehy can do tests with it. By the way, I have tried again to combine data from 2 files. I think you havent this problem... AFP adds the second file fields, but doesn't show it. Maybe I must move all that stuff to Beta forum, like Patrick say to us...
  21. One thing: you can import more than one file into Data Merge Manager, but can you import fields from more than one file into the same document? Im trying and i can't, neither all fields in the same text frame or every file in his frame. I have tried with two files with same structure and can double click fields from both files, but AFP only combine data from first file in Fields panel.
  22. Thats the window I see. Nothing about Quote or Delimiter... AHHHH SORRY, only in csv files.
